Haven't tried the server yet, but this track is crying out for a full grid. I really hope that doesn't go to waste

Hi,

hmm - sorry me again - Porsche 911 is still not working for me...

Downloaded it again, deleted the Porsche folder and installed it again.

Quote:
from ReadMe:

Installation instructions:
- extract folder to Gamedata\Teams\GTC-65
My Porsche 911S folder is 61,7MB and it's V1.1 - any ideas (CarTools off)?

Here's the map from the rFactor version of the track - more like the "real" thing:

Anyone else having trouble joining tonight? Changing between multiplayer screens is taking an age, and when I do get to the track I get met with a black monitor screen and then get dumped back to the lobby.

It was definitely slow to connect. Thought it was my machine at first - many screens/menus seemed to pause after clicking something.

I got booted once without an warning or explanation - pretty sure I had an unsupported skin, but as I said, no message "Car not present".

So, I got in ok, eventually, but with some unexpected behaviours.

Well that could've gone a helluva sight better.

Spent the entire race either in the gravel or gnashing teeth as everyone else simply drove off into the sunset.

Maybe next time...

I saw your chat with something about the wheel?
After I hit you in beginning of the race I wasn't sure but you said go so I went.
Very sorry for the hit and even more if the hit caused your steering to get worse.

So.......it was ketchup racing as usual for me.
Being lower in the grid anyway that meant working hard to see someone at all. It took a loooong time but the 911 is such a fun car it didn't matter.
Due to some mishaps of others I found my opponents. The differences in cars was great and it took more than one's normal tricks to pass cars and then stay in front!
Somehow I managed to get into top 10 and then I saw Daz further up the road. First I met Filneuve's Ferrari.
Man that was fun! We had a serious battle with me getting desperate and trying twice outside T1, IN the turn! LOL.
The third time I went inside instead and could keep it in front. John W was not far away! Nice.
I can't remember the order atm but I messed up at T1 once and was behind them both, Fil in front, then John.
I then had caught John because he was fighting Fil with the same difficulty as I had done before but also because I started to understand the car and track better.
From lap 16 or so it became one of the finest fights I ever had in sim racing and I can easily say that the replay is well worth watching.
It soon became clear that John and I were fast in different corners and we both couldn't steal each other's ideas, just didn't work.
When one of us was in front and tried to challenge Fil again we couldn't find a way through and the other would catch up and fight hard again.
Then the positions swapped lap by lap! If you see the gaps in the stats you know how exciting it was. Well, you don't because you need to watch the replay.
At some point I had passed John and then had my best corners laying ahead so I had a little time to breath......nope.
Daz had spun and I took the wrong path and so did Fil.
We had to slow down a lot and of course, John passed, damn!
But Fil managed to be in front and I did another lap long fight with John until the finish. I tried HARD and of course outside in T1 didn't work as John just followed Fil on the inside and I had to follow again. One last try at the last hairpin , one of my better turns. I gained speed for the Esses but there simply was no room.
With a difference of 0.1 sec. we finished, but both behind superFil!

Thanks guys, that was awesome!!!

Grats to cap. I hope you guys had as much fun as I did.

Apologies for getting in the way Caspar, my rear suspension had been deranged/broken by a bit of manhandling by another racer. And apologies to John, worst place we could have made contact, hope the car wasn't too bad....

That 911 is a peach, still some time left in it too, must try harder wednesday....

There there, you were fast enough.
And no apologies needed. You never spin because you want to.
Isn't it a treat to find more and more secrets in the little Volkswagen?
Everything hasto click to stay with the big boys and sneak by them when we can.

I just watched the replay.
John was busy! I watched your fight with him and was great too and Fil was strong there too.

Wednesday is football but I might sneak in.

Pics;
1 T1 full speed, close racing
2 Last turns of the race, no room for me!
3 Finish. Fil didn't blink, John neither. Well, maybe once, haha!

but on start...............hmmm? that little alpine-engine.............I could not here among the screaming ferraris and other big ones. was wondering why alpine so slow? and.............was still in 4. gear on long straight. tz tz tz.
then later one liittle grasmove. and I was in the back on 17. but could fight back to 9 or something . then had some very fine laps with DAZ and malcom.
that was good fun, and very fair gentlemendriving. I LIKE THAT.

we surely see us.............when GTL event.

Very fun race!!! Not used to racing wheel to wheel with the big boys, which made me nervous, but tried to hang in there and not screw them up too bad. When I first saw John W coming behind me I thought I was seeing double as there was an 11 over his name and not the usual 1. I knew I was slow in the corners, but could some how pull away on the straights, and with Caspar and John fighting it out behind me, also helped. Excellent fun and very fair racing. I was very happy to have the chance to race with these guys and hope a couple of those times weren't considered too hard on my part, especially after we squeezed past Daz and John was trying to pass....

You did a fantastic job Fil.
It made me think back to Salzburgring67 but your podium there was easier than this battle win I think.
You were super clean and smart and used the Ferrari power perfectly!
I must say I have seldom raced so close as this race but that can only happen when the other two guys are supersmooth and not jerky or gung ho.

That was great fun Don't worry about the contact, Daz. Car felt fine afterwards and at least I found out where I was losing some time to you! I still couldn't get T1 or the hairpin right for most of the race, Caspar was gaining on me there as well.

Not at all, you were doing everything right I didn't quite have the run on you and I was glad of the tow to keep me ahead of Caspar

Hi guys,

this was a great cars/track combo.

This was also one of the best races I've ever had.
Great racing with Frex in his Porsche, Seniordan in his Shelby and Malcolm in his Mercedes - huge fun.

Started at P10, fall down to P12 and then I started my race to catch up.
When Lade visited the gravel in his Ferrari I passed him and was now on P3.

At the end Geoffers in his Ferrari was chasing me into a PB in lap 26.

Sadly my last lap wasn't very lucky, so I finished on P5.
But the result isn't as important as the fun is.

Thanks to all for this epic racing.

regards Matra-Rancho

Great race for me too, was surprised at how quick the SL was here - had a great start and battle with Goeffers early on. The huge fat arse on the Merc can be a bit troublesome exiting corners so I made a few too many mistakes here and there - but had lots of great battles along the way - brilliant fun. I could have raced there for another hour easily  Great stuff
