I race by time mostly: 20 minute races with time acceleration and x4 tire wear.

I am a strict offline racer (GTL) and usually race at least 20 laps, sometimes up to 50 laps, although I might save the race and resume it later.

Wow guys. I really need to extend my races out. My problem is that I just love so many cars and I end up doing tons of shorter races per night.

GTL, usually on say Gpoodwood or Mosport, I seem to go around 7-9 laps, or around 13. I'd go longer but don't often have time or stamina enough due to my health.

Between 10laps or 3 hours!
Big enduro fan so trying to get them as long as possible! @Todd. No worries man! I was the same, but just decide one day is for 1 make and enter a championship! Do it before returning to all the other makes, before you know it you'll be doing 45min races with a smile and using the same car to practice for the next track! . Enjoyment is what its all about! ! Enjoy it!!

Most Races I do I like to do about real racing distances, like DTM 1 hour, FIA GT 3 hours, Le Mans Series 6 hours, etc. The longest race I did in one piece were the 12 hours of Sebring with the Reborn Mod, just me and my AI driver and only NGT Cars. I had a margin of victory of about 1 Lap.
But whenever a race is longer than 3 hours I sometimes go to half distance. I just love real distances, especially long races. But for this I really need a good day. |

Until I crash, which normally isn't that long, unless I know the circuit well.

50 % races offline all the time and different mod/car each time. GTR2 as well as GTL. Like to have at least one pit stop for strategy.

Thanks guys. That brings me to another question.
Okay. we have those laps where we just go crazy out on the edge. Do these guys (pro drivers) consistently for three hours drive this edge of the edge. Or is it more like a conservative we have to last 3 hour thing and play chess. lol. |

i usually race 14, 16 laps, offline.
Other thing that i´ve been doing (in GTR2, because the save game possibility) is 24h races - mainly Le Mans - but only around 10% - 2h40m. On those endurance races i usually set fuel: normal; tires: x2; daylight acceleration: x10. The last race i did - with the Ferrari 333 SP - it resulted in 42, 43 laps if i´m not mistaken. |

Whenever i see LeMans 24h race, for instance, it seems to me that they´re always "in the zone" - specially the LMP´s. Just incredible! |

@Todd
When I do the long races I take turns! A few fast laps followed bu a few quick ones, When you racing long races tires can be an issue if you push too much! I've found that Alternating speed helps make them last, Unless the AI are on my tail!, then its push push push and push, I also try keep my laptimes coNsistant, and race like crazy when I have 5 laps fuel left,

In my earlier days of simracing, as in real life, I preferred endurance races; usually four hours. As an incipient geezer I find it difficult to maintain that concentration, so now it's typically one hour races; though in test mode I often lap for hours (Saturday afternoon at Machwerk is my relaxation).

I'm trying to work up to for-real endurance races (or at least longer than what I'm doing now), but first I want to work out pit requirements for the AI cars.

Does "in one piece" mean, you raced 12h without a pause (eat, drink, using the toilet, standing up and moving your bodyparts (all of them))? The longest race I did without pausing was a 2h-race at VLM Le Mans with a non-chicaned 8km straight, where you can at least rest a bit. After two hours, I was completely spent. Cheers, rainer

I've wondered about that myself...running a for-real endurance race (6-8 hrs minimum) in real time. My thought was/is to do it in 2-3 hour shifts and save/quit during pit stops.

To be realistic, you should run the race in three hour segments as this is the limit most modern endurance racing regs allow one driver in one stint. (Prevously four hour stints were allowed but with the increasing popularity of four hour "endurance" races this was changed so a driver change would still be necessary.)

How does the AI do when it's on your team? Good? Bad?

I used the Reborn Mod. That helped a lot. The AI was driving as quick as the others and pitted when running out of fuel, not too early. It was surprisingly no problem. I was checking the AI all the time. Not just one problem.

I usually run 50% length FIA races...so 90 minutes. I like to develop a strategy and pit a couple times. It seems to go by pretty fast if I can stay comfortable at my desk.
