Default Converting a sim racing game's mod to GTR2 Help please...

Hi,

Idk how to convert a mod over to GTR2. Can anyone help me please? I've been trying all day and it's so confusing, I think I'm going in the wrong direction....

Not sure that I could be of any help, but I do know that others will need to know more. What game are you trying to convert from? The mod name would help also. This would have to be with permission or you agree to personal use only. If you do have permission, always give credit. See Site Rules for restrictions on backward or non-allowed conversions. It'd be for personal use only. rFactor game to GTR2. Changing the txt files are rather simple.. I just don't know how to get the model car to work for the game now.. does it have to be .gmt? In-game doesn't show the mod/cars at all whether .gmt is in the file folder or not. What txt files should I edit and rename, etc? The problem feels like it's just around the corner but I've no idea... There could be something wrong with the extensions I'm putting.. ?_?

Well... it aint easy at all . . even with (some almost none but still some) tutorials you may find around (but you have to look very deep...) Try looking on something called:

"Tutorial rF-cars to gtr2 or GTL v00_1 by LkwFan" and "Base4MakingCars v00_003 by LkwFan" that will help... but even with that (small) help it is dfficult...

Try 1st doing a "GTL to GTR2" conversion.. that is easy... then "GTR Evo to GTR2" (and you will need then a full subroutine (that you may find around) to decript the several types of encripted files you will find around... more difficult will be then "Race 07 to GTR2"... possibly then you may try "Rfactor to GTR2".... about "Shif to GTR2" that becomes something even more difficult, truly another level way above... since more tools are needed to decript files and defrag them.... but if you manage this "progresssion" and I m stil on 3rd step of it.. ("Race 07 to Gtr2") then you will easy handle the job!

Good luck! and believe me .. you will need it... and a lot of courage and perseverance.. patience... and luck again in large ammounts... lol..

GMT files form RFACTOR have to be converted to GTR2... they have same extension but are not compatible... 3dsimed is the 1st program you have to get... also DDS Converter, GEDitor, Zmodeler will be needed if you enter shif to Gtr2 and also Test Drive United... conversions...

so far my trully big obstacle has been the "cas" files refining... and some issues with materials and textures... they wil sijmply drive you crazy... sooner or later.. lol..

Haha thanks mirrorman. Unfortunately it's just 1 mod in rfactor, not any other games (but you never know when..).

Everything is driving me crazy atm. But that's ok since it's my first convert... hopefully my brain will settle down soon. Do I need the dds converter, GEDitor & Zmodeler for rfactor mods?

The files from the mod are VEH & dds...

Geditor is needed for any conversion to Gtr2 ... some times all the time,. others only once or twice... that is needed to open GTR files and to be able to read them and see what they have inside... and to manipulate their content...

dds files ... if I m not shure but I think that may have to be converted with 3dsim or dds converter (that i aint shure) the VEH file is a text file (edit with notepad) and may only need some small adaptations... same for Engine.ini (GTR2 Eng files) gear.ini (GRB on GTR2) and HDV (Hdc)

I think that Mas files are far more complicated...

Hmm when I open the VEH file in 3dsimEd, I can see the entire car, in... well 3d of course haha. Full graphics & detail of the car.

check in "tools" - "Data Reports" - "Missing Textures and Objects" if you get this report:

"There are no missing Textures


There are no missing Objects"

That will be almost half way, work done... lol... but that only when you have all files trafered to GTR2.... files type... and extensions... I got that with my Veyron SS conversion, but.. making it run.. that s something else...
