Track Frustrations

Hi everyone,

The frustrations on installing a few tracks are getting to me right about now. Ive installed about 50 to 60 tracks so far with no problem whatsoever, But there are a few of them that I am having problems with. When I try to load the track into the game. It goes to the load up screen and then all of a sudden. The game just crashes and the error that I get is as follows:

Error message: error opening MAS file "name of track" .mas

I get these those errors for the Indy road circuit track, estroril 88, Hermanos 88, and the Hungary track.

I also am having problems with 2 other tracks and they are Rally China and Rally Track. The error that I get for Rally China is as follows:

error loading: texture SHANDONGDX for material REVL_01
global material REVL_01

The error for Rally track is as follows:

Error message: error loadingtexture SHANDONGDX for material
global material SHANDONGDX for road_03

Ive downloaded these traks a number of times and I get the same error messages. Can someone tell me what is going on and why I am having problems with these 5 tracks. Thanks.....

Rally China: I know it might sound drastic but in the .TRK file you should find reference to that texture, just remove the line or lines that refer to SHANDONGDX or REVL_01 and see what happens! I have several tracks with supposedly incomplete textures but I rarely notice the difference. Sometimes it's just a sign post or a guardrail texture that is squiffy!

I have no problems with these tracks... Did you try to max your graphical settings ingame?

I dont even get to the screen where you are in the pits. Once the loading screen of the circuit map comes on. It just closes out the program.

BTW, The Hungary and the Indy road course, Which versions are better?

There are often issues with GP4 track conversions, don't ask me why there just are. So if it tells you it's a GP4 conversion be ready for your obligatory CTD's!

Ok...I just tried running a race at Monaco on the Monaco EMC circuit and when I did. 22 of the 24 cars were able to move on the pace lap, But myself and another AI car was stuck in the bleachers and we couldnt move one inch back onto the track.

This is getting so frustrating that now I am starting to realize why I wasted $40 on this game. Cant run Monaco in a race and cant install a few tracks.

It's a long shot but try turning off auto pit option in the Difficulty menu

You should have known that pc gaming can be really frustrating sometimes. Don't judge too fast though. You spent $40 on a modding platform. All the modders and track makers do that for free. That's something rare nowadays. I bought rFactor the very day of its release... played 2 days then left if 6 months... But there has not been one day since I bought it that I had regrets.
Be patient. Browse the forums. Make your way into the community. and may Google be with you.

When I said try to max your graphics settings I meant in the main UI ... the main menu...
I had thousands of CTDs with all games but for me it's part of the fun to try to fix that. It makes you meet great people in the community, and you can also understand how the game works technically.
If I had given up after a few CTDs... I'd still be playing Gran Turismo 4 and wouldn't be here with you guys. :D

The Monaco problem is solved. What happen was that I had 28 cars in the race and on the starting grid at 28th which I always do, Because I enjoy moving up along the pack. It is a challenge for me. How I solved the problem was that I went with 21 cars instead of 28 and this time I was on near the wall by the pits and I was able to race, So that problem is solved.

Now, The only thing that I need solved is China Rally, Rally track, and Hungary. Does anyone have a working folder of these tracks in their Rfactor folder right now. If so, Would it be possible for that person to send me those tracks via megaupload?
