Codemasters is closing down it's forums and switching to its new more broadly "social" Racenet. As I understand it the old forum will be eliminated entirely. The old content will not be saved or transferred. As a long time GRID fan and poster on Codies' GRID forum, I would like to know if NoGripRacing would be interested in starting a new GRID section (although it is an arcade game) and receiving the old content and posting it here as well as new traffic if Codemasters was amenable. I have just now raised the same question on the Codies forum.
Is the idea at all feasible, and what are the issues? I speak only for myself and represent no one but myself. At the Codies forum I am RubyRuby. Thanks. Frank |

we'd be happy to add a GRID forum, although having looked at the codemasters setup I will be honest, they have split it into many sections and if we were to add a GRID section it would be condensed a little into fewer sections
http://community.codemasters.com/forum/grid-946 technically, since they are running vbulletin the same as us, to copy the existing data from their site to ours is not hard, but whether they would be happy to give that data to anyone else, who can say.. |

Thanks, Veloce. This is just a thought so far, but I'll see if I can get a response from Codies.

I'm on my way home with no response from Codies yet. Will check in again at my next online session; in two or three days.

No response from Codemasters, and they're scheduled to zap the old forum tomorrow. No GRID forum legacy, apparently.
I do appreciate your quick response, Veloce. Frank P.S. How about if I start a thread to test interest in a new GRID/GRID2 forum section here, starting from zero? |

Codies new GRID forum is up and getting plenty of attention, and they have a GRID2 announcement publicized for tomorrow. Official announcement for the game? Seems likely, but all we know is that something over the GRID2 logo will be announced at 8.8.12.
That has stirred even more interest at the Codies forum, and there many GRID vets posting. Probably some interest would be sparked in a GRID2 forum here based on the "news." Personally, I think it would be great to have a GRID2 forum here and a separate section for GRID. Maybe somebody will pop up who has archived some of the old GRID discussions and tips. GRID is still being sold, and new players were occasionally dropping in to the old forum before it was nuked. So yeah man, if you're up for it. Sounds good to me. Frank |
