Haven't played GTL for years. Have been trying to get RF2 working on my mid range system Intel Core2 Duo CPU E8500 3.16GHz system, 4 Gig with GTX460, Windows XP. Just couldn't get it to run properly with my Logitech Wingman Formula Force (the red one). FFB slow with little feel. Graphics look nice (set to medium to high) but frame rate is only marginal when racing (as compared to practicing). Even though it's in beta I gave up because it just was just too hard to get working right plus it didn't have that nice immersion feel.
Thought I'd pull out the GTL DVD. Not only did the FFB work faultlessly with excellent feel but I was also able to max all the graphic settings out. The racing against the AI was fantastic. The whole game with it's brilliant car modeling and sense of immersion stands as the best racing sim imo. The only thing missing is weather. I really want to like RF2 but will it be as good as GTL only time will tell. |

There is The Power & Glory mod for GTR2 which has full weather - V3 is getting towards the verge of being released (I hope
). P&G V2.1 is arguably very close to being as good as GTL - it's certainly more accurate - needs more cars, which will be released with V3

RF2 isn't finished yet, same as pCars and such.
Indeed time will tell what we get. No doubt they'll be good. For now there's not many that can run it at all. For now, GTL (>R2) will do fine, as we can finally run it to the max (can we? online nightraces? never seen them...) ...plus it is mod-able so there is always the content that you're liking. (I can't be bothered if a game doesn't have classic cars, or at least Minis). BTW weather indeed, but all there is in most is rain, more or less. Where's the snow, hail, icing, etcetera? As Donington should have rain, many tracks should have ice and snow. |
