I completely agree with you. That's why I'm going to try and make a "step by step making of..." of how I'm going to place my R5 into the game.

First of all, I'd like to know how many polies are required to have a nice looking car in the game. Also how many LODs and the amount of polies in them.

What programs do I need to use to put it in the game. I guess for modeling you can use any 3D program (I use Maya myself) and then export the mesh as an OBJ object, right?

I read that you need 2 meshes, the exterior and the interior, or what you see when you are looking through the pilot's eyes.

I guess that would be a great start as my R5 has 3 million polies right now (smooth mesh applied). The interior needs some face lifting as it has no dashboard at all. It's a rough piece of a beast.

I'd appreciate some info so I can get my hands on it ASAP.

Cheers!!!

@Chenuka : Try these fsb and fev i've duplicated off the dbrs9. Put these files in the Audio/Cars folder. Let me know if it works.

Any thought on which sound you want to have duplicated for the Enzo Ferrari (if the One-77 works)?

Downloading now, I would suggest you to upload the Aston and Enzo to winnerSD47's website (or let him upload it), you have done the most work and should deserve all the credit.

Right, does anyone want this?? It's just a skin made by me but it makes the Murcielago Gt1 look pretty much like the lp700 SV.

My first skin...I didn't even use photoshop so I know it won't be excellent. It's just that I haven't seen anyone else do this so I thought what the heck....

Hey guys,

I suppose this has to do with modding...

A two-fold question on AI.

1. How do you go about changing the names of the current AI drivers?
2. How do you assign a specific driver to a specific car or a specific skin, like you would when creating a championship for example?

does anyone know how to fix this bug???

the mirrors now actually work in the 458 italia, but th windmirror got axed...this would be a pretty much perfect addition to the game if someone fixed this. Did this bug happen to anyone?

@Chenuka : Your audio problem is not caused by a missing/broken fsb and fev (I've tried anything (created one myself with FMod designer and tried default one's by simply editing the csd file) but still no engine sound). I hope WinnerSD47 can solve your problem. I noticed that the One 77 looks nothing more than a Jaguar XKR (I didn't get the Aston in your screenshots, just a simple XKR).

Upgrade it to works...that's another problem. We need custom physics for it, then perhaps the engine audio will be better

@Chenuka : I've finally found it, I was right it was not a missing/broken fev and fsb file but a faulty csd file (the name has to be the same as the crd file), download my fix, place it in the Aston Martin One 77's vehicles folder and simply remove the jaguar_xkr.csd. The fix has to be the same for the enzo.

Edit : Renaming (with a program like Bulk rename utility) all the jaguar_xkr_kit04_ files to jaguar_xkr_kit03_ and jaguar_xkr_kit00_ and overwriting the originals seems to fix the car's model (now in the car lot you will see the aston martin) but the ride height is to high. Anyone know how to fix this?

More poly is better, for me 400k for whole part is enough. Most part of the car use 2 lod, loda and lodb, the rest is lodc

You need Zmodeler to convert OBJ to MEB.

There are 2 type of interior, interior for exterior view (less detail) and interior for cockpit view (more detail). In cockpit you dont need all part of exterior included, just hood, front bumper, front lights, mirrors, etc.

Yes, you can do that maximal 4 version of body style including interior for 1 car.

Thankyou, you are a genius!!! I have a feeling Height ride can be customized with physics with the respective file in the chassis folder....a more pressing issue however..How would I repace the cockpit with that of another car?? the db9 seems suitable??? and of course we need custom physics...I'll try to figure that out on my own...renaming the kit files as we speak...

Bregel - Thank you very much!!! I really appreciate your help!!! .
I'm going to focus in modeling all the versions of the car, from little junkyard wannabe to full roadEating-tireBurning raging beast.
I have the base model, some details left to be done still, maybe the version shown could be 3rd, as the second could have the back spoiler and some other stuff and I'm deffinetely going to work on a 4th version, a killing one.

1.- Thanks for the tips about polycount, I'll keep them in mind.
2.- Zmodeler is freeware isn't it
3.- About the UV layout, do I have to create one for the exterior and another one for the interior? Or just one for all....
4.- To put it in the game.... Do I need to find a car that fits my R5 specifications in the game and replace it?

Thanks again

Btw yeah Zmodeller's freeware but you won't be able to import or export the files in the meb. format which shift uses unless you pay for it... $50!!!!! AHHHH!!!!

@Chenuka : Db9's interior seems to be a good choice (I've changed the files already, fixed the right side/left side bug : player was on right side but steeringwheel was left side) but the interior mirrors don't match the exterior mirrors, any suggestions which car's mirrors I should use to fix this. Another bug I've encountered is that in the garage the steeringwheel is on the right side and the steering column is on the left side (and there seems to be little leftovers from the xkr at the rear bumper).

Shift 2 use different material for each part of the car for different purpose. Take a look at car folder and learn how they separate the UV layout with different material and texture.

No need to replace existing car, you can add your car stand alone.

V8 vantage's mirror's seem good.

hmmm the rear bumper issue is, true for some reason My textures for the rear light did not show up on the rear... Try opening Zmodeller and replace the XKR badges diffuse textures with the One 77 one's. Also certain meshes need to be edited so the brake lights show up on the car.....

Steering wheel-As for in the garage view....I don't know?? Looks like the mesh needs to be flipped over for that too??

@bregel- I know you do physics?? can you help me with my One-77 mod?

@bruce-when your done...send me your new copy for the modified files, i'll see what I can do with them? Have you replaced all the old kits with the new ones?? I've done that, thanks to your advice now the car shows up at all upgrade levels. Audio's great....but I don't know if changing the physics is going to screw that up??

Basically what I'm asking is HOW do you replace car cockpits?? How do you replace car physics??

@Chenuka : Patience is a virtue, my friend. I've replaced all the car cockpits with the one's from the db9 (it's to complicated to explain however because it involved lots of renaming and (cockpit and regular) vhf, cdv and yes I even replaced the file editing. It think i've sorted the steeringwheel bug in the exterior (when in race, garage or carlot), the best matching mirrors I found are the mirror's from the Mercedes Benz Mclaren Stirling Moss (the mirrors are similar in shape and are pointing upwards from the car's body to the cockpit). It's nearly finished (from my point of view, but there are a bit of problems I can't fix without new files, like the rear lightglow, I've corrected the position but you see that it's not 100% matching) and I found a solution for the right height (edit offset of the body in the vhf file). When I'm done I will give the files back to you (so you can find a way to edit the physics because I don't have a clue at all how to do this).

why thank you bruce ...

I really need to figure out how to do this myself.... I've tried replacing the enzo cockpit with the Fxx's it just made the new cockpit invisible....
continuing to experiment though, I really am not trying to pester anyone into making my mods for me and then taking the credit. Btw when I release this I will make sure people have NO misunderstandings on the great contribution you've made.

I know you've done a lot already, but if your willing to help me with my enzo Mod I'll happily give you a HUGE chunk of credit...let me know if you're interested I'll send you the files... I understand If you'll pass though, I can always get assistance from some of the other exellent people on Nogrip.

@Chenuka : It would seem so, because they didn't even linked to the original webpage where WinnerSD47 has uploaded it, they have reuploaded it on another hosting website and put their name as author of the mod.

How do I take a look at the car folder? Sorry about this but, as I've been reading around, seems that I need a program to "unpack" Shift II ????

What programs do I need in order to properly achieve my goal here? I mean something like this :

1.- 3D program for modeling the mesh (Maya, 3DS Max, Softimage, Lightwave, etc....)
2.- 2D program to create textures (Photoshop, Painter, Gimp, etc...) with the corresponding addons to convert common image formats (tiff, jpeg, tga....) into DDS file formats.
3.- Program to convert my 3D files into Shift II files (Zmodeler)
4.- etc, etc, etc...

How about the physics?, the in-game addons? such as tyres and rims? How can I make those change? if they can be changed of course....

Thanks again for the help and the feedback, it's really making me go straight ahead with this project.

Jeez man...I thought you had at LEAST unpacked the game.... Dammit if you don't know that then how'd you install any addon cars by yourself?? Well Go to the S2U UCP page and they'll tell you how to unpack it...once you do that then maybe we'll discuss you project....sigh...

On the positive side, I know I shoud've resisted but My enzo mod is up on the russian site...It's unfinished but since only bruce656 was willing to help me what did you guys expect hopefully downloading the present version will encourage you to help me improve it... Right so my E-mail address is in the description so either post your fixes here or alternatively send it to my e-mail..thank guys hope you have fun with it.

Thanks! Looking forward to it! But it's still not on the russian site yet... or maybe I'm looking at the wrong place? Anyways I hope the Enzo has the iconic stock rims... cause I saw the aftermarket rims you used in your screenshots doesn't match :/

Edit: Nvm so it's in another thread But I'll hope you can make the stock rims in future add-on cars!

@Chenuka : Wait, you did what? I did send you the enzo so you could look into the physics and minor bug that need sorted, it's by far not finished plus you will need M12 Warthogs permission plus the guy which replacement model you took to upload the enzo standalone with the f50 interior (I thought this was clear, because you asked me specifically to replace the interior with the fxx one and so I could presume that you knew that you have to ask permission for it).

Hmm...apparently M12 warthog was banned.....winnerSD47 gave me the model and he said it was fine. So I don't know if there's a problem with that?? I will take it down though if there's an issue ?? Basically it's a conversion from shift one so I don't need DVD check either.

Also about the physics, I tried replacing them with the physics for the maserati MC12 for some strange reason it didn't work, I thought If I released it someone would help me... the HUD is missing I've endlessly tried looking through the files to see what's wrong but it eludes me...

but since I respect the fact that you don't think the mod is ready I'm taking it off now.... I'm sorry If I did anything wrong.

Just tried the Enzo, and the rims is using the Reventon's rims but it becomes very white with random images on it...

Lol....no one said it was complete...please substitute rims with the best option....I would also recommend you to please not redistribute that file until we decide what to do with t...apparently I've accidently copied someone's work and I regret that... So i've taken the files down. Besides the mod is shitty and incomplete. Better yet you might as well remove it from your garage.

@Chenuka : Like most cars of WinnerSD47, it a model from turn10 so you will need his permission as well (now you'll see that it isn't simple to release mods and the reason why people like JDougNY won't release their mods). And as Jeroen vd Helm (nice to see someone populair and native dutch speaker on this forum, i'm only one of them and it isn't populair) stated above, it's not a shift 1 car but a forza 4 conversion so you will need a dvd-check to post it on this forum (what you did, you even started a new thread with a link to a file sharing site).

@Jeroen vd Helm : Kerel, je mod wordt gebruikt in de Onofficiele Community patch, dat is toch een hele erkenning voor jouw modvaardigheden. Groetjes uit België

Translation : Dude, your mod is being used in the Unofficial Community patch, that is a huge recognition for your mod skills.

Sigh....oops, looks like I have to take it down again.....the thread'll stay up but now theres a password on the file. No more downloads. I thought that if winner gave me his permission that I'd be able to post it up, apparently not then . Sorry for the inconvenience.... But the cockpit IS from shift 1 hence there's no Need for a dvd check there...besides MC12warthog said I could use it....I hope this little tussle hasn't made you think bad of me bruce656, it was just a misunderstanding. I'm sorry.....

@Chenuka : Nope I won't think bad of you, I was just worried that the mod would be taken down if you continued to advertise (sorry to use this word) this on Nogripracing (since there rules about ripped content). WinnerSD47 remains silent about his mods for a reason, I would suggest you would do the same.
