View Full Version : rF1GP Challenge 2006 v1.25 released
Now I've been driving a lot of F1 mods lately and I have got a sort of fuzzy recollection that though this mod isn't an accurate model of the real F1 grid the cars themselves are really fun to drive. And if memory serves the sound is frantic and there is that mad clacking when changing gear. Forgive me but I love that, it makes me feel like I'm actually in a car and not sitting at my office desk bunking off work!
And mad as it may seem for a F1 2006 season mod there is an ing Renault skin by Trotter2k! He he.

I hear good things about this forum as a useful source of info, so why not sign up, so here I am :)
I sent the release candidate to a couple of people V2.03 it is up to now just to make sure that all is OK.
As Trotter said it has moved on a lot from v1.25. Now there is an addon available in the form of FIA 2007 skins. I expect that it will be available for download in the next couple of days.
Thanks for the comments Snowy and yes you are right, the mod didn't start out to try and be an f1 mod, the shapes are fantasy and couple of chassis got added, then Trotter joined the team and started painting the 07 skins so the 07 addon pack came to be and I developed the physics on top of that.
If you are into pure cosmetics than this mod may not be for some in that the shapes are not replicas of their real life counterparts with exception of the Ferrari (but even no accurate blueprint were used for that).
If however you want a reasonable representation of what might happen in F1 it has come out OK and I am pretty happy with it for my own use, so why not share it with the community. See attachment just as an example what the timing sheets give. So you will never see a spyker, or an Aguri on pole, but a Ferrari or mclaren.
Obviously I could have spent more time, done more, but as I have had to do modelling and physics and have no other help in this apart from Trotter skins, (for which I am grateful) and also learning along the way. The slower cars are more low poly models based on the FIS and the later two shapes that got added were scratch made.
Pretty satisfying though if you can drive the worst looking and slowest cars and try and beat those ferraris.
Incidently it will also be the final update. Unless we find something critically wrong in time
