I just picked up FSX Golds edition for $28 today
an absolute steal in Australian video game pricing...Looking forward to working through the tutorials until I can take off and land a 747 at Sydney airport Soon enough I'll get the FTX AU Blue pack + Wollongong Airport. It will just take time for my wallet to recover after getting both FSX Gold and Elder Scrolls: Oblivion today, haha.

Lots of beautiful F4 from (and from community) of F4 Phantoms - they look especially good in the (German) 1956 livery, looks somehow the best in that way, though I am not a German lover. |

Can 3 or 4 people sync up via the net and fly a Jumbo as Pilot, Co-Pilot, or flight Engineer?

That would be the Lockheed C5 'Galaxy' ........
![]() Josh, a crowd by the name of Simshed did a freeware Herc for FS9 but I'm not sure if it made it over to FSX and I can't recall any RAAF markings for it. The only suitable 'RAAF Herc' is the Captain Sim payware offering, with good number of RAAF and RNZAF markings available.

I just picked up an old Saitek Joystick for $12 dollars
![]() Saitek X8-33, throttle lever and Hat switch. It doesn't have Rudder movement on the stick itself (like most modern ones do) but it does have a sort of rotating dial just below the stick which can be used for rudder. The thing I like about it is it still uses a Gameport connection That brings back some memories ![]() I need to buy a Gameport-USB converter off Ebay before I can use it though as I don't have a soundcard on my PC. Luckily I'm still using XP so it will still work until I upgrade to 7. |

That's like 40% of from... perfection.
I look forward till more of their products are compatible with Prepar3d. If Prepar3d v2.0 is released with better stability and stuff like DX11 and more, and all the great add-ons (PMDG, OBRX) still work then it will be just the best thing ever. |

Hey Durge, I failed to notice those pics you posted of the C-5. I was a Crew Chief on the "FRED" when I was in the Air Force.
I also CC the C-141 Starlifter too. |

Most 'FSX' additions are compatible with P3D. All ORBX Australia scenery work for me, despite ORBX attempting to ban the use of their stuff unless you pay an extra fee. P3D is simply FSX with better coding, and more to the point, a company backing development of it. |

But if P3D 2.0 will get sweet things like DX11 and far superior coding while maintaining the capability to use FSX add-ons I'm switching in a heart beat. |

I played some of the flight sim's. It's cool. Planes were never really my thing though. But I poured hours into Microsoft Train Simulator. I was a real bummer when train sim 2 was canned.

No wonder it was canned. If you see what they did with Microsoft Flight you woulnd't want to play a new MTS game if they made it now.

I like good scenery, but quality aircraft is more important to me. The A2A and PMDG planes have stunning amounts of detail. I really like the old A2A planes, you actually have to do some work, no computers to help you.

Another Rise of Flight junkie here. It's a serious sim with the realism cranked, gotta know each plane's limitations and quirks, more so than in WWII or later aircraft. Getting to know the different tactics used with the planes is really interesting too. It's funny how relaxing it is to leave the base and take in the scenery on the trip to the combat zone before it gets serious lol.
Using the Logitech G940 flight system, it's phenomenal. The force feedback lets you feel what your plane is doing, I can literally tell what's wrong with my plane after being shot. Here's a pic of a Sopwith I shot from behind (bullet went through the back of the pilot, notice how he's hunched over): http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...hroughBack.jpg |

You can try this ... it may not be FSX ... but it is very good for the price ... and not much if you bundle up the extras on Steam ...
https://microsoftflight.com Rise of Flight is a Great WW1 sim ... fun but can get costly .... I personally like Microsoft Flight for a quick fix in the Civilian type planes and can fly ILS if I wish ... Downfall, limited planes and warbirds have no Virtual Cockpit. But flight sim is realistic and the world is nice for Hawaii and Alaska ... Exception would be the PT-17 trainer ... which is fun in its own right ... Same with the Carbon Cub ... I have a few "Show'n off" Videos posted on Youtube Last edited by DDawg; 30 November 12 at 01:46. |

I think it's amazing how CPU bound FSX is. With everything set to max, with AA/AF and add on scenery, my GTX 260 actually goes into power saving mode and is still only at 40% usage.
