I have a riddle for the versed, about Nvidia's videocard technology acronyms.
We've got LE, then there's the GS, then the GT... where does the TD stand? :confused:

I have an Asus N6600 TD and I've spent most of the day trying to unscramble
the meaning of that TD, so I can figure out how good/bad this card is compared
with her other siblings from the 6 series... so far, no avail. :( All I have is specs:

Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce 6600
Core Clock Speed: 300 MHz
RAMDAC Clock Speed: 400 MHz
Memory Clock Speed: 500 MHz
Video Memory Installed: 256 MB
Technology: DDR SDRAM 128-bit
Interface Type: AGP 8x

Now, if I try to do a comparison at a trustworthy site it's not even listed.
The closest I get is the 6600 AGP but the Memory Clock Speed says 275!

The TD is not listed as a standard Nvidia acronym:

So I'm assuming is ASUS fault for naming it like that and confusing my life:

Well I know what is TC ( turbo cache ) , my friend has 6200 TC, but TD...... well I'd stick to lowndes888's idea - turbo drive.
I'm sure that the T of the TD means Turbo but D...

It's just Asus' way to name models so your card is just a basic 6600.

TC is TurboCache, my 6600 GT is TC, but TD...:confused:

As far as I know 6600GT's don't have Turbocache, and you should be happy with it. ;)
Turbocache just sucks ass. It takes systemmemory for the graphics card, and system mem is slower than graphics ram. Besides this, you lose system ram.

And I thought it was the other way around. TC doesn't use systemmemory.

I had a 7300le with turbo cache and couldn't OC because of the use of system memory. It had 128mb onboard but claimed to max at 512. The card would not perform adequately for this game.

i agree with him , seems they are using it on quite a few of their products.
Even on totally different cards. TD = TV out, Digital Video Out + VGA out (except on High end cards) every 6 series card at the asus site has TD in its description but get this , there is a 7600gs HTD which as feature the 6 series don't ( HDTV out , hence the H added to the product description )

maybe that is because they thought anything diesel is a truck :p
