This is one thing that seriously ruins this game compared to GTR2. Anyone found a way to disable it?
Wha?
In practice of the mod of your choosing type ISIBABYFACTORY in the chat window box thingy. when you come out everything in that mod will be unlocked and you will be incredibly rich. Is that what you wanted?
You could edit your PLR file to give yourself bigger rewards if you wish to speed things up a bit rather than just getting everything in one big indigestible lump.

Like snowy stated. Start the game, select what you wish to race, then a car. Now go and test a track. Now you are in the monitor window and on the bottom left there is a chat window. Left click your mouse in there, type ISI_BABYFACTORY, has to be caps, hit your Enter key. You can either go race or exit the map and next thing you know, you're rich and all cars have been purchased for that event. You'll need to do the same thing for all.

Yes it's a bit NeedForSpeedish... Good modders put items price at -1 though...

Oops :o :o
you can also edit the "money" line in the cch file for any particular mod. Some people like the challenge of earning the credits, I think it's a good thing to include in any sim.

i very much hate the unlock ideal in games. it's too much like the mmo grind. any game that does that, the very first thing i do is unlock it all before i even start.
i'll play the game and enjoy it, but im not going to be stuck repeating task x over and over to get item Y.
i played swg way too long to ever do that crap again.

Yeh but so did GTL!.....but we all know you can create more than one profile for Having it all or working your way thru as a challenge! ;)
I sometimes go back to GTL "Legit" mode just to get the satisfaction of beating the AI and earning a car, and if you've all tried it, it does get alot harder later on. :roflmao:
So i wonder what the structure of a future Sim by ISI or simbin et al will be based on?..How arcady or simmy could it be, personally i thought the TOCA race driver idea of building your status worked pretty well, but it was a little bland too!...mmmhh maybe we could start a thread on what Ten things in a sim make it feel real and not arcady ect?

Well an unlocking system is not bad at all if formed as a career IMO.
It gives a feel that you need to do something, rather than racing single races or championships.
The one thing I like about the ToCA Race Driver series....especially TDR2:p

maybe the game should be set-up as to where if you race in career mode you have to earn everything.. but if you just want to race single races everything should be available.

The worst credit system ever for me is for the Gran Turismo Series... you have to race dozens of races with a stock Volkswagen Polo before getting the possibility to drive a Honda Civic... come on guys! I own a Honda Civic in real life... this is really a torture!
And yes i had forgot that GTL has one too... oh my god I've been so depressed because of that game! I had started in Pro mode and then day after day I had to go down a little bit... when I realized I was about to start a career as a beginner I threw the DVD away and decided to become a rastafarian and go to Ethiopia... Ah sweet memories...

That is a great idea, and makes perfect sence... I just want the option to get to the racing... I don't want a game to force me to spend hours upon hours unlocking things... give us a choice.

Exactly... I don't miss console games one bit... Too bad some PC games take the console game approach and make you jump through hoops... just a waste of your time.
They should rename cheats! Call them nonassholacreditations! :unf:

I think a well designed career mode is a definite plus for those who race off-line (which is most people who buy "mainstream" sims such as GTL/GTR/NR2003/F1C). I agree that IMO the standard rFactor career isn't well designed, and I abandoned it after a few days. But like many others I have really enjoyed the GTL career mode, and I also enjoyed the Rally Trophy career.
I'm afraid I need some kind of motivation to complete something like a championship. In 6 years racing GPL (offline) I don't think I ever completed a championship while in 6 months racing GTL I'd completed loads. Maybe its my flight sim background where the mission approach is common, and of course its pretty standard in most games/sims. And while I can see that the "start with the slower cars and move to the quicker cars" approach doesn't appeal to everyone, for an average driver like myself, both Rally Trophy and GTL provided the perfect learning curve and I have really improved alot.
Its interesting reading the TDU section at RSC how many "serious simmers" are enjoying that challenge based title and I haven't read any complaints.

I bought TDU, I tried it one hour then felt asleep... This was 2 weeks ago... I can't even remember the car I had bought... An Alfa GT 3.2 V6 maybe...

I must admit the TDU career mode seems a bit too complicated for me. And while I can certainly live with unlocking cars, in TDU you have to unlock the most realistic physics, and it doesn't happen early on but near the end as I understand it. That does put me off :) That and there is no demo.
"Most" of us are avid sim racers many of which have gotten tired of the career modes and have chosen to go online racing, however as a league owner with over 400 races logged, I can say that most of the best people I've met online have gone thru career mode in at least one sim. Good or bad a career mode teaches people alot and it helps prepare them for their first online experience. Those that never race online will have an entirely differant view than my own, and I won't debate their opinion, but I do believe even a poor career mode will make a better driver out of anyone willing to to spend the time.
