View Full Version : Question about Thrustmaster RGT FFB (Clutch) wheel

Hi,

I've been trying to find a steering wheel that has progressive accelerator
and brake that can be operated with steering wheel levers.

I'm a wheelchair user and can not use the pedals at all.

Most wheels that I've been able to test only have on/off action
when accelerator and brakes are operated with the levers and this
makes driving very difficult.

Seems that the Thrustmaster RGT its about the only wheel that promises
progressive operation....

Could someone please confirm that the RGT really can be operated without the pedals,
before I go and spend another 100€ on this wheel?

And is there a difference between the non-Clutch and Clutch version in
regard to this lever issue? The Thrustmaster support seems quite slow in
responding to my queries.

BR,
Hannu

Hi Hannu, I wish I could answer your question about the RGT based on experience but I have never used one. I did however find this review, which claims the lower paddles can be used as progressive levers, thus, what you are looking for:

The Thrustmaster Rallye GT Pro Force Feedback has some really cool features. The most interesting feature of the Thrustmaster Rallye GT Pro Force Feedback is its five axes design. The additional axes of the Thrustmaster Rallye GT Pro Force Feedback allows you to bind progressive controls for the clutch, cockpit view, hand brake or other controls to the paddles below the sequential shifter paddles.

I also wanted to suggest that a possible (temporary) substitute for a wheel can be a Microsoft "Xbox-360 PC" controller (which I used for GTR2 before getting a wheel). This controller has progressive triggers that you can use for gas and braking. Logitech is currently producing a similar pad with cooling fans included, and Thrustmaster has a PS2-like controller including extra triggers.

I hope someone that has used a RGT can give you a more straight answer. Good luck and welcome to the forums! :D

Thanks for the tip,

I finally found a local shop net-shop that had the FGT wheel and allowed me to test it without the pedals and to my delight it works perfectly! The levers can be used for progressive acc and brake.

So this solved my original problem. Now I have the new problem that after one evenings trying I can't match my old lap times that were made with on/off acc&brake. Well ... practise, practise, practise, I quess.

Cheers,
Hannu

Really great news!! :D Good to hear the wheel works the way you wanted!
And I'm sure your lap times will become shorter as you get used to the wheel.. ;)
