Now, how do you get the pace car out of the way hen you are trying to get onto the track with Mosport for GTR2?

I didn't have a problem with that - but, perhaps, I have a different version - I don't know - or I may have converted my copy from GTL - sorry, I do not remember (I have played it with no problems in GTR2)

I just got GTR2 & GTL for Christmas & I love being able to race Mosport since, like you, it is close to home...35 km away. Since I am a member of the Vintage Automobile Racing Association of Canada, I have spent many hours watching, photographing & riding in some of the cars that are in GTL around this track. Also I have discussed driving techniques & set ups with many drivers, which I am learning, work in the game as well as real life.
BTW, in case you had not heard, VARAC's Festival at Mosport, in June of this year, is featuring the 40th anniversary of the first F1 championship race held in Canada. There will be some of the cars that actually ran in that race as part of the grid of F1 cars.

I was at that first GP in '67. My first race at Mosport was the '63 canadian GP won by Pedro Rodriguez in a Ferrari 330p

Just started playing around with GTL myself, and was elated to find this "local" (well, about as local as it gets to Toronto) track as an add-on.

Very well done, similar to the GPL version. The crest at the end of the Andretti straight seems a little scarier in real life though... or maybe I'm just not going fast enough in the game... :)

Gotta love it indeed.

I'm only 45 mins north of Mosport and attended all but one race weekend of regional events, and the ALMS race this past year
Also went to many more weekends in years past since 1980's.
It's a great treat being so close to such a world famous venue.
Having it to rip around on in GTL and GTR is truely superb.

Here's a video from the Regionals in 2006 of the Ontario Challenge Cup GT Sprint's race from Moss corner.
Pretty crazy with 5 classes out at once including GT-1, GT-A,B,C,and D.
Everything from Vipers, Bimmer's and Vette's to Escort Gt's and even Truck's lol.
A great series with some good battles..

anyways, i was wondering if there was anyway we could set up an all mosport room, online for guys that just want to race it,.

im not sure how any of it works online, but i played CounterStrike over the years, and i know you could do stuff like that there.

just a thought, cause im always on playing by myself, cause i cant find a room supporting it.

You can set up a race with the dedicated server program (I've tried without success, someone may be able to explain the intricacies) Then you could organise a specific day/night/time, and as long as everyone has the addon track in their game, Bob's your Uncle, you've got an event. Just make a post to advertise your event. I'll give it a go if the time and car selection is right. :)

I don't live quite as close as some of you guys. About 6 or 7 hours north but it's as close to a home track as I'll get living in Northern Ontario. If you're having a race at Mosport I'm in. I prefer GTL but might give it a go in GTR-2 as well.

Glad to see that I'm not the only Canadian driving GTL.

Ok guys, i tried hosting a Mosport race last night.. But nobody came in to race. I think maybe nobody had the track. Or maybe i wasnt doing somthing properly..Anyways ill be on tonite trying to get my lap times lower.

The room will be called Mosport ;)

what time ( time zone? where are you located? ) are you setting it up?


also if you are hosting it make sure you are using a default ( ie: non-standalone ) car...otherwise people can't join unless they have that specific car installed.

What's time is that GMT? Or how far ahead of GMT are you. (I'm 11 hours ahead of GMT here in OZ)

The problems I've encountered with the Dedicated Server, or setting a game up in the lobby, is that the only person that can join is the person who set up the game. That's what I meant about trying it whit no success.:(

well Alp, if you had that problem, then perhaps im having the same problem.

Not that i know for sure, but that is what i do, i start the room from that lobby screen and choose the Host option near the bottom. I was on last night for about 2 hours, from 5:00pm - 7:00pm. Thats 10:00-12:00pm Gmt time, and alp i think you are about 8 hours behind my time, so 5:00pm-7:00pm here is i think 9:00am-11:00am your time, lol. wow, math skills at work, but am i correct?

Im not computer genius, i wish it was as simple as just pressing the host button.

I tried serving yesterday, but no luck. The server was up and the game seemed to be running, but it would crash to windows after about a minute. I tried hosting a track other than Mosport and it was ok...

Has anybody tried setting up a server with Mosport?

Hey JB, yes, that's me on my trusty '97 TZ250 at Shanny. During the warm season I run with RACE, CanAm, USGPRU. And then, in the off season while I'm nursing my broken bones, I like to play games like GTL -- nothing like physiotherapy with a FFB wheel... :D

Had your R6 on the track? Very sharp instrument...

I'll do a little playing around to see if I can get the Mos to work. If I'm successful, I'll aim for next Sunday, 1700 EST.

Ive had the same crash, always happens at about the same spot in either turn 2 or 4, on the first lap. but then i load it up again immediatly, and it seems to work fine after it works that little bug out, lol.

but nobody has ever came in the room while ive been racing. so i dont know if its really working or not.

Okay Huevos, 5 oclock sunday, Toronto time, it is. and no, never had the R6 on the track, always wanted to though. i just used to do the DVP, lol.. and the Lawrence ramps :S and a bunch of other places wherever we could find little or no traffic. Battleaxes we're the best tires i had on her too, just rememberin in my head now, how sticky they used to get. lol. and yes, how crazy that little bike used to get, it would completely surprise me all the time, either id think i wasnt pushin it very hard at all, and she would just freak out and go beserk, hah.. or id think, DANG im pushin her to the limits for sure, and then something would happen and id have to correct my lines or somthing, and i thought for sure i was gonna wipe out, but itd surprise me and save my butt.. dont know how to explain, but from all this writing you can see im really not over my first love, lol.

now im going to go cry, haha.

Still no success... I've got the 1.1 patch but I think it's a bit funky. I'll try a full reinstall & repatch and try again...

Usually, when I think for sure I'm going to wipe out, it's done already. :D

Running a dedicated server and it seems to be working now, no crashing. Except for the cars inside, of course...

It's in the lobby now, named "Huevos...". See you there 5ish.
