View Full Version : F1 Mods Absolutely Retarded Starting Grids! Does the Talent Editor Fix this Garbage?

First of all, I only have version 1.150 installed because I heard the 1.250 is much worse in some areas(?).

I've only had rFactor for a couple of days but have mainly concentrated on the CTDP 2005 F1 & FsOne 2006 mod. I'm wondering if the Talent Editor will really fix the idiotic starting grid positions. If so, is there some sort of guideline for the entering the values in the drivers stats like Aggresion & Composure?

It looks like the higher the number, the less talented the driver is. I'm sick of seeing Michael Schumacher qualify below 10th. But I don't want to make things TOO extreme in his favor.

Does 1.250 fix this or make it worse??

If this Talent Editor provides nothing more than a cosmetic effect and there's no way to fix this crap, then I'm already sorry I bought this game.

Thanks in advance

There's a bug in 1.150 where the talent files aren't used during qualifying. Read this thread for a link to a workaround.

I don't race rF much offline anymore, but this bug has been fixed in 1.250.

And here's the modmakers subforum on RSC, which might come in handy for more info, tweaks, etc...

I have not had any problems since switching to the latest version. I have not tried this talent editor though. Where did you get this, rfactor central???

Thanks for those links. The search engine at RSC just locks up on me about 99% of the time.

Damn, that looks like a lot of work to get realistic results. I saw a thread at RSC on the problems with the 1.250 patch but it might be mod related. I'll take my chances on the latest patch and install it. It can't be any worse...

Yes (http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=rFactor%20Talent%20Editor)

Posted by MarkG on RSC, this was for v1150 but as ISI never actually sovled the problem it is probably still the nearest you'll get to a talented grid:

Talent files work Qualifying?

OK firstly apologies if this has already been mentioned but I cant remember reading it anywhere.
This is just a temporary fix so dont get too excited

Heres what ya do:

1) Set number of AI to 0
2) Under Opponents make sure the relevent box is still ticked (otherwise you get a warning of No Opponents Selected or something)
3) Go to Race Weekend & do a your Qualifying as normal on your own
4) Press whatever Button/Key relates to PAUSE (important)
5) Make sure it says "Qualifying Paused" on the right hand side
6) Now click 'ADD AI' (warning, the first car may take awhile to load on some systems)
7) Keep clicking 'ADD AI' until you have the correct number of opponents or the number you wish to race against. If a MOD uses 30 AI then DONT click 31 times or one AI driver will be doubled. (edit: seems the ADD AI button gets greyed out when you've maxed the MODs AI number...sweet!)
8) Now click "FINISH SESSION" (whilst the game is still paused)

The AI will now have their times, as already discussed to death the Talent files DO work when the FINISH SESSION button is pressed & they DO* work in Race Mode (* according to many who have tested this including myself, well I see it happen anyway so thats good enough for me!)

This can get a little tedious hitting ADD AI 30times or whatever but for offline championships its a great way to get a proper Real Life grid, only a temporary fix but it'll do for now.
Obviously this wont work for Online but at least its a little way there eh?

Any questions fire away but I think I've summed it all up pretty much!

Yeah thanks I saw that thread at RSC earlier. I usually like starting at the back of the grid so I rarely bother with qualifying anymore. I leave that option unchecked and just go right from practice to warmup & race. That gives a realistic starting grid as well.
