It's been available for GTR2 since Jan09. In the GTR2 downloads.
Nobody has bothered for R07/Evo/ROn. |

If you saw the race this weekend on cable, you know the track is now one of the best road courses in the world. It's also in a beautiful setting. And from the pc-sim point of view, the landscape and buildings around the track would make it an awesome sim track.
It's got a number of places to pass and a bunch of unique turns. The track was resurrected by a developer awhile back who built houses around the place for racing enthusiasts. He also widened and rebuilt the pavement. It certainly needed the widening and removing the buried tires, a really brilliant move. Those tires were half-out of the ground and served as over-run barriers, something every driver feared hitting. If you missed seeing the race, you need to watch out for the next one. The track makes for excellent racing. |

I raced on the track IRL[1970's] and always found it fun.
Last year I did participate in a few "test races" utilizing all of the new track versions. Yes it was for Race 07, I haven't a clue if or when it will be released. |

I had been asked if a conversion of the GTR2 track I released could be done, I granted permission but never heard another word. If anyone wants to do the conversion contact me.

I hate to revive an old thread; but there are some good posts here.
My Question: Is there anyone willing to make a conversion of the "Virginia International Raceway" for GTR-Evo/Race07 series? On the RD site I found a couple of versions of the track for rFactor; I think they did a league race there as recent as the Fall of 2011. I just saw the announcement yesterday there will be an American Le Mans Series race at the VIR track in September of 2012. The 4.1 mile course looks like it would be a blast to drive. here's the announcement from the ALMS group and short description of the track. Even with the hyperbole of the press release, that track looks to have some tricky turns and braking points. I really hope to go in Spetember to the race. http://www.americanlemans.com/primar...cat=news|16465 Thanks Derek |

Having VIR available for rFactor and GTR2 (can't recall if Goresh did them both), I too miss this track in GTR Evo. Hopefully, somebody will accept the challenge and do it.
Quote:
With proper scene lighting (the VLM guys got it spot on on al their tracks), I can imagine a VIR track for Race07 's gMotor2 being equally awesome. |

Here's a link to Car and Driver Magazines website:
http://www.caranddriver.com/features...p-2011-feature In the latest issue, they compare numerous cars at VIR in what they call "Lightning Laps". Most interesting to me, is that they use the "Grand West Course" which stretches the lap to 4.1 miles. I've not seen this layout made for GPL/Nascar2003/GTL/GTR/GTR2/GTREvo. With plenty of on-board footage, a talented track creator would have abundant material from which to work (Hint)! |

Thanks, kunc. There does seem to be a fair amount of vids and articles about the tracks structure and course layout.
The VIR website even had something called a planimetric layout of the whole circuit listing turn radii and length of turns. If real life wasn't kicking my butt right now I'd try to teach myself track conversion. I'll keep my fingers crossed for a public release as the September race day gets closer. (btw; that area is a beautiful part of Virginia if folks are thinking of visiting my fine state.) Regards, Derek |

There is a new version of Virginia in the pipeline for GTR2 so maybe that will be released for GTRevo as well.
