Is it easy to repaint a car? I want to paint Ford Escort but don't know how to... I bet someone in tha forums might know how to do that.

First go to NoGrip's download section and dowload these files :

GEditor (enables you to open .gtl files) : http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=1863
CAR files (.car files in game are encrypted, you can open and edit these ones with notepad) : http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=879

Then, in order to know how to do, you should have a look there : http://forum.rscnet.org/showthread.php?t=252501

If you have any further questions, feel free to ask.

Hi sorry to jump on this but I have down loaded the GEditor.
But can't see the gtl files in the import section, the only file extension available are DDD,GMT,TGA,BMP,ANM.
In the open GTR files area I am also unable to see gtl files as the only options are (GMotor1.00 GTR Files ).
New to GTLegends so need a bit of help, all I wish to do is edit/paint a skin.

I do have Paintshop pro9 and adobe photoshop5 with nvida dds plugin.

May thanks Kevboy.:roflmao:

Well, GEditor has been created for .gtr files but it works for .gtl files as well.

Go to the folder in which you want to a open a .gtl file. Choose the file you want to open double-click on it with the mouse. Now you've got an information window saying that Windows can't find a program in your computer to open this file and asks you whether you want Windows to search a program on the web or if you prefer selecting one from a list. Tag the second choice : choose from a list and click ok. Then in the program list, if GEditor doesn't appear, click on 'Browse' to select it from the folder where you've install it. Once you've selected GEditor, back in the list window, don't forget to check 'Always use this program to open these files'. Click OK and then GEditor will open your .gtl files. Also you should notice that now all .gtl files got the GEditor Icon. And now all functions would work like import etc for .gtl files.

Another small pob.
When I save from a psd(template) to DDS in Paintshop pro9 I get the error Plug-in cant't read the requested format. How ever I know the plug in works with other dds files.
Any thoughts?:confused::

Save your Painshop Pro file as TAG file then use the DDS plug-in again, it should work fine.

I flatten the PSD file, save it and convert it to DDS with this handy converter:

I too need a solution.

I've not found a DDS plugin, only an install program that says it's for PhotoShop. Since I have PSP and don't have PhotoShop, I don't think that the install is going to find any place to install.

I found the install on the invidia site I think. Couldn't find just a plugin. Guess I didn't use the right words for Google to find what I want, 'cause it didn't.

Where can a PSP only user find a DDS plugin? tia

Go to the links I've given in my first post above here, all is explained. The nVidia tool is a plugin. Install it wherever you want, but as far as I can remember the installer asks you what is the path to your design software.

You won't be able to open DDS files directly, for that there is GEditor : GTL files are actually files in which are compiled one or several DDS files. The plugin is used when saving your template project as a DDS file in Photoshop or whatever. If you want to open a DDS file that isn't in a GTL file, I guess you should use a very cool tool that is very well known by flight simulator designer : DXT BMP. This tool is first used to convert BMP files into specific BMP formats (DXT1, 2, 3..., R8... etc) with or without Alpha channel etc... Those specific BMP's are used by Flight SImulator for textures. Well I've tried to open a separate DDS file with it and it works. DXTBMP is link to your photo/drawing software so you can transfer your file into it to rework it. But becareful you won't have all separates templates though. That's why I don't use it for GTL. BUt if you like to see how it goes for you, you can find it here : http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Graphic/Graphic-Editors/DXTBmp.shtml

Hope this will help you :)

Can those skin files only open with Photoshop? I don't have it and it's pretty expensive...

You can make skins with any photo/drawing design software. Photoshop is one of the most used. And it is also mentioned very often because when you start making a skin, you often start from a PSD file with all tempaltes needed. The PSD format is the Photoshop work format, that is to say that is the format in which you will paint and add/modify things in your graphic file. Then after once you have finsihed your wor, you save it as the format you need (DDS for GTL or GTR, JPG, BMP...).

If you don't have Photosop or any other program (like Paint Shop Pro as well) that can open and edit PSD, I guess you can use the free demo (see on Adobe website) which works enough for making textures. Look in the links I've posted earlier in this thread and read the articles in them because they mention that.

They are also free grapichs softwares such as The Gimp which I think (but not 100% sure) can work on PSD files. Concerning DDS conversion, as said in the links above, it is a plugin made by nVidia that will works only into Adobe design softwares (Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Paint Shop Pro...). So if you're using a free software you'll have to use the free Photoshop or other demos just to convert your final files.
