Default Tracks for the 1937 mod?

Hi All,

Takes me a while to catch up I know but I've just installed 1937GP mod and would love to be able to race some period correct tracks, particularly Brooklands, Tripoli and Pau.

Have they and any others been released?
Cheers,
Nev

There's Sempio(Milano) '37
Most of the tracks that are suitable are '50's and '60's tracks like Monaco '67, Nordschleife '70, Eifelrennen, Spa '67.

Yes Brooklands and Tripoli and also AVUS'37 were released, look rFactor Central for download.

Tripoli is horrible though to be honest, I find it undrivable with the graphic details.
I'd also recommend Avus '67.

Hi Nev----you must have Vale---it's very good. Look for some of the tracks from Legendsatlunch----he captures the feeling.

I think you mean Avus 1967, because the 37 one was 3 times bigger than the 1967 layout and doesn't exists for rFactor as of now.

Hi Again,

Anyone else having a problem with the 1907 version of Brooklands?
After a few laps of all the variations my computer locks up and has to be rebooted. {I've downloaded again and will reinstall to see whether that helps}.

How do you stop these beasts from wandering all over the track? - I just can't seem to get a setup that works.

And should I be able to see the front wheels on each of the cars?
Cheers,
Nev

Nev, I found for controlling the cars I really had to dial the FFB to my liking to get a better feel of what the cars were doing. I am using the real feel included in the Mod, but using the hot keys to make adjustments on the fly. I run the ffb pretty high. The other game adjustment the static cam, with a FOV adjustment edit in the ini file. The static cam for the Alfa is 30/30 which might work just fine with your set up. I run tripplescreen with the FOV at 25/25.
For car adjustement i changed the differential lock to 60/60.
Driving adjustments mainly were for braking which seems to be the hardest part for me. It's best to find a balance between braking, and downshifting to get the cars to slow without spinning.

Thanks guys,

My Hyperstimulator doesn't support FFB so all I can tweak are the usual car settings - I found getting gear ratios right helpful but it's the wandering in a straight line giving me the biggest problem.

I'll try Bill's set ups and see how I go.
Still haven't solved the Brooklands 1907 issues.
Cheers,
Nev

Hi Nev.

I found the Voiturette class quite drivable with the default settings.
With the more powerful class, the back end lets go easier.
I suspect that may be what you are having problems with.
If you have no FFB it would tend to feel like wandering steering.
I found they do behave if you are careful with your right foot.

Sorry havent tryed Brooklands

Ok Nev I've installed the Brooklands track from the link given earlier in the thread.

http://www.drivingitalia.net/forum/i...&showfile=3992

It shows up in the sim as Brooklands 1937. The readme calls it V1.5 by BigBen.
I used the largest of the tracks, The Outer.
I found the Voiturette class was ok. Tryed up to 20 cars with no problems.
With the bigger cars not so good. They never seem to get round the first tight corner onto the main track with out a horrendous crash. At that point I had lockups on 2 occations. Didn't have to reboot, used Ctrl Alt Del & shut it down from the task manager.
Once they sorted themselves out from the crash they seemed to go ok from there on.
I found if you reduce the number of cars down to 10 they are better behaved.
Also tryed the 1928 Mercedes SSK mod on the same track. Only 10 cars total in the mod so no problems there.

Hi Rocky,

What OS are you using?
When I use ctr/alt/del with my Win 7 Home it takes me back to desk top, where I can still hear the sound from the stalled game and the only option is to shut down - it doesn't bring up task manager.
I'll try a smaller field of cars and see whether that helps.

Thanks everyone for the links to the tracks, I have the ones I need now, but as you can see having trouble running the one I really want to race on.
Cheers,
Nev

A couple of quick tips for windows 7.
Install rfactor outside of program files for example mine is C:\Rfactor.
Download the 4 GB patch and patch the Rfactor executable with the patch. This will allow RF to access more memory.
Add the + full proc to target line in your short cut to launch Rfactor to allow more cores to work in the game. Im posting this with my phone so let me know if you need more detail.

For better performing AI try running the AI auto calibrate mode so they can learn the track better. Also note ai only perform as well as the tracks written ai files.

Hi Nev

Also Win7 Home.

When I Ctrl+Alt+Del it brings up a blue screen with options, the bottom one being task manager.

BTW, that 1950'sDundrod is hosted on my own Mediafire page which I hosted there after RD lost it's download section & I originally posted the link to the long track listing here on NG.
As for suitable tracks, there's also legendsatlunch's Gnoo Blas which is VERY good with these cars much like his Vale which is also mentioned both above & within Slobbeman's link...

Thank you & all the best!

The server could be down for maintenance or from malfunction, or it could have shut down from excessive traffic. Wait a day and try again.

Just another thought regarding the 1937 mod.
If you try the cars on a track you are familiar with, you may find it easier to get the handling under control.

Hi Rocky,

Thanks, been doing that and finally realized that you really only need top and third gear. Running at Goodwood every time I braked and selected 2nd it spat me off the track, kept thinking it must have been brake bias or a suspension problem, forgetting these things have enough torque to spin the wheels in top.

Getting there,
Cheers,
Nev

When you brake for a corner Nev---try to keep the gas on----it's the engine braking that causes your problem. These cars have a lot of torque which gives good acceleration but when you let the gas all the wayoff the rear wheels tend to lockup on you. This is compounded by braking heavily to make the corner.

At least give the throttle a healthy blip as you shift down.

Rocky289----well--it's a 1983 5-liter Mustang with around 325 hp and 3.73 gears and 5 speed manual---it was the Yellow Rocket. She was very quick.

That's a while ago----no longer have it

Still too tight [LOL] , mine is the original narrow body might be different in what was the wide body [now standard].

Bill,
Many thanks for the tip - now getting the hang of it and can lap Goodwood in the Bug without spinning.

Thanks everyone for all your help,

Do it with the side of your foot

What wheel do you use ? The G27 pedals have 3 placement for each.

Throttle: Left
Brake: Right
Clutch: Left

(All in middle position stock)

Hi Vette4Life,

My Hyperstimulator cockpit has it's own steering and pedal box system, but only has brake and clutch.
They recently developed a three pedal, pedal box but unfortunately my model [the original standard version] isn't wide enough to accept the new unit. Their current standard simulator is both wider and longer than the original version.

It is too narrow to use the side of my foot.
Cheers,
Nev

Are these tracks available for rfactor?

Parco Valentino
Parco Sempio
Montjuich

Bremgarten must exist, I see tons of youtube but no links.

Also found numerous links for Indianapolis '60 and Monaco '67 but all lead to megaupload, which Uncle Sam in his infinite wisdom "threw the baby out with the bathwater". Found a Culmone Monaco '67 at drivingitalia but get a "you are not authorized..." when trying to d/l (though I've d/l'd numerous other tracks there).

They are all scratch GPL if anything is permission should be at rFC

Montjuich is GPL permission
http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Montjuich

Parco Valentino is GPL only afaik
http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=2384#

W.I.P. not sure if this is what you after though....

If you see links but nothing on official sites it is a GPL rip mate.

Bremgarten exist for GPL, and was converted for GTL, and rFactor. Sorry, I havn't link for download this version.

But, if you can wait one or two monthes, we are close to release an all brand new version of this track, with an up-to-date 3D, for rFactor and Sinbim games.
