First off I must admit I don't have Photoshop or PSP 8,9,10 or 11. At any rate I have renamed all the files in the folder to reflect the # I will be using on the car. Edited the .CAR file. Saved the different paints to .dds dxt1 and dxt5 for the windows files using Blackman mip map filtering. Imported into GEditor deleted the original files. The problem is the file names are there but I don't see anything in the view window. when I select any of the files I imported I get.....

"Access violation at address 10008381 in module 'DevIL.DLL' read of address 00383000."

If I save as a .gtr file and then try to open that with GEditor I get...

"Access blah blah blah 10007E46 blah blah 'DevIL.DLL blah blah 0FD81004"

I have spent literally hours trying to find out what I have done wrong. I even tried some things I knew were wrong and still come up with the same thing.

I have everything done except the .BLK file and saved to TGA's. Anyone know what is wrong or willing to put these into .GTL files for me so I can drive my own car for a change?

If the GTR file has GMT files in it, it willl give a error. Click OK, you should still see the files in it . ( check to make sure Geditor ins't minimized) Now at the top off the tool bar, click on the little icon to import a file and import anyfile , doesn't really matter what cause your not going to save it anyways. Now you should have the option to export any file you want so you can change it. Once you export the files you want, just exit out. It eill ask you to save, just click no. Hope this help you and it makes sense to you.

N2LO, Howdy neighbor!! Winchester Va here. There are no GMT files in there. Just trying to put together the texture files. 120_ULTRA_TEX.GTL, 120_TEX.GTL, and 120_CPIT_ULTRA_TEX.GTL. 120 is the original file # but have changed those to the car # I will be using.

Hello Neighbor, Small world, I use to live on Senseny road up till 2 years ago.
I'm not at home right now, I would ask what version of Geditor your using. If you don't have it fixed by this weekend, I'd be happy to see if I can get it working for you this friday evening. (I'm a truckdriver in and out all week).
After rereading your first post, sounds like maybe your DDS files may be wrong format possible. I haven't painted to many cars ( 2 Maybe) Maybe if nothing else, send me your car files and I will see if I can save them in proper DDS format so the game can read them if thats the problem.

I think that may be the problem as I am using DXTBmp to open and save the .dds files. Doesn't seem to have the same options as the .dds plugin for photoshop

I think your right, I have Photoshop CS2 and have the DDS plugins, so if you still don't have it working, I will be happy to help you when I get home friday.
Good Luck.

You can see if any dds files will work in GTR2 by simply placing them into the car file without messing with GEditor at all. GTR2 has a heirarchy it follows with files. If it finds what it needs in the folder, it uses them and ignores the ones imbedded in the gtr files.

Place your redone dds file into the car folder. If it's good, you'll see the car with the new work in the game. If it's not a proper file, you either won't see the car or won't see your changes.

GTR2 doesn't have to have the gtr files at all. If you were to export all the dds out of a gtr and into the same folder the gtr is in, and then delete that gtr, the sim code would continue to show that car as if nothing had happened. It's actually a more efficient way to test your work. The gtr's are really just compression and collection devices.

Check your finished dds to see if GTR2 uses them. If it does, than you've got the problem a few others have, your GEditor is screwing up perfectly good dds files.

I am having and incredibly frustrating problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am running a fairly stout computer, and have had no problems in the past with GE Editor. I have recently purchased a Flat Panel Monitor, Samsung SyncMaster940BW, and now when i open GE Editor, my screen goes all wanked and have to shut down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No image, nothing but fuzzy blocks over the complete screen. I am running the digital cable, as opposed to the analog, for frame rates. But this problem started with the new monitor. I was using a Trinitron based Dell CRT Flat screen before, with no Probs....

HELP!!!!!!!
