Logitech Driving Force GT Settings
It seems that a lot of people are having trouble getting their specific wheels to work right in Shift 2 Unleashed. I think it might be beneficial to have a specific thread for each popular wheel type since not all tweaks may apply to all wheels equally. Therefore, by having individual threads per popular wheel model, users will be able to discuss and thereby maximize performance of their particular wheel in Shift 2 Unleashed more easily, quickly and precisely.
I am a Driving Force GT user here and I've noticed that using default settings, the wheel feels a bit weird in Shift 2. There is a bit of input lag, the force feedback is rather poor even at 100% and sometimes there is a "floaty" feeling while driving. Anyone have any tips on getting the most out of the DFGT in Shift 2? S2U default set my wheel to 360 deg. of steering lock so I also set than in the wheel control panel. All other settings are default minus speed steering sensitivity which is default 0 and I set it to 50. |
I'm struggling too, I have still to try the Juls fix tonight.... maybe it will fix my lag.
If you have a good setup: give both Logitech profiler and ingame setup please! |
It almost feels as if there is no FF active while in a straight, there's no tension on the wheel and it feels loose. The wheel doesn't feel too much better on corners either, it feels loose as well almost as if I'm missing some feedback, it's hard to tell what the tires are doing.
|
They tested the game only with xbox and ps3 gamepad, so don't wonder if the force feedback is not as good as it should be in a "next-gen racing simulation", how EA called Shift 2.
|
I tried a setting of 240 deg. of rotation in-game and in my DFGT control panel, this made the wheel WAY too sensitive in game, even a slight turn would make the car veer hard left or right. I used the 240 deg. without a problem. Seems like S2U handles the wheel settings differently...
|
someone said 540 was perfect.... but do you have to change ingame and in the profiler?
|
I think you have to change it in both, if not they interfere and give you weird problems. Either way, I don't think that fixes the wonky force feedback...
|
I'm using a DFGT and all seems to be fine with me, aside from the occasional jerky feeling going into some soft turns.
I'm using 100% overall, Spring, and Damper in the profiler, as well as 70% centring spring strength. 720 degree rotation and "allow game to adjust settings" is unchecked. |
Played the game for about two hours. I'm not experiencing any sort of lag that is affecting my gameplay. Here are my settings for dfgt, both in-game and profiler. All sensitivity settings, I have it at 50%.

Interesting, I find that I have to have the Speed Steering Sensitivity at 50 for it feel good while you guys have it at zero.
Do you not guys feel the feedback is too weak? |
I use DFGT same as you 360°, but set the speed sensitivity to 0
Any other value of this gives you false feeling (I don't use Logitech profiler for this game) |
So here's how I'm playing now, wheel is set to 360 degrees in-game and in the Logitech software, all other settings are default. In-game everything is default minus steering lock as stated and dead zones all set to 0%.
The Lotus Elise and Exige though, handle really really wonky for some reason. All other cars seem to be fine. |
No one noticed the dead zone in the pedals? Really? Anyway, the FFB really is a bit of a letdown but at least the input lag isn't there or at least it is small enough to not be a problem. From what I tested so far the best settings are: in the profiler 100/75/75 no spring and no "allow game to adjust settings " with 450-540 rotation; in game steering/brake/acc sensitivity 50%, no speed sensitive steering no dead zone on the pedals (and yet there is a huge one) and 1% dead zone on the steering to make it stable at straight line, FFB strenght is a question of taste but at least 30-40%, and again rotaion at 450-540.
|
@kusari
Yes i have dead zone. like first Shift , but in Shift 1 i chance the Centre="0.000000" with Centre="1.000000" (like momo) in "vehicleset_pc_logitech_drivingforcegt_separateped als.xml" for both pedals Unfortunately in Shift 2 not working and somehow "vehicleset_pc_logitech_drivingforcegt_separateped als.xml" keep the default value after modification and saving file. Very weird. Please help! |
Well this is the first thing I tried but the xml files reset after you start the game and if you make them read only they don't but don't do anything either... Still no solution ...
|
I search in every file nothing maybe it is .exe file ???
|
same deadzone problem here. anyone got solution?
|
Hey all
I've only just got the game im running on a PC with my DFGT all default settings and i dont seem to get any input lag and the force feedback seem pretty good. I normally play Race 07 with all the mods and that |
Quote:
does this then knocks ffb off by the next race. |
Here are my current settings that seem to work pretty well. I use the follow settings in concert with anti-aliasing off in-game as it kills performance which causes input lag. Also, I tune my cars spring rate and damper settings to the middle instead of the default soft. I also have to press ESC to get proper force feedback when I enter a race.

Evrika !!!
1 In Logitech Profiler make a Shift 2 profile Click left on steering wheel-> axis propeties->lower sensitivity to 25%(lower setting increase reponse) 2 In game Chose yours controller - DFGT, DFRX, DFEX etc. Now set again both pedals. And done. Now you have 0% dead zone and decent steering sensitivity(not like in GTR 2) Tank you EA GAMES for 0 support. All credits to my wine !!! |
Does this fix the pedals dead zone ? If not what dead zone are you talking about ? (cant test it now)
|
&Does this fix the pedals dead zone ?
Yes |

@I'm not sure what you mean by setting again both pedals...
In game menu->controller setup don't leave default axial value Y,Z , press both pedals again . |
@SakuraBlack thank you man! It works! Actually you don't have to set a profile for the game just change the axis for the brake and acc. to 25% and all is fine. Thank you again!
@serial thriller don't know what causes the FFB to disappear (actually it is only the dampening not all the effects). The only solution for now is to alt+tab the game, click on global device settings in the logitech profiler and click OK to confirm the setting again. Then when you return in the game the FFB is OK, but goes away again if you restart or start a new race ... very annoying ... |

Reassigning the brake and accelerator pedal seems to fix the dead zones. You don't even have to change the sensitivity, mines at 50%.
|
Pause - unpause brings the FFB back. Very annoying, hopefully they fix it with a patch, since it sounds like a simple fix, or someone makes a mod for it.

Driving Force GT Shift 2 Unleashed Settings
My FINAL settings (I am satisfied for now). Most cars feel VERY good to me. I hope this helps someone else!:-D
Pre-notes: 1. To get rid of the pedal deadzones on my DFGT, as per Sakura Black's suggestion (mostly). All I did was reassign (Select Brake/Accel, Press F, Press Brake/Accel respectively) the brake and accelerator pedals in the in-game control settings and set their sensitivity to 50% in-game. 2. By default, I tune ALL my cars steering lock, sway bars, spring rates and dampers to the MIDDLE values on their respective scales. They feel much better this way. 3. I have AA turned OFF in-game and OFF in my graphics card control panel. I am NOT using AA. AA results in a BIG performance hit which results in INPUT LAG. 4. SOMETIMES you must press pause/unpause the game to get the Force Feedback to work right. Settings: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ntrolpanel.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...8-40-56-12.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...8-41-03-60.jpg |
I make custom profile for better and more precise reponse in steering , not pedals. Also i notice with default FFB setting in logitech profiler i have very good FFB.
Still some vizual lag and crapy contour graphics. Also you must have 60FPS + for smooth gameplay. Now someone make a topic at eagames/forum about this setting. Too many people have this problem. |
On my system turning NO/OFF the AA doesn't make any difference in FPS - 30-50 all the time. (E8400@3.6Ghz, 1x1Gb Corsair DDR2, GTX460 768Mb@800/2000). And I'm not sure that I feel steering lag. When FPS drop to ~30 there is that feel of lag, but when they are 45+ there isn't .. Much like in shooters - if you play with 25-30fps the mouse feels laggy, if you hit stable 60fps it is OK. So it is more of a performance problem to me than a controller problem. And the game needs a lot of optimization - hell it is more demanding than Crysis 2 (40-60fps on my system @1080p/advanced settings).
|
Has anyone compared this to the G25 driving experience?
|
Hi, i had also some trouble with my DFGT, so i tested several settings for the last week.
Now i have found out the best working settings for me. 1: deleted the game profile for shift2 in logitech profiler 2: reseted the global settings in logitech profiler to default 3: Increased the steering lock in logitech profiler to 900 deg. 4: Saved this settings and minimized profiler 5: Selected the DFGT - seperate pedals profile in Shift 2 options 6: Set the advanced options in shift2 (see the picture below) Now i have no deadzones for steering/gas-/brakepedals and force feedback works fantastic for me. Give it a try, for me driving shift 2 is 1000% better then before, especially critical cars like the lotus exige/Dodge Viper are more driveable because you can better dose steering and gaspedal. http://images.pctflux.net/2011042805...l_Settings.jpg http://images.pctflux.net/2011042847...T_Settings.jpg |
Gday guys
Im having a prob with my DFGT wheel and I see there are many solutions here. The thing is I don't even know what my problem is called. (I'm a wheel noob ). I have Juls mod and have installed patch. I get a slight clunk, clunk when going from left to right, particularly at slower speeds, when loosing some grip. It's worse in some cars particularly high power low weight. What is this called? Is it game problem ie bug/car settings or a wheel setting problem? Can it be fixed? Other than this I am finding the game and wheel quite enjoyable. Thanks for eveyone's forum activity  |

Our times have been comparable, so I'm happy at this stage.....if you look at the pick of the lap times you'll see I strung together 2min07 x4, with a best of virtually 207flat, so if you can thrash that time with a Benz190e works converted at Brno{day}, please inform us of the exact change{DFGT only} As you can see I've snapped all my settings, and I must say, that the Benz feels downright awesome to drive, but it's always been a great car, even before the patch. This is in elite mode, no mods, but with auto box{my paddles kaput} EDIT: [nURL=http://img245.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=11558_dfgt5a_122_408lo.jpg][/URL]http://img245.imagevenue.com/loc408/..._122_408lo.jpg Dropped rear tyre pressure a bit and after a few sloppy laps, went 2.05.3xx |
No one knows; the true ff working with instant race start. when you pause a game then resume; ff s crazy. its so hard to turning the whell and this s not real feedback...
|
In logitech profiler make sure you have disable "Allow Game To Adjust Setting" and now FFB work fine no need to pause/unpause or restart race.
Asz i said Shift2 it's a gay game with deflated tires time per lap are better |
your wrong :-)
road cars do use tire pressures of 32 up to ~ 45 psi. race cars usually use much lower tire pressure maybe around 16 - 32 psi. |
Quote:
|
You people ....
Check Shift 2 chassis file and Michelin Racing Tire Catalog . In game For ALL cars with deflated tires(about 100kPa) time per lap are better than real life pressure~200kPa.Very big difference. F.... |
not happening for me in most cars wihtout major upgrades.
where do you gain that time, higher corner speeds, turn in, less sliding... or maybe just in faster (super)cars :?: |
its not wrong w your setting or the weel setting. this game is crap!!! noting do w sim!!
|
I found a solution for me - lets wait for GTR 3.
|
Off:Dreeeam, Dream, Dream, Dream, Dreeeam
You know the song? I rly like ... GTR 3 with DX11 graphic, real 5.1 sound, and all FIA GT Group, and Japan GT and some bonus cars like FXX Evo, Zonda R... Dreeeam, Dream, Dream, Dream, Dreeeam On: I repeat: If you want a constant FFB uncheck the option "Allow Game To Adjust Setting" and the game it' work fine but not like Race series with many FFB options. |
we wait for GTR3 (and rFactor 2) since even before Shift 1 announced
|
All the xpansion packs=GTR3 along with their horrid GFX etc.
I consider myself someone who likes "racing games" in general, preferably more realism the better, but enough already with the 5yr old GFX for PC exclusives. |
DO NOT CLICK ON THE IMAGE FROM KwameR'S POST, IT POP UPS PORN AND MAY CONTAIN A VIRUS! MY 9 YEAR DAUGHTER WAS STANDING RIGHT NEXT TO ME WHEN I CLICKED ON IT TO SEE THE SETTINGS AND A PORN POPUP CAME UP! THANKS TO WHOEVER DID THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
There's no porn pop ups for me, and it sounds like your PC is vulnerable if you're worried about viruses.....you should learn basic PC house keeping before acting hysterical.
imagevenue is one of the approved image hosting sites used by superiorpics.com, and this site doesn't allow explicit images. |
Actually KwameR there are porn popup's. I'd move it to imageshack or photobucket if I were you. BTW my comp isn't open to that sort of stuff ;)
They popup if you hit close on the random ad popup which overlays the image. |
