Why individuals insist on doing these silly surveys is beyond me. First, it is worded incorrectly, should be favorite, or most popular, not best, as all this is based on personal preference. Aussies will always vote V8, Europeans and those in South America will go with F1 and so fourth as they tend to race what they are most familiar with.
Look at what mods are coming from what continents should answer a lot of the questions. The Pits, North America do NASCAR and Dirt truck. Then try the HRC mod which somehow got in to the HOF, looks sweet, physics as BS. Yet it is in there and somehow got coverage on a British channel.
I don't mean to slam you on this, I am sure you are sincere with your intentions and mean well. But I hope you see my point on these type of surveys, they've become very old very fast.

It's always good to know what others are thinking and polls put people on the spot, they have to think, consider what they really feel (or at least I do) about the subject. You're never going to please everyone with the selection but then up springs the odd thing that everyone forgets. Like why no FSone? What is the HRC mod really doing there. Fact is different people are looking for different things in life, My misses doen't like motorsport at all yet we get along. I want to vote for the V8's but I haven't driven them in anger for weeks, I'd like to vote for the 79's but they irritate the hell out of me, I'd like to vote for the McLaren F1 v3 which is brilliant fun. I'm still thinking and will cast my vote when I am absolutely sure about this!

I love the GP'79 cars so that's what I voted on. Most popular? Well, looking at what fills the servers night after night I'd have to say there is an awful lot of stock car mods being played (?!??!!??!???) and at least one server seems to get a consistent crowd wanting to run those funny little Renault Super Clios (I like them too!)
Caterham for the win, lol. From what I read at RSC they are being brought over to GTR2, can't wait :)

There are many Hall of Fame mods at rfc that simply aren't that good. You should all realise the ratings there are just one big popularity contest anyway.
My vote would be for Madcow's ORR or IDT's FBMW's.

I've only had rFactor less than one week. Sorry to bring this topic off tangent but I'd like to know which Mod works best right from the start? Which requires the least amount of work to provide realistic, clean racing?? It might not be your favorite but, may give you the least amount of headaches?
So far I've done a lot of toying around with the FSone 2006 & CTDP 2005 and, I'm sad to say, both are very unsatisfying. When I see drivers like Scott Speed & Tiago Monteiro not only qualify at the front, but finish on the podium, I consider that mod to be a total waste of disc space.
So far I'd have to say the ProRacer Mod is the most fun. I dunno which would be the "best".

Well the ETTC's are a good way to start, they handle well, and so are the Toyota Atlantics. After that, it's just what catches your fancy. You should download the Mod Manger if you intend on installing a lot of mods, which there are. I have two full DVD's of mods and tracks for rFactor and growing weekly...

For me
Best quality mod V8Factor.
Also An honorable mention for Historic Rally Car (HRC)
A real darkhorse for ya, Seat Leon Challenge, it's got diabolically low ratings on rfactor central??? But is in fact really great fun, the cars are driftable and behave like you'd expect a real car to behave!!! Which is quite unique in the sim world. Everybody striving to make the best most authentic mod just seems to produce more and more ridiculous attempts to make the cars twitchy unpredictable and unsaveable! I like a car you can lose and through a combination of steering and accellerator inputs get the car going in the right direction even if it is sideways. The Seat responds really well and predictably to driver input. And they are well modelled.
hii again maybe some body know where find wtcc mod for rfactor en f1 2007 mod for rfactor pleas help me send me mail korai@mailbox.gr or private message
Best mod...is not there yet....ALMS or Le Mans.......
Here's my opinion on all of the mods...
The Megane Mod 1.0 - Fun, but slow. The cars look really cool, though. Good mod for noobs....
3 out of 5
CTDP 2005 v1.2 - Good F1 Mod with all the paint schemes, proper sound files, and a custom gauge. However, it drags on the framerate a lot.
3 out of 5
V8Factor v1.0 - Works well on any computer. Great framerate and a blast to drive. Never enjoyed V8 Supercars in ToCa Race Driver, but in rFactor, it's a totally different story...
5 out of 5
GP 79 v1.1 - Car models and physics are top notch, but it's a shame that it hogs a lot of framerate...
4 out of 5
Zonda v1.1 - Not that good of a mod. Car skins are ugly. The car itself is ugly. Cockpit is nice though...
3 out of 5
Nordschleife v1.21 by Com8/Genghis99 - The GTR2 Version has nicer textures, but this is still a good track. Very bumpy, more so than RaceKing's version. Go download now!
5 out of 5
Brianza v1.0 by ISI - 6 Variations of Monza. Go Download Now!
5 out of 5
The VW Lupo Cup v1.0 - Useless. Slow, unexciting racing. The cars are ugly too.
2 out of 5
ORSM Bathurst v1.0 by ORSM - Very good quality track. Comes with the V8 Supercars mod.
4 out of 5
Racekings Golden Pork Motor Park :)

Well... this thread is a little out of date, but:
I'm gonna say F1 79 2.0, either that or V8Factor 2.0.
I wouldn't mind seeing this trend continuing. As people learn more about modding and physics in particular, the mods are updated to reflect that.
There are plenty of other good ones though. I've been having a lot of fun with SCC 1.2 lately. Really, there are enough high-quality mods so that whatever is my current favorite is dictated more by what sort of racing I happen to be into at the moment. That's a good thing.
For god's sake, someone needs to overhaul the Formula Atlantics though. They're fine right now for the most part, but with a little tweaking and cleaning-up that one could be great. There's something about the medium-HP open-wheelers that's awfully appealing to me. I like the cockpits too, great view- good sense of immersion.
Love,
Aero

Mine is now the Enduro Challenge. This is a great Mod...!
Next would be my first favorite, until I found the Enduro Mod.... are the Proton Mod and now it's coming to GTR2.
Finally, I just discovered a great mod which utilizes the Stock Cars in rFactor... "Feel The Speed" mod which increases the hp of all the stock rFactor crappie cars and makes them great competitive race cars and the entire class of cars are all equal. Great... try it, located at rfactor Central.

But about mods, i think its nearly imbossible to answer, 'cause rF has so many really great mods.
Yes, PCC '07 is great, BUT its fps-performance when racing with over 20 cars is simply h-o-r-r-i-b-l-e. GP '79 is another top-mod, as many others.
I have spend recently quite a much time with Dirtfactor, graphically its not anyhow with the bests, but oh boy how fun it is to throw car around dirt oval, with right setups its very enjoyable. And sounds are ace.

my opinions...
So76 (http://rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Spirit%20of%2076) and Caterham (http://rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Caterham) has, IMHO, the best physics
( the X1/9 is just awesome in its response and feel ).
ChampCar (http://rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=2006%20Champ%20Car%20World%20Series) mod ( up to version 1.2 ) had the best open-wheel in authenticity, research and physics.
As for "historic" cars, the CSGT (http://rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=CSGT%20Holiday%20Preview) stuff cannot be beat
( HistoriX is way off the mark compared to these beauties )

What he said!
VLN has great AI behavior. The door came off a car I was racing/crashing the other night. Never seen that before in ISI sims :)
p.s. I didn't vote because niether of them are on the voting list lol
The only other mod I've seen removeable doors in it the PCC2007 Porsches. And Some1's upcoming Supra will have it too. :)
.
Speaking of VLN, are there any evenly matched cars in the mod that would work well in a league? I guess I need to check VLN out. How is the FFB with say RealFeel, is it on par with HistorX?
Thanks
Historix here too and CSGT Hollyday preview if u like old school racing cars.

Protoracer was very good.
NAGT probably for me is the best on physics, so far.
rF3 was quiet good too.
Actually, I woulda said CTDP06, its more polished than 05. But I voted for that because the former wasn't on there
.
Historix GT & Touring and CSGT Holiday Preview. Hands down.
The most underrated mod, by far, is the 1955 F1.

HistoriX & TCL & CSGT LM70 = these 3 for me the best by far
GP79 and Touring Car Legends are great to me, but the one I like the most is VLN 2005 and the same guys that made this are working on a 2009 version. 2009 versions of F1, Megane Trophy and Nascar seem to be the hot pick as far as online racing. The newer F1s and Nascar do nothing for me and I havent tried Megane Trophy yet,so I cant say. The three that I have mentioned keep me busy enough. With all the sims out, theres only so much time. Most of my time is still with RBR and with the mod, most of my time is still spent with that. Of course thats a different story.
F1 classic, and the new FSone 08 aswell.

After all this time, I still rate the Supercopa Leon 2006 mod. The recent Hungarian painter skin packs have helped revamp the skins. I've always loved how sutle throttle changes can affect the handling.
The Enduracers Carrera Cup is another lost gem with great looking skins on a nice model, while like the Seat, it requires good throttle control.
Sadly, both of the about get very little if any public server loving these days... :crying:

The Enduracers Porsche will be back shortly for the Endurance Series mod.
do all these mods allow you to race against the AI in career mode?
Cant speak for all of them, but the AI in VLN 2005 at least tries to overtake, and has AI filters for each race of the VLN 2005 season. They also pit on the correct lap.
