Maybe this would be the perfect moment to pace themselves if they don't want to look like fools.

That is in part because the ACO has limited the systems to the point where they are only allowed to be a small performance differentiator, no doubt because the privateer teams are already unhappy about the current performance gap between themselves and the manufacturer teams. Quite a few privateer teams are fighting back hard against the post 2014 regulations, where the maximum recovery capacity has been increased 16 fold (to 8MJ) - OAK Racing are pressuring the ACO by openly considering withdrawing from the P1 category.

If you look at the current regulations, they have dictated a maximum capacity of 500kJ (Toyota were complaining that they should be allowed to recover much more energy - they already have the technology to produce a 1MJ system quite easily); furthermore, the ACO has limited the use of the hybrid systems to fixed points around the La Sarthe circuit, so even if they have stored up energy under braking, the driver cannot use that energy if he is not in the permitted zones.
As it is, the current systems have effectively been designed as "push to pass" systems because that what they are being limited to - I suspect in part because the ACO has been mimicking what the FIA was doing in F1, where KERS is being used as a "push to pass" system.

Nah, we don't have any money back for military hardware, since we have to pay it for countries living over their (and our) pecuniary circumstances.

Bah, just ignore it.

Too bad the Toyotas went down early, they looked like they had the pace and reliability to give Audi something to worry about.

The GTAm finish was interesting and the first couple of cars is not very far from the top GTE. ACO should make sure that all amateur drivers are of that level or at least experienced in endurance racing.

IMO it was a strong and promising debut by Toyota. I hope they are gonig to stay with it so LMP1 will get it's excitement back.

You know these analogies?

Wehrmacht = invincible army and champion of efficiency (at least in '39-'41)

Audi arrived in full force for this year's LM, a real army and very efficient since they brought 4 cars to the end in the top 5

Panzer Tiger = best tank of WW2

since those R18 had big crashes but finished the race, while Toyota, well, one took off in Davidson crash (glad he's quite ok), the other after the slightest contact with the BatMobile got the race destroyed.

So, yes, it's supposed to be fun

Congrats to Audi, though of course it's not surprising. A shame about McNish's late-race mistake -- would've been nice to see another Kristensen/McNish/Capello podium. But kudos to Lotterer/Treluyer/Faessler for another terrific showing.

I'm sure Toyota will be back. This was a strong showing despite being such a rush job to get back to Le Mans one year ahead of schedule.

Davidson's crash was pretty scary -- I hope his back isn't a long-term problem. Puzzling though -- I can only assume that Perazzini misjudged how quickly the Toyota would pass him, and just cut in too quickly. Bad move.

Also a pity to see the Delta Wing taken out like that. I was hoping they'd make the full race.

BUT... overall a fine 24 hours.

The second WW is like a never ending disease.
About 70 year after date people still cannot stop comparing contemporary events with things from that period.
It happens everywhere, on (too) many subjects, in politics, on cultural and social subjects, in sports, you name it.
As if the are comparable, and as long as people cannot stop doing that, I fear we will see it going on for another 70 years.........................
I have two words for that: disgusting and ill.

The WWII is an important piece of history, let's leave it there.

It's good that Toyota showed good pace in the race, but a real shame they couldn't make the end. Potential to be a real battle next year.
Real shame the Delta wing ran into so much trouble aswell, it had issues and was dropping down the order before it was taken out. But being so different it would have been great if we had seen just what it could do.
Quite a good race though, especially in LMP2 and the GT classes. I just wished when the battles were actually happening on track the cameras picked them up more rather than just focusing on the LMP1 front runners.
So many silly arty shots and the commentators getting all excited over something we couldn't see.
"Hes' got him, He's got him, just there" as were seeing the reflection of some mechanics goggles

It was quite entertaining though

Nakajima - booo! Ruined the LMP1 duel!

I must say - despite the result - Audi were woeful this year! Well, some of the drivers at least. If Peugeot were racing I'd guess they would've got a 1-2-3!

Anyway - A good race - Lot's a uneventful stints in terms of action, but that was a true endurance race - just a shame the fight at the top stopped so early, kind of deflated the race.

Toyota might be unbeatable next year!!

Ah, come on! How do you want to overcome the crisis by studying dead lock useless subjects like "Contemporary History". Just skip the study path and work as taxi driver straight away.

Funny?

Anyways,
half of my family lives in Genoa, the rest is spread all over Germany. So I know there are some flying tempers at the moment. But the line between irony to racism can be thin sometimes.

I study but I work too (that's why at 25yrs I still have to finish).

Just I don't know where is racism in what I posted .

But anyway, Audi won, and Ferrari won his category, so, let's be happy of this.

Germany used Audi (Auto-Union back then) as a marketing tool for Nazi supremacy. So everybody that roots for Audi roots for Nazi Germany in essence? Lets not go and get all wishy washy over a picture.
