Why must the best of every racing series die in a horrible crash? Aryton Senna, Dale Earnhart, they died in crashes.

Sad is a better word....

That was one of the blackest weekends in Formula 1. I can remember watching it live. Also a lot of people also forget that Roland Ratzenberger was killed that same weekend. The day before in fact.

If it wasn't for that sad event it could very well be Ayrton who would of held all the records not Schumacher. He was a wonderful driver and could very well of carried the greatest F1 driver tittle instead of Schumacher.

But as has been proved in history the brightest stars often shine for the shortest periods....

All we have is memories of a brilliant star.

senna wasnt going anywhere in that season personally, he was coming to the end of his career, schumacher just carried the torch which senna left. Senna and Schumacher probably had thesame amount of talent just in different areas.

Ayrton Senna = Legend

During that weekend after the incident with Ratzenberger noone wanted to race or qualify or anything!

Senna declared, discussing about F1 safety issues at the beginning of that year, that it was very likely a high-profile driver will perish in that season. On that same weekend Barrichello (Senna's protege) crashed and ended up in the hospital, Ratzenberger crashed and didn't survive... and then Senna. That weekend claimed those driver's lives... but since that very day, not one.

I remember exactly where I was that day... already being in a sad
mood for a day since those accidents of Barrichello and Ratzenberger.

I don't get why mankind only adapts when something horrific happens
and then suddenly is willing to change things.

The Tamburello for example already has allmost been fatal for Gerard Berger
in his Ferrari in the year of 89, he went of due to a suspension failure
(I think), in 1992 he went there with his teammate & friend Senna
to investigate if the outrun of the Tamburello could be expanded but
soon they found out that was impossible because there is a river behind
the infamous concrete wall.
