Everyone cuts the track at monza... they do it in real life too.
I tested and found that keeping two wheels inside the white lines at all corners was 1.1 seconds slower than using the curbs. Its not that big of a deal, the F550 can do 1:39s...
Also... if you think jumping over curbs is bad, what about people who use setups that are scraping the nose on the ground while braking and downshifting so fast that the engine is at 9000rpm.

Hi,
1.06 at Anderstorp is a bit too fast for me, i could hardly go under 1.25 .... actually according to the replay file the lap was done at Donington National circuit, please Dan move the time to the right place. Thx. lol

sorry I'm kinda busy recoding all the main site pages to the new style, but I'll try to look at any questionable laps this weekend ;)

Hi,
I was looking at the times of rafechiara at Monza, amazing... i donno what kind of modified cars he is driving, but there are some strange things in it. For me a safety car was in the picture (???), also the laps are by far not perfect, wrong lines and few mistakes as well, but he still finished 2 sec faster then my best lap????? In the straights this car is like a rocket, maybe making 350 km/h as well.
I have good competition here with guys who is competing on a fair way, like olddriver04, montsa, and oschyns, and then a guy is coming with laps like this, taking away the fun....
I do not know what you guys think about it, but it is not for my liking.....

if you find a bad lap in the replay databse, ie:
wrong time,
wrong car,
wrong track,
excessive cutting,
etc.
please post the details here and one of the admins will check it out and remove it if necessary.
Thank you :)
HI
I iwas looking the times and the laps of rafechiara. In my gtr2 game the replays are not with the cars that he made the laps.
With driving like his is not posible to make this laptimes, wrong dgiving lines
mistakes when cornering accelerating and braking.
In my opinion the laps are made with cheeting.
It is a shame .......
Please NoGRIP check-up the laptimes annd made the battle for the best
hotlap FAIR...
May the downforce be wit you ....
I can only agree with the other posters.
The times rafechiara posted supposedly done in a F550 and Lambo at Monza are a fluke. The cars in the replay are totally different and he even admits to have downloaded them. Who knows what was modified!
Watching the replay and his driving style and driving lines, the times he posted are not capable. Please delete them, they were not achieved in a correct way. Thx for keeping this fair!
ok tuned cars are definitely a nono..
rafechiara which downloaded cars did you use ?

This car has definetely a modified physics,so please....
Hotlap competitions are usually not about who can download the fastest mod from the web......
*thinking out loud*
maybe to make it easier we could find a way to split them.. so you can see 1 set of times for modded cars and one for original only?
yeah - modded cars may get me into the top 1000 for stock cars ;) :P

well, i donno NoGrip... in my opinion would be better to keep it clean and only times without modded cars would count.
But it is your site, just my opinion. lol

no problem, I guess I need to add a rule stating original non tuned cars only :)

may i ask where the replay database is?:oWelcome Capp!
The Replay database is refered to as "Hotlaps" on the No-Grip front page (http://www.nogripracing.com/index.php) in the list on the left hand side. Just select either GT Legends or GTR2 and you'll find a search facility appear on the right side of your window. After that it should be plain sailing. Enjoy! :)

Troyden Has made a 00:52.390 laptime on Anderstorp GP 2003 with the Chevrolet Corvette C5-R in GTR2. I dont like to call others cheater without having hard proof.....but that lap is imposible to do.
yep he also submitted exactly the same time for monza junior so I guess it was an error.. anyway I've deleted the anderstorp time :)

HI
I was looking the Neo{RPM} hotlap at Imola.
He is cutting the schikane Variant Alta in his best lap from 16.11.06
1.40.751
He drives the car directly across the grass. This is a sports car not a mowing-machine.......
For me this is not a normal hotlap.......
Who think that lap is normal?

Hi there,
seems fishokev's hotlap at Zhuhai w/ BMW M3 GTR is a typo. Lap is listed at 1.30.281, but replay actually shows 1.35.281.
Someone mentioned above the issue with seeing the Safety Car in the replay instead the M3 GTR. Same problem here. But only happens with the Bimmer. Bug in the game?

Every players must submit a clear hotlaps...
but someone must control this, maybe some kind of voting...

Hi
I think the "2 wheels on the track rule" is very important because there are several Laps in the database where all 4 wheels are far away from the track (especially in Monza). :(
But we have to think about the curbs (the red/white surfaces besides the track).
Do they belong to the track or not?

Hello all,
First off all good job to NoGrip..!!!
Second; I also agree with a rule that says how many wheels should be on the track.
What are the rules in real life?
Because is this oke to do? I think he is making a little shortcut.
And something else the replay is showing a 01:07 lap but the gost is fasther.

Troyden's Monza Junior time is accomplished via a modded pace car. And there are other bizarre issues: the onboard replay has the vantage point way to low on the track, as though you are clipping through it and there are strange fluttering noises on most turns.
What is gained in a forum like this by posting tweaked timing. What glory is that? There is no cash prize involved.
I thought this was a way for SIM fans to share some times and perhaps talk setups.
Jeez!

Can I get clarification on assists?
I run only auto-clutch (as i dont have a clutch pedal). I'm 2nd to Neo on hockenheim national by approx 2 tenths. However on the replay you can clearly hear traction control on Neo's car?
Are traction control and other assists allowed for hotlaps? If i did the same lap with TC on I'm sure i'd have gone faster than him.

if we apply the 2 wheel on the track rule:
1- by track do we mean the ASPHALT? (gray part)?
2- there should be someone checking the hotlaps submitted, posting laps like neo's monza 2004, (an impossible time) where he cuts chicanes on three occasions, leaves the rest of us in pretty bad shape.
3- gtr2 being open, the car should be checked for modding also.
4- also specifying if the lap is made in SIM, PRO, etc...
5- suggestion: it would be interesting if the motec file was included, so we could really share setups and driving styles.
thanks to no-grip for this initiative, keep it up!

Cutting the track, modded cars are cheating, no question.
Any other issues would need implicit direction from forum moderators (and ways to insure compliance).
Gaming wheels without a clutch or a stick shift should not get a bye if the actual car uses both.... that is under strict conditions of 'pure sim'.
Or, why should various setups be allowed if the challenge is to make the best 'driving lap'. This makes it almost a 'mechanic sim' not a driving-racing sim.
The answer to both of the above is what are the wishes of those who provide this forum.
I suggest all laps be strictly default cars and setups. Paddle shifting with no clutch permitted.
Again, that is up to this forum. Traction control is part of the game currently as well as various setups, and the 'no clutch' option. Neither is cheating.... modded cars and cutting the track is not part of the game.
...Just my 2 cents.

Hi Karlos
1 My car is not modded.I can prepare my setup better than you...
2 We still dont have the rules abouth cuting ,the car is on the green zone
and on the curb.
3 Yes I am using the traction control ,in F1 they did this too.
4 If you think that with traction control is easyer.....turn ON your traction

I am always willing to learn from my betters.
But you are correct that this is just a game to me.
This is my second wheel (g-25) and previously I had a MOMO.
I have only been driving it a short while... 1000 laps is a lot.
If I drive a thousand laps will a Saleen s7-R turn into a 'safety car' like yours did and allow me to run those super fast laps?
Will I also be able to run 3 wheels over the rumple strip (and one out in the grass) and still keep traction to run those super fast times.
Again, this is just a game to me. I drive mostly against the AI with no driving aids using the clutch and shifter in Rfactor and live for speed.
Playing with these lap times is of nothing more than a novel interest to me.
I could care less if I better your time or not.... Or, if I have to drive 1000 laps to get to use the safety car.

Look at the reply. The safety car is doing the lap!
http://www.nogripracing.com/hotlaps/gtr2/JInFORCE_Hockenheim_National_Saleen_S7-R_01_20_367.Vcr
So either he hacked the game so he could drive a safety car, or he's using a mod, theres no debate about that. I have no mods installed at all, I can drive normal cards fast enough.
And no hes not better than me, I play on simulation. If you don't play on simulation you may aswell be playing need for speed. Look at the lap its not perfect, he slides the car around and lets the traction control sort it out, wheres the skill in that? Also he just has to stomp on the brakes and never worry about them locking. He massively cuts mobile1, which as you mentioned F1 they did not cut that turn as they knew they would get a penalty, the only green part of the track they used legally, was on the outside of turn 1.
If he's so good why does'nt he play the game on simulation? Answer: he does'nt have the skill to drive without traction controll and braking assist, and playing on easier difficulty also makes the physics of the car easier to handle!
Don't get in my face when clearly he is using a modded car, the reply is up for everyone to see. If you can't see it well maybe you use the same mods as your mate.
Jinforce is a noob(for using TC and ABS, and playing the game on easy) and a cheat(for using a modded car and cutting the track) as far as i'm concerned.

Hey guys, please do not argue. I do not want to be the peace keeper here (i do not have any right to do it), but i think this will lead nowhere.
Maybe for the safety car look, JinForce was just using another skin, which is not in the game.
About setups i believe, that this is one of the great things in this game, that you can adjust your car to your style and to the track characteristic, just as in real life, which will allow you to go faster, but of course this needs lot of practise and trials.
About my times and setups and aids used:
- yes, i use TC and ABS, maybe if the hotlap part can be divided between different sim levels would solve the problem
- about cutting, until the game allows the laptime (does not say that lap will not count) i believe it is ok. Also i do not see any other method of controlling the laps, who will watch over all those laps, and moreover who will decide subjectively what is cutting and what is still ok?
And after all, still this is a game, from faster laptimes maybe we can learn from each other, or if not, it is still a good fun!
Peace: Neo

No Mods allowed is the rule, thats the point of uploading the replays. If he really is a full second faster than the next guy (thats you neo) then he won't mind the lap being deleted, and he can do it again in a normal car, and upload that reply instead.

Fast with assists and fast without assists are a million miles apart, if he can do a fast lap without assists fair play to him(auto-clutch is all i'd consider ok). But i've not seen one yet.
Can I get clarification on assists?
Are traction control and other assists allowed for hotlaps? If i did the same lap with TC on I'm sure i'd have gone faster than him.
its impossible to have an easy way to police what assists a driver uses, I've emailed simbin in the past and asked if such data is stored in the replay, and if so where/how but as usual it seems their attitude is that they have made their money and dont care to help...
I have no intention on watching every replay submitted to see if I can hear/see traction control etc being used, and even if I did have time I dont believe that is an accurate way of checking, so we have no choice but to say anything goes for driver assists

Hey, I am sold.
You drive 1000 laps and the Saleen turns into the safety car.
Works for me.
as stated before its possible that these times are made with addon skins that provide no performance gain, and I believe that the majority of laps like that are honest times. However to keep things simple I agree that all times must be set with an original unmodified car, so any replays submitted can be downloaded and viewed in a default game install without the dreaded 'pace car' appearing
rules clarification : all times must be made with 2 wheels on the track, the edge of the track is definied as the outer edge of the tarmac or where there are kerbs in corners then the outer edge of the kerbs, EXCEPT for the odd place like the chicanes at monza where there is green painted concrete behind the kerbs and as this is used in real life I think its ok to allow here too.
I'll add some screenshots to the hotlaps rules to clarify matters shortly

does anyone want to volunteer to be a moderator for the hotlaps? I personally just dont have time to check all replays but if anyone is keen to help out and has the time to download & check times when necessary then it could be a good idea.. send me a private message if you're interested ;)

Thank goodness it doesn't take them 1000 laps.
I had traction control on the lap I submitted, my throttle control is about as sensitive as igneous rock. But I am working on it and I did a 2'03.0 in a Lotus Elise with the default set up and no driver aids the other day. So things are looking up:)
