Using Standalone Cars

Hi I have recently found this site and have downloaded some of the beautiful cars you guys have drawn, they really are fantastic and add so much to the game.

I want to know what the deal is with using them on public servers. I tried to join my public server last night and was booted, so obviously I need to upload these files to the server as well (which is fine).

We are running an event next week and what I would like to do is make a pack of all the files I have gotten from here for the people in our event, and also upload the files to our server. This way we can all have a unique car.

There are not many license descriptions or readmes in the files I have downloaded from here, is there anything wrong with doing that? Do the authors generally have problems with this? I don't want to change the files, just share em locally :) The pack will have a mixture of authors works all bundled up. I'm not wanting to tread on any toes here, so looking for some info on the commonly done thing.

Hi Temp,
For multiplayer the server needs to have any addons in it's gamedata folder for them to be used. Also everyone else on the server will need the exact same files or there will be mismatches and if someone doesn't have a car installed that car will appear as a safety car to the person that doesn't have the files installed.
As far as using publicly released skins i think they put them out there for you to use.. on or offline.. hope this helps G

Awesome thank you. I figured as much but you know how it is, some people put alot of effort into the skins and may want to only have them released on a certain site or something. I definitely appreciate the effort that goes into them that's for sure :up:
