1. Unzip Riverside_GTR2_1.0.zip
2. Copy folder 'Riverside' to 'C:\GTR2\GameData\Locations\ folder.

Information about the track

Riverside Raceway was a real race track in California, United States.

Tested:
open practise and race weekend mode

Converted from Nascar Legends/N2003 to GTR2 by Kimmo Kokkonen. Original Nascar Legends version made by Papyrus.

cool track, love the blind turns with elevation changes.....I grew up in So.Cal. near this track, but never saw it in person, just on TV. Great to add to my collection. Thanks!
BTW I did a 1:13.799 last night with a bmw m3 gtr!! And yes speeds arte faster with the GT's etc.

Hi hoboholic,

Did you try it with original GTR2 car? If not you should! And try it with car you know it's working correctly on some other track, thank's.

Note: you should always create log file with addons (trace.txt, trace=1000), so you could very easily find reason for CTD.

I love Riverside, but I think it could be made better by adding curbing (like the PWF version has), and by moving the pits/garage area and start/finish line to the long backstretch.

Add string 'trace=1000' with space to your GTR2 shortcut properties Target field (see picture). Start GTR2 and try open the Riverside track.

If it gives you CTD again, so you could find the trace.txt file from 'C:\GTR2\UserData\LOG' folder (see picture). Send that file to address keni1@kolumbus.fi pls, thank's.

I have seen that in the chikane right after the goal line, after the pit exit, a lot of crashes happen hehe.. the AI sometime goes in too fast there and causes a pile up, that is fun and it is really fun to pass them in 4th gear while they try to get untangled hehe

The download is EXTREMELY slow, chugging along a 40K/sec. Can't you get this track onto a decent download site, or at least have someone else mirror it? I'm afraid many people will give up on it rather than sit and wait several minutes for it to download.

I absolutely love this track. I was racing the hell out of Phillip Island until this one came along. I already have more than 200 laps on this course . . . there's something about it . . . it just appeals to my driving style. Well Done.:D

The hardest part of driving this track is remembering that I can't skirt the sides of the track like I was able to do in NR2K3. The physics in GTR2 don't allow even the slightest bit of fudge where going traversing the esses is concerned (this actually makes the track more fun and technical). It would be nice if someone converted the PWF version, though, because it has curbing that helps you see and feel the turns better.

I understand that this is a conversion track, but like other add-on tracks, you can fall off the edge of the world and your race is over - your only recourse is to hit ESC and get out. Catch-fencing needs to be added so that this doesn't happen (this also happens at the other riverside track that's available, 1967 Spa, and others).

All that being said, I'm eager to drive this track with the upcoming GTL Cars mod.

LOL, it all comes down to perspective I guess. This track will take approx 1 hour 20 minutes to download for me. rFactor takes the best part of 36 hours. If I want to grab a new track I usually queue it up before bed and try it out in the morning.

Gotta admit, I miss my broadband. But I'd call anyone who gives up on a new track download after "several minutes" a wee bit impatient.

HA! Yes, you are right, of course. My personal issue is that in my house I've established a 'one-hour rule' that applys to me, my wife, and my three children. Noone is allowed to be on our computer for more than an hour at a time! So even though I have this wonderful broadband and sometimes experience a transfer rate of more than 2 MB/sec (!), if I have a half dozen files I want to download before driving a 20 lap race, I get nervous if the transfer rate slows to anything less than about 200K. :D

Entirely cool!!

I grew up in that area too and the first race I ever saw in person was a 6 hour endurance race with my Dad. One driver of a Porsche 911 was none other than Paul Newman himself :D . I remember his car's engine giving up and cathing on fire right in front of the grandstands we were sitting in.

LOL. I remember those days... I also remember how, after the kids were out of diapers but before they were old enough to be on the computer, I used to race full 2-hour GPs. That was Crammond's GP2 and I thought nothing could be better! :rolleyes: Then I got GTR and was reawakened to the immersive possibilities of computer racing sims! Now I might have to get a cheap second computer just for billpaying, E-mail, and My Space. The wife and kids won't need my top-drawer NVidia card for that sh#t! :p

There's some texture flashing on the backside of pitwall, and in the grandstands at the s/f line. I only see this in replays.

hey keni, i FINALLY got the track to work,
i went into the TRK file for Riverside and deleted the sign76 line thing,
i opened gtr2, and it worked:D
finally i can say, well done on the track:up:
