I read somewhere that International Speedway Corporation (who closed tha track nearest my home:mad: ) is building some ovals in the UK and Europe in hopes of expanding NASCAR internationally. I'm sure this is pissing alot of people here off (notably MMurph60 and manzarek whom dislike this style of racing).
What do the rest of you European and British NoGrippers think? Do you want to see this expansion or not?
P.S. Sorry I don't have a link to an artical...I think I saw it on a yahoo! news blurb...too busy with school to search...anyone else have a link?

What me! never!:D
I think they have probably left it a little late plus going in the wrong direction, motor sport is leaving Europe as the economic power of the middle east and countries like China and India is drawing series like F1, DTM and MotoGP to it. European motor sport is driven by the car manufactures and as far as trying to sell us a car well we are pretty much now set in our ways, countries like China is where the money is to be made hence F1 being there, they missed out decades ago in Europe by not trying to sell American motor sport and if they want to expand on a global level and compete with the likes of F1 and DTM then they need to follow the money.

I like the idea! NASCAR in Europe and UK is sure to make the popularity here grow. Although I like IndyCar more :(

I agree manzarek. The news threw me for a loop. (no pun intended) It seems like they think that Juan Pablo Montoya is going to make the international community drool for more NASCAR. I much preffered the idea a couple years ago of AU V8's coming to the U.S. to run some joint events with NASCAR...never happened of course.
I can't stand ISC...they stole our Colorado Oval that had BUsch and INDY, then they tried to block the Pheonix Grand Prix citing a noise ordinance! Strongarm Bastards!

I like the idea very much, I like NASCAR and I'd love to see it live someday.

Another example is having Champ Car in the Benelux... it's fantastic! :)
I don't like ovals, but that's personal... they remind me of my belly. :D
But I like the idea of Motorsports expanding their current boundaries...
NASCAR coming to Euorpe or AUSV8's going to the States, that's why
I really love A1GP because it has races in every continent. Well almost,
when we have a race in Brasil happening then it's a real World Cup... ;)

I can't see them building another oval in the UK. Rockingham isn't really a success AFAIK, however a couple of mates who race IRL say they like their meetings there.
I'd much prefer to see NASCAR at Cadwell. :D

Is cadwell a roadcourse?
bob jane built a oval track here in melbourne (thunderdome) got used in the early 90's but now it just sits there falling apart.they had NASCAR & AUSCAR aussie version, (commodore vs falcon) falcon holds the world record for the most number of rollovers in one crash 14 i think from memory, wasn,t much left of it when it stopped rolling. Wyn Percy enter a 308 (5.0 LTR) 2 door commodore in the nascar race one year (USA Vs AUS) and it kicked ass.they soon got rid of that idea.

Is that where MadMax retured to? :)
I Love Ford, Australia, Falcons (Atlanta) and Mad Max!
BTW Go Lowndes!!!! (got robbed last year)
I am a huge NASCAR fan (i live in new york) I hate ISC also. they said they were going to bulid a track right near me (about a 30min drive) Than when they stated buliding they just STOP working. I dont like the fact that nascar wants to expand. I dont like the fact that toyota is in nascar. but if it makes it more popular than i am all for it, On the other hand I am a huge V8 fan i watched the whole season. I lave Craig Lownds. BTW did any one see marcus ambrose's 8th place finish in the nascar race at Mexico City

Missed the mexico busch race...heard that Ambrose was spun midrace and fought hard for that eighth spot. I would've been more interested to see how Montoya spun his teamate late to gain 1st...even worse than Bourdais!
Am I corect then xmurrx that you DO NOT want a N.Y. track?
Here in Colorado the citizens of Commerce dity near Denver International Airport are protesting ISC building an oval because of the noise...they live near an airport!!!
No i wanted a track and then they just get up and leave. People protested about the enviorment and the noise. Come on u live in NEW YORK
