It has been confirmed by the rfactor developers, as V1.260 but it isnt released and there isnt a date. :(

It will be interesting to see how ISI develop rFactor. Will we get rFactor "v1.5" with additional features but basically the same engine or will they go straight to rFactor "v2" with a new engine? It looks more likely to be the 1.5 option. But while they could just add weather and charge appropriately I would think they might well add more features and charge more. Perhaps the elements Simbin have added such as livetrack, the sun, animated driver and pitcrew? We shall see :)

As read in February issue of ASS:
ASS: How long wan we expect ISI to officially support rFactor?
Gjon Camaj: "Unfortunately, very shortly we will nt be able to support rFactor to the level we have to date."
ASS: Does this mean we will see an rFactor 2?
GC: I hope so.

Rain rain go away come again another day! I can wait, however the prospect of ISI producing another update is good, particularly as they said they'd done their last one with v1250.

I think they said v1250 was their last free update :)

This sounds like they've been picked up for developing another title that is taking priority over rF2. Have to pay the wages / bills after all, and the excellent free support they've give to rF so far won't have come cheap.

If it's an F1 title for EA, as they're getting the license back soon, then any additional features needed for this title should make it into rF1.5 / rF2.0 anyway.

If they added properly animated pit crews ( who cast shadows ), driver arms / legs, changeable weather, tracks progressively getting wet / dry, a Sun, proper selfshadowing in the cockpit and user skins for multiplayer, I'd be happy.

There already seems to be a fundamental problem in rfactor with low speed grip. why make the problem worse by adding rain?

I think the two are un-related but right now they are helping the Sim Factory make the ARCA Sim that's due some time but keeps getting delayed, that might have had something to do with them cutting back from supporting rFactor with any new free updates. They talked about features they had wished they could include in the last rFactor update but couldn't finish in time, I personally think rain was one of those features they talked about.

Whether they are getting back an F1 license or not, I think, is un-related to why they stopped supporting rFactor for free.
