Been trying all night now trying to get a wet weather tyre to work and show as a treaded wet tyre on selection but it still shows as a slick tyre. I have followed some guides online and so far i have enabled to get the selection to work in the garage to be able to choose soft/hard wets right up to monsoon tyres. I played around with renaming the dds files and no such luck. I am sure its straight forward or might be missing something. I can see the treaded tyres on using GE editor in the GTR file. but is there anythnig else. Should the tyre selection compound be at 1 rather than 0? in the TYR file?
RMI has said on here there is actually a way you can actually select the pink or branded tyres as the dds files are in the TEX files but i am not sure how to go about it. Something about taking the dds files for the corresponding red or pink tyres and dropping in thr cars filder and renaming but didn't say to what. Hope somebody here can help

You have to know which number in the car genstring does what. Lets say the third number is the tire. It would then call out the corresponding .dds file based on which dds file is numbered. This will always show that tire chosen.
I believe the game engine chooses the wet tire based on the weather. You just have to insure the wet tire dds is in the the tex file or loose in the team folder and named correctly..... |

Tread00 = slick
Tread01 = inters Tread02 = wet Tread03 = monsoon The inter, wet and monsoon can use the same texture but each must be named separately. Meaning, 3 actual dds files but identical images each named as I have shown above. You also need a dds file named simply tread.dds, this can be a copy of the slick and must be the texture you actually appy to the model. On each wheel model you then need the animation sequence set to 0,1,2,3. I don't think I missed anything but if you get stuck further post back, I'm sure I can help you sort this. |

I have been looking at this mod and have GTR2's standard treads working. It wouldn't be so hard to use the treads from another car with what I've done sofar. I am also almost done creating the blacks, red and pinks as different styles, you can set via the genstring once I'm done. If your interested I could send you the files and you could use as a base for your edits. Let me know.

glad to see people still enjoying this! There is a member ready to release a 2004 pack very soon. IMHO this mod still has the best physics/feel of any mod ( gtr2,gtl,rF )
