The easiest way is to open the .car file from a version of the car where
the driver correctly locates the shifter and copy the line....

ShiftStickPosition=

... to your that one's .car file.

At a quick glance it looks like a GTR2 Murcielago, so the correct information
would be...

ShiftStickPosition=(0.02, 0.26, -0.76)

No, it's not hard coded. That information in that line tells 'the hand' where
to perform the gear change animation.
If the location is wrong it can be found using 3DSimEd, reading the X,Y,Z,
co-ordinates directly from the head of the gear shifter.

Try this...

ShiftStickPosition=(0.12, 0.26, -0.76)

Cheers.

dunno if youve seen these cars im talking bout..there from chris moses over nagp for their league..he does great work,but just some things ive noticed that arnt right..that car was the INKL sponsored lambo #8 and the #7 team car to it is totally diff,it has a diff steering wheel and shifter.but it functions like its suppose to,the other one is the RSR team jaguars..the shifter is curved over to the driver on the left but his hand doesnt hit it either..

Yep, well, if he's changed the cars you should get in touch with him about it.
I don't have these versions, so can't open them in 3DSimEd, sorry.
Trial and error on your part will work, assuming the animation is just off to
either the left or right. The first of those three digits listed for Shift Stick
Position is the left/right value. A value of 0.00 is right in the middle of the
car. the first decimal (0.X00) is ten centimetres, the second decimal (0.0X0)
is one centimetre. A positive value moves left, a negative value moves right,
of centre.
