I have yet to try it myself but I've heard a lot of Flight Sim enthusiasts being very excited about it.
Sure, it doesn't have ILS CAT III approaches like FSX does (after some serious modding) but it's just a realistic, good running flight sim that offers quick and challenging 'missions' for you to try. |

I'll try it eventually, but what I've read so far makes me think it'll be a waste of time and I'll quickly uninstall it.

And lots of activities before you run out of things to do. After that you can decide whether or not to buy any of the additional downloads. I hear their next release is an Alaska pack.

Revisiting the sort-of-a-flight-sim... I've tried this for a few weeks, and it has its pluses and minuses.
Plus: Decent flight model, good graphics, free (at first), a couple decent pay add-ons. Minus: A couple really bad pay add-ons *, future packs will likely "nickel-and-dime you to death."* Add-ons for a Mustang and Zero don't have cockpits and are meant to be flown external-view only.

Those aircraft without cockpits are supposed to be a test to see how many users of Microsoft Flight prefer that kind of thing. Of course, if stuff like that ends up being popular, then you can kiss goodbye to any kind of "hardcore simulation" future for MS Flight.

Lockheed Martin 'PREPAR3D' is an ongoing development of FSX, fully licensed by Microsoft and aided by several of the team who turned out FSX, this is looking really good.
FSX without the bugs and LM are already working on v.2. |

Can't say I'm surprised. It'd be cool if it was a well done flight sim with microtransactions if it was done to the same level as iracing. It seems like the problem with Flight was that they didn't seem to be making a realistic enough sim and the detail wasn't there, things like cockpits not working and stuff.
I guess the DCS series is the best thing about at the moment, those things are insane. |

Not a surprise. Microsoft didn't play to their strengths and core supporters. They ended up not pleasing sim or arcade fans.

Pity, it had a lot of potential. And the latest DLC aircraft was actually pretty good. The servers will stay running for those who already have it, but it looks most likely to slowly fizzle out over the next few months. It's not impossible that they'll resurrect it at some unspecified time, but I wouldn't bet money on it.
