Is your account email address up to date?

Folks, starting today we are restricting user accounts where the email address is proven to be out of date / no longer in use.

Why are we doing this?
It's now far too easy to get the server IP and/or domain name put on some spam database and have your emails refused by all and sundry. Having the server repeatedly trying to send new PM / post notifications to dead email addresses does nothing to help this.

How do you know my email address is dead?
If the site tries to send you an automated email and it doesn't get there, it bounces back to the sending address with an error message. We can see from this message if its a temporary error or if the email address no longer exists. Temporary errors such as "inbox full" will probably not get your account restricted, unless they go on and on.

What happens if my account is restricted?

You will still be able to login, but you will not be able to post messages or download/upload files.
You will see a warning message at the top of all pages saying your account needs verifying.
You can remove the restriction on your account by going to the UserCP and entering a new email address, which will then need to be verified.
