Default rFactor: Longest Tracks List

Based on a similar thread from RSC; I thought I'd update it with links, recent releases and former omissions. I tended to "believe" the lap length in the AIW over what the track maker says the length is (there were some pretty big discrepancies in some cases, as noted). Tracks in RED are one-way rally tracks. Tracks in GREEN are new additions.

"90K" Track - 77.9 km/48.41 mi (1)

Targa Florio - 71.8 km/44.64 mi

Cannonball Run USA 2.00- 65.17 km/40.50 mi (2)

Timmelsjoch - 47.58 km/29.56 mi (3)

Mt Arrowsmith 1.10 - 47.44 km/29.48 mi

African Raid - 41.20 km/25.60 mi (4)

34 km Joyride - 34.15 km/21.22 mi

Tandil 1.00 - 32.36 km/20.11 mi

Top Speed Area 30.0 km/18.64 mi

Race 2 the Sky 1.0 - 27.64 km/17.18 mi

GT Tour Pyrharanta - 25.87 km/16.07 mi

Nordschleife 2.22a (24H course) - 25.36 km/15.75 mi (5)

Col De Turini 1.0 - 24.92 km/15.49 mi

Hondsrugring 2.0 - 23.99 km/14.91 mi

Transfagarasan - 23.45 km/14.57 mi

Kirald Sata 1.00

70 Nordschleife - 22.81 km/14.17 mi

Mount Herman - 21.74 km/13.51 mi

Nsuka 0.90 - 21.62 km/13.43 mi

Battlefield of Masters 1.20 - 21.32 km/13.25 mi

GPL Legion 1.00 - 21.12 km/13.13 mi

Ehra Lessien - 20.85 km/12.95 mi

Passo Del Stelvio - 20.62 km/12.82 mi

Pikes Peak 19.99 km - 12.42 mi (6)

Corsica 1.0 - 19.62 km/12.19 mi

Semi-Permanente de Olavarria - 18.82 km/11.69 mi

F1 TOTAL Circuit the Challenge 1.0 - 17.86 km 11.10 mi

Costa Pobre 1.00 17.83 km - 11.08 mi

Machwerk 2.0 - 17.71 km/11.01 mi

Mont Ventoux Hillclimb 0.8 - 16.47 km/10.23 mi (7)

Schottenring - 16.22 km/9.97 mi

Project B - 15.98 km - 9.93 mi

Semi-Permanente de 25 de Mayo 1.00 14.95 km - 9.29 mi

Race to the City 0.9 - 14.95 km/9.29 mi

Rallye Alicante 1.00 - 14 km/8.7 mi

My Backyard - 14.35 km/8.92 mi

Spa 1967 - 13.98 km/8.69 mi

Brno65 - 13.92 km/8.65 mi

Le Mans 1967 - 13.4 km/ 8.3 mi
Le Mans 1970 - 13.47 km/8.37 mi
Le Mans 1972-1986 - 13.70 km/8.51 km
Le Mans 2004 - 13.97 km/8.68 mi (8)

Coast 1.00 - 13.92 km/8.65 mi

NordSchleife All Road "Travel" layout - 13.82 km/8.59 mi

Zarate-Campana 1.00 - 13.66 km/8.49 mi

Whitty - 13.34 km/8.29 mi

Autobahnfahrt 1.20 - 13.03 km/8.10 mi

Pista di Nardo - 12.87 km/8.00 miles

Rally China - 11.96 km/7.43 mi

Dundrod - 11.94 km/7.42 mi

One Way International - Raceway - 11.80 km/7.33 mi

Vale - 11.62 km/7.22 mi

Dragon Road/Rally - 11.60 km/7.21 mi (9)

Solitude 64 - 11.37 km/7.06

San Miguel de Monte - 11.12 km/6.91 km

Joux Plane - 11.1 km/6.9 mi (10)

Bolivar 1.00 11.03 km - 6.86 mi

Alto de Velefique 1.00 - 11 km/6.83 mi (11)

(1): AIW says 78km: I'm not sure if the "78 km track in 3 graphic version (sic)" is the same track, or not-I believe it is.

(2): The track maker counts various dirt tracks and watercourses to arrive at his "130 km" estimate, but the actual tarmac route (from the gas station to the dock) is only about 30 mi/50 km, and the loop route (which hasn't been coded in the AIW yet) is no more than 40 miles.

(3): Also comes in versions of lengths 37/30/22/21/19/14 km-but many people (me included) can't get the 47km one to work.

(4): This does have a return road, of sorts: at the end of the stage there's this little narrow ribbon of blurred tarmac in the sky which goes back towards the start area. I guess you could run on that and make this a circuit, if you wanted to, but in practical terms it's still essentially a rally stage.

(5): Other layouts come in lengths of 24.3/20.7 km, and numerous other versions of course.

(6): GDB says "12.606 m./24.193 km", which has been incorrectly converted for at least one of those values: AIW has 32k+ meters. Download page says 19.99 km, which is what Wikipedia says as well. Track map indicates a return road (a la Passo Del Stelvio), but it doesn't actually exist in game apparently.

(7): Comes in two versions, the base layout, and the historic one. The GDB says 10.05 for the former, and 21.6 for the latter, but both AIWs have identical distances (16.466 km)

(8): GDB says "8.451 m./13.600 km", but this track is known for giving lap times longer than they should be.

(9): GDB file insists it's "19.135 M - 15.325 km", but even he meant "9.135 miles" the AIW says it's 2 miles shorter. Lap times appear to support the shorter distance.

(10): AIW says 32+ km, but it's obvious when running the track that it can't be that long.

(11): AIW indicates 24. 8 km, and the road ends even tho the track map shows it going on for another several km. Went with the GDB value.

I would have sworn that Le Mans 1970 was updated recently, but I can't find the link (here or RFC).

Complete thru tracks of 11+ km (so far). Additional examples welcome.

I was about to post that you were probably experiencing RFC's recent downtime, but I clicked on the link (which of course leads here, not RFC) and the track isn't here anymore. I know the author considered it to be a beta-perhaps this is a sign that an update is in the offing. I'll break the link but leave the name up in case he does do so.

Oh yeah old BRNO! I loved this in GPL, unfortunately I don't like physics of GPL all that much so was wandering if I can play it in rF.

edit Noooo it doesn't work. Just when I select it to race, rF crashes. Anybody tried it and got tips what to do?

Charade 1965 might not be as long---not sure---maybe 7 miles but it's complicated enough to be exciting

Solitude is another but don't know if it's been legally converted.

Schottenring was also converted (as well as the abridged Isle of Man!), but those tracks were in such awful shape (textures should never be converted as is, because they degrade severely when converting from GPL) that I'm not about to list them (even assuming I could find the DL links again).

I figured out what was my problem with Brno. For some inexplainable reason the track doesn't like xUI mod! When I switched to default UI, everything is perfect. So funny to drive in streets I visited several times

I did demote it, because the actual track length of the route he actually put on there is only about 30 miles. When he completes the loop (giving us an actual circuit) it will be c. 40 miles. Targa will end up 2nd on the list tho when it comes out.

Kirald Sata released on rf central, should be 23kilometres of nice rally stage.
Btw I have found links to solitude, schotten and even IoM, all of them look pretty nice (solitude looks great actually) but I'm afraid they are unauthorized so I won't post them now

Yeah I already put that rally track in there. As for IoM & Schottenring, the ones I found really do look pretty horrid in the texture department. I doubt that Jim Pearson will allow conversions of his full-length layout of IoM when he finally releases it, which I respect.

Edit: I found a forum entirely devoted to rFactor tracks, but fear a significant percentage of them are illegal in one way or another. They do have a ton of stuff, but I don't want to run afoul of the rules here, so I won't link to it.

It's the one out of GPL, which I'd assume is the same one that was in N2003.

The creator was working on a full length IoM for GPL, but it's very quite these days. No doubt it'll be ported when it's done, no comment on if that'll be with permissions or not.

EDIT: Tell a lie, there's been an update since I last visited!

Transfagarasan Road Downhill & Hillclimb is 23.6km long incredible hillclimb located in Carpathian mountains, Romania. If I remember correctly, it's part of the mountain pass that was selected as most fun road by Top Gear . http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XH6PCEZG

True maybe it is not late work but he is still a round.
Actually with lack of comments and hits it is a wonder why he even bothers. lol lol

So...... would not surprise me he visits here and see some posts above which
disregard his wishes entirely.

I don't see why people antagonise the situation it is exactly the thing
puts him 1 step foward and 3 back.

To understand Jim's philosophy of IOM, Dundrod imo you must drive it fast in GPL or you don't appreciate the mapping, too many tracks are converted by people that never drive the original in anger.

read from ........
Quote:
OK now to the thorny issue of conversions.

There seem to be recurrent questions about converting my GPL tracks to other Sims, so here is another attempt to clarify my current attitude.
http://jrpearson.homestead.com/LatestNews.html

As Jim says if you think GPL is too hard to drive you have no right converting one of his circuits as you don't understand it.

Dundrod and IOM rips pale to Jim's bump mapping.
rFactor - GTL . etc rather then that jolt in GPL the wheels sink, same with Targa to lesser degree.

Btw. May not be clear reading above but Nascar IOM was never supposed to be released. Jim said in other threads he only gave permission for a online league to use it as it was, not for public consumption.

Worse still not just any modder ripped it, was people he trusted that leaked it.

Maybe this is off topic but so are his rips.

Any chance of someone running a Real Road Race series using some of these long tracks?
Pleeeeezz?
It's a shame about the 11km cut off point, otherwise you could add Aus leMans (9.89km) by legendsatlunch
I've noticed though that Dundrod_1950'sHIRES (11.9km) is missing from your shopping list, another awesome flat-out circuit
Thanks for the list Mr DiFool, a LOT of these I didn't know about & have now added to my favourites!

Somehow Dundrod escaped my notice-rectified.

I had to put in a cutoff at some point, otherwise this just becomes a list of ALL tracks.

I agree, seems people ooh and aah about each new long track that comes out, then, after that brief 5 second exercise is over, go back to their little 2-3 mile circuits. I'm still waiting for someone to run a Targa Florio enduro...

There was a long track mini-series run over at RD when Longford was first released & there was a brief natter about doing it again when Targa Florio was to be released.
Longford & '60's Bathurst were the shortest on the list.
My personal preference is for long high-speed closed road type circuits & if I was able to, I'd have a long'un up on a server once a week for folks to drop in & play aswell (AI are SO boring!).
I know of 3 long Aussie tracks that should be getting a release next year, two in the 14km region & another of about 33km's (20+miles).
Fingers crossed & I'll send you a PM when 2 of them are up for testing.
Bungonia (84km/52mile) is still some way off, yet slowly progressing.
It's had a complete restart with all new height data since that alpha test & I'm currently adding side-roads before starting the terrain properly.
By the way, I think today is the last day that the old downloads page (with Dundrod) will be available at RD as they're changing servers....
