Default WRC 3 announced

Black Bean has announced WRC 3 as the official game of the 2012 FIA World Rally Championship.

This is going to be the third entry in the WRC racing series and is the sequel to last year’s WRC 2. Black Bean described the new entry as a “radical departure” for the franchise.

The game’s being made using a brand new game engine created in-house by developers Milestone and promises advanced lightning, crowd and particle effects.

It will feature more than 50 official WRC teams and all the tracks from the 2012 calendar, with gameplay being streamlined “to allow new players instant gameplay satisfaction, while still allowing experienced rally gamers to explore the game’s full range of features.”

The game is in development for PS3, Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation Vita and will be releasing in October 2012.

Shots look good... technically. I hope they don't go overboard with new effects, whatever they come up with technically. At least the DOF blur looks very over-done and unrealistic, and can be toned down a bit. I mean, when your foreground is already this far away, where your camera would already focus to infinity, you back ground should not be blurred at all.

Also, in previous games, some of the colors look very plastic-ish or even fluorescent at times. This isn't a technical issue at all. The colors also look a bit artificial in these screenshots. I think they need to hire an art director to seriously look at their artistic graphics.

One thing I like about RBR is the colors are really very natural. Nothing dramatic or advanced, but it just looked natural so you could focus on the driving.

Otherwise I'm looking forward to this game!

At least the red-ish brown surface isn't supposed to be Tarmac

Yeah but... you can't photoshop a new lighting or foliage system (and least not that easily)

Tracks and Cars (hopefully interiors too) will look better then WRC2. Hopefully track length isn't a problem.
