Well, after a 4 year departure from pc gaming I recently jumped back in. GTR 2 was at the top of my list to play and I did just that. It is nice to see that GTR 2 has such a strong following in the mod community. I understand the file structure system, un-raring files, and installing the files but I have a basic question about online play:

I have seen a ton of threads where people cannot play online due to numerous issues. I am worried that if I start installing skins, cars, and tracks that I will not be able to play online. Are there certain cars, files, tracks, etc that I should stay away from? Would it be a good idea, or even possible, to install a second copy of the game and just use mods on that? I have yet to install any mods and I have yet to go online, but I do not want to screw up my files and then be banned from online play. Thanks for any information.

i know the mod that enables the broken motec on the gillette and ferrari will get you kicked as modded.

otherwise, ive not had issues.

the thing to remember: if it modifies the original files=kick. if it just adds to the originals=ok
