Congrats, Allan!

I notice that top split was multiclass, and 2nd split was HPD only. How did that feel? Back in time, when I was actively running the HPD, I was actually dreaming of having single class races.

Well I still had to pass some slow guy's but just not as soon as I expected! I prefer true multiclass but the guy in 2nd was never more than three secs behind me and most of the time it was 1 to 1.5 secs so I was pretty occupied most of the time.

For sure! Love the track to be honest.

Grown on me over many years from console games, when I ran it on iRacing for the first time I loved it straight away.

Finally got into the 41's;

http://members.iracing.com/membersit...2&custid=37971

and nearly matched it in Qualifying;

http://members.iracing.com/membersit...7&custid=37971

and an okay first race;

http://members.iracing.com/membersit...6&custid=37971

Quite happy as I have been struggling to get to grips with the nuances of this track.

Great track! Rhythm inspiring!!

Found myself a little bit off the pace of the top guys, but very comfortable, so this week for me will be about SR gain hopefully

A better second race ;

http://members.iracing.com/membersit...6&custid=37971

Good battle for the first 8 or 9 laps with Maximillian & Andre, then I got a bit of a break and was able to take it easy for 3rd (was never going to catch 2nd).

Sebring is night - ugg! My old eyes are not really up to it, however I did discover if you have all settings on low (to get FPS) you don't get your headlight "beam" at all - had a few crashes before I realised the headlights were not working properly.

However even with them on I'm struggling - remember never to partner me in an Endurance race

It makes me wonder if there are certain graphics settings that give more light or not?

Loving it to be honest! Can't wait for the race, which I plan on running a few hours after Le Mans' finished!! Should put me in the mood!

Went sub 2:00 in the Ford, put me top 22 in the practice WR's - happy with that after only half an hour of practice!

Don't know if I'm getting used to it or if some graphics settings needed a reboot to take effect but I'm much happier today at Sebring.

I just found myself in a Practice session with Allan, which was pretty cool.. I did a few laps, but have to leave to take Gran out for lunch!

Sebring really is a track that rewards being brave. I still get surprised at how much grip the ARX has. You can take T1 in 6th with a bit of a lift, and throw the car into the last corner at insane speeds.

I still have not done a race at Sebring yet, need to stop getting constant 1x's.

You were pretty quick, mate!

My optimum is low 47's but I haven't driven a 47 lap yet. I keep getting the entry to the back straight wrong and the final turn, if I ever string a full lap together I'll do a 47 no problem.

I have however been attempting this Season to always do race length stints every time I practice, not as fast on single laps but better average times, it "seems" to be helping my racing.

Anyway, was good trundling around with you earlier, hope to see you again sometime, especially as your a fellow Scot!

I guess admitting that it was my 1St lap in the 47's wouldn't be too bad then? I really doubt I can do them anywhere near consistently

But - This car is quickly becoming my favourite in iRacing, I love the way it handles, and the way it rewards being a bit braver

Well a lesson in never giving up!

Pushed to last of the HPD's on the second lap, thought I had a damaged car but actually it was okay. Pushed on from there and gained 4 places in the last 6 laps including two on the final lap!

Pity the SOF was so poor;

Good to see you're enjoying the HPD Alex - I jumped in it the other day to reacquaint myself with it as LMP fever hit with Le Mans, but the steering input and aero factor seems very lazy and foreign compared with the Ford/Solstice, and it would mess with my head, so I decided to stay away - unfortunate, but I don't wanna ruin it for my best cars!

Oh man, Last week at Sebring the early brake into T3 on Lap 1 caught me out...

I don't normally make stupid mistakes like that - but on this occasion I did!

I was ready to brake early, that wasn't the problem, it's because they all braked early and HARD. It was touch and go whether I'd make it or not, but I could tell straight away I didn't have enough if I stayed behind the Ford infront, so pulled out a little bit, left side wheels into the grass, Ford in front really didn't understand the situation or wasn't looking rearward (understandable), I got slowed to the normal speed, but we were side by side and we ended up hip and shouldering through the turn, he ended up spinning and caused problem for everyone behind - I got some steering damage but that's all, leader pulled away, blew his engine, I won, gained 170pts, 100 IR and 0.08SR

Who says mistakes don't pay? I apologized and he just gave me abuse, I felt bad during the race, but afterwards I thought "screw it", I've been hard done by many times before, and he definitely could have prevented contact too, bout time one went my way

-

Bit scared of Daytona, my setup is a bit sketchy in the infield, and I just can't get near my night lap from last season, which others are. Might give it a miss I think, dangerous track to start mid-pack at.

I joined the fixed race you just ran in a flurry as I had just had an annoying GT challenge race where I lost a few SR pts that I really wanted, and thought I might have a race with you! I clicked on the race and there was only 1:20 left, then I realised I hadn't driven the Ford with the fixed setup at Daytona! So it was mega dangerous, I quickly forfeited...
As I never forfeit, I suddenly remembered that might have implications!

Anyway, long story short - thankfully it didn't, but I spectated a bit to make sure I wasn't on the entry list, which I wasn't.
But point of the story - ran onboard with you Allan for a couple of laps in the middle and you were running very well!
Checked back after the race - (no IR loss or classification for me!) - but you were down the bottom - shame as you were 4th I think when I left! what happened?

Yes, blew a comfortable 4th, all my own fault. On lap 11 was catching 2 GT's, undercut 1 going into T1 but the other one ahead slid off and I stupidly followed him, basically had carried too much speed undercutting (but I did not need too), doh!

Going to try again at 9pm.

http://members.iracing.com/membersit...3&custid=37971

Derek Speare was in that one but for some reason when the Safety Car pulled in our Leader did not go, everyone had to back out the throttle and some guy's at the back gambling on a clean start rammed into the back of some of the HPD's. Derek was a victim of circumstances

................ and an even more desperate 2nd race, punted P2 in T1 because he braked earlier and hard than I was expecting - thank god we only count 8 weeks, I've got three drop ones already!

I've had a good look at the replay and whilst he did brake early I could have done better and maybe avoided it, one for the learning bank. I've apologised to the other driver and he was fine about it, admitting he had braked earlier than he meant to, it's all good.

Will post the results once the race finishes.

Oh dear;

http://members.iracing.com/membersit...8&custid=37971

Still I've got an 11pt, 36pt and 60pt scores to drop, so I am still in with a shout of Top 5 in Div 2.

Bring on Silverstone!

Made a bit of a 20min HPD comeback just then - 1:35.6 with the fixed after I was reacquainted.

hmmmm - omg, such a nice car and I remembered why I loved it! But when I jumped back into the Ford I had no idea for a few laps.

serious First World Problem.

Had an okay Qualifier;

http://members.iracing.com/membersit...6&custid=37971

Followed by a topsy turvy race, fell to 13th on lap 1 from 4th, my fault fell off at Maggots, got back to 5th then in trying to get 4th, hit a GT (racing incident, he agreed), dropped to 6th and could not quite catch 5th again, one more lap would have done it!

Loving Philip Island this week, the Fixed set is really nice.

Anyway was looking at the Division 2 situation and see I am currently 8th but there are 5 drivers with less than 8 weeks who are near enough to easily overtake me

So I look at Division 1 and low and behold with my score I'd be 6th in Division 1, go figure!

I need to get my iRating up

Then had a good Qualifier;

http://members.iracing.com/membersit...2&custid=37971

The race was something else;

http://members.iracing.com/membersit...3&custid=37971

Was third and made a schoolboy error passing the first GT, mainly because I had someone right up my chuff and knew indecisiveness would lose me a place, instead I lost 10!!

Got back to tenth then had another off, down to 12th but back to 11th finish. Despite my problems the racing was great fun. This car is beautiful here.

33 cars was the best turnout for a few weeks.

Shame I got tapped in the rear on the last corner otherwise it would have been a 0 incident race.

Got into the 9's at Road Atlanta Fixed. This weeks set is a bit strange as most corners it is fine by T2 & T7 has too much understeer and forces you to have to turn in much earlier than you think you should (well for me anyway);

Not a great first race as I got run off the course before crossing the Start/Finish line;

http://members.iracing.com/membersit...3&custid=37971

The only plus point was despite being dead last I still gained points & iRating and they guy who ran me off the course finished lower than me, no apology of course.

It was an avoidable racing incident, which happen but not to apologise in my book marks you down as a "prick".

Well it looks like I ended up 9th in Div 2 & 16th overall in Fixed, quite happy with that, my best result yet in the Proto/GT Series.

Would have been 6th in Div 1!
