;) I have seen this before and had forgotten about it. I have just emailed to enquire about cost :D

One UK club member did the Historic Monte in a 1300S this year, so perhaps I could risk my own baby

The historic Monte Carlo is a regularity event. That means that you get a target time for each stage; when you are too fast or too slow you lose points. It should be pretty safe to do. :)

Well, you don't have time for an extended coffee break. The target times are set so that you have to maintain a reasonably quick pace, but not so fast that it gets dangerous. :)

but still it is just driving-like on a little trip :P

Yes it is worth the risk. I firmly believe that cars should be used and used hard :D That doesn't mean abuse them, but really give them a work-out.

Some people in the club are horrified that I use my car all year (even in ice/snow); but most think like I do. In fact one guy has probably the rarest car in the club (genuine 1800cc ex-works) - and he uses it at every opportunity in all weathers.

That's what I like about Alpine owners, the common thread is not so much seeing rows of cherished cars (like a Porsche owners club - YUK!), but ones that have seen use and carry their battle scars with pride.

A nice little story: A certain J Redele (yup the man who started it all) was viewing a gathering of Alp's and he came across one UK members car (well looked after, but USED) - he patted it on the roof, shook the owners hand and said ('scuse the French BTW) - "Bon - beaucoup de guerre!"

That particular car had, earlier in the year, been washed down a river in wales while crossing a ford during some sort of event :trophy:

Coupe Des Alpes - 4 days, 15000 Euros

Everything included, tyres, fuel, hotel, food.

Driver & Co-Driver can swap over.

Gp3 Alpine (1600s, big brakes, big gearbox - fully spec'd up)

If you want to drive a Gp4, it seems that you will need to have already done an event in a Gp3 (the Gp4 are valuable ex-factory cars!).

Expensive, but you weren't surprised were you? I suppose, for a fully supported "factory" drive it's not too bad.

Also (hehe), it seems that the Alp's are turning up to circuits (some of these events involve circuit racing) and are beating Ferarri Daytona's, 275's & even Ford GT40's :trophy:

it seems reasonably and i agree that you should use your car in every accasion but i must say that i would not do that :OMG: becouse i think that is hard for me personaly to set the limit between used hard and abuseing and i think i would get caried away by speed, emocions or somthing alse... :(

 BTW-that last avatar was my real picture :)

It's funny, when I look in a mirror it's in colour ;)

To me the difference between hard driving and abuse is quite easy to define.

Think - "how would Jackie Stewart do this" NOT "how would Gilles Villenueve do this" :D (maybe not fair on GV, but you get the idea).
