First, open the folder where you installed DiRT3.
"Databese" folder.
Found in "database_restrictions.xml" rename or delete (move).

With the changes to be saved, the saved data is changed to an unlocked state. (Xml return it back to its previous state)
Saved data is the My Documents \ My Games \ DiRT 3 \ savegame \ folder.

Did you delete the database_restrictions.xml then start the game and let the game save, then put the database_restrictions.xml back?

The models are not in the game yet. all cars on that list will crash the game.

@Mati did it unlock it all tracks and horns as well?

It worked for me,all cars, liveries and tracks are unlocked, this procedure unlocks all cars and tracks in the game;Except for the cars in the list that crashes the game and the tracks in the same list stays on the loading screen because they are NOT there yet! They will be added in a future DLC!

The database folder is in the game install folder not the savegame folder...nice to see a local on here!....well sort of local

You are right, if you don't put the database_restrictions.xml back the ai will use the dlc cars but the dlc cars are not in the cars folder that is why the game crashes when you try and select one. so how is the ai using the cars if they aren't in DiRT 3\cars\models

2. start game, make the game save (before you exit look in the garage to see all cars are unlocked)
3. replace database_restrictions.xml
4. test drive all cars

But after this I will still have my saved game ? I dont want to start it from beginning

Done all of the above works fine
Just a matter of not driving any of the DLC cars or events.

But more fun doing Rally Cross with a full set of Group B era cars

Just like the gold old days of late 80,s Rally Cross now only if we had the real tracks.

Something CM did have in Dirt 1 did they not have at least three real world RX track think two from UK & one from France ?

Maybe they could add these as DLC.

BTW save game is also fine.

Backed mine up first not about to lose 150 races, but all was ok.

Just backup your save if your worried about it.

See if this database_restrictions.xml will unlock all the stuff.
make sure you backup your original before replacing it.
if it doesn't work upload your database_restrictions so i can compare it to the disc version.

It works for me, I have all cars and tracks But maybe Im wrong, but that file added some new rallies to carrier ? Because I has 2 whole seasons done, now in both I have 2 or more extra rallies to do

Very True Stratos & new track will only crash the game.

These & all cars in the list in first post are as far as I know are Future DLC.

Even if you see AI driving those cars you can not yet.

Not sure if they are just locked or we need too download files from CM to add full use of these cars & tracks.

The Stratos really is there. You can see the AI driving that cars that supposedly aren´t there. Just I wish I know how to make them drivable though, and have access to the new stages too.

Like thewarmer said any thing that is DLC other then the VIP cars will crash the game.

I'm able to get everything if I sign into my offline live profile but i'm not able to save .I cannot get past the checking content screen if I log on to my LIVE ACCOUNT .I would like to be able to save with the content .

Ho not again I had realy hoped they had got the 205 & 405 T16 sounds right this time around.

Seem to remember the 205 t16 sounded like V6 last time it was in the game.

Mind you they did the same for the Lancia 0.37 in the past which is bad.

Both types of cars are owned by member of the Slowly sideways Group Both a 205 T16 & a rally raid 405 T16. & also a Delta S4 & a Lancia 0.37.


CM used this group to collect there samples for D3 so unless there were issues with using these cars there should be know problems in getting good sounds.


Now I will go & try the 405 T16 in game I hope its not so bad as I fear.

Ok driven it now bit wild after driving the current gen cars.
But sounds are ok for the 405 T16.

Or at least its a inline 4 & not a V6.

So now I have hope for the DLC when it comes that the 205 T16 will sound right how ever I still Fear the Lancia Delta S4 will be wrong with its Turbo & SuperCharger sounds.

But still a very good game.

Even though it looks like all content is on DVD or installed its locked in some way.

I'm confused.

Those cars are available as a free carpack for PC from Live Marketplace.

You don't need any "file" to unlock or drive them. Just download and drive. I've had those cars since the game came out.
