Default Driving Force GT

Hello,

I just upgraded my trusty old Logitech Wingman Force to a DFGT, as I wanted the 900 degrees rotation.

However, the wheel feels a bit crap in GT Legends. My main problem is the huge FFB deadzone in the middle of the wheel, which kills a lot of the realism and makes handling the car delicately kinda difficult. Also, the pedals don't seem to calibrate properly - reaching 'full' before they run out of travel, making them annoyingly sensitive.

Is there a cure for either of these problems? There doesn't seem to be any way to calibrate this wheel yourself through windows any more.

Thanks for any help,

Neil

- Are you using the Profiler, and calibrating the pedals when you power the wheel?

- You might try using the Feels Real FFB mod...ignore that it's listed as being for both the G25 and GTR2, since the settings do fine for the DFGT and in GTL (I use the mod with my DFGT in both GTL and GTR2).

Thanks for the response!

Yes, I'm using the latest logitech profiler (downloaded this morning!) and it's calibrating each time it powers up (which is actually kinda annoying...)

Thanks for the heads up on the FFB mod, I'll give it a go!

Does any know of any alternative calibration utilities you can use? The auto-calibrate thing is annoying and seems to be quite inaccurate!

It's supposed to do that each time...basically, it's comparing your settings against the wheel's defaults and altering as needed. And, if you didn't already know, press both the gas and brake pedals fully each time the wheel is powered...that's part of the power-up calibrations needed for your settings to be applied.

Wow.. pressing the pedals down during power-up I had no idea about.

FWIW - I did my wheel/pedal setup in both GTL and GTR2 once; after that, simply doing the power-up calibrations is all that's needed. Note tho that if you make any changes to your settings, either in-game or in the Profiler, a total power-up calibration is mandatory.

Setting overall force to 107% has been rumored to reduce/eliminate the center deadzone.

Thanks for the responses! Very helpful. I didn't know about pressing the pedals during power up, I'll try that and see if it gives me full pedal travel.

I'll have a go at setting the FFB to 107% too. I presume that's in global settings? I hope that does work as the deadzone is killing the wheel for me at the moment... My old Wingman didn't do this!

Thanks for the help!

Awesome!

The 107% trick worked a treat. As soon as I got back on the circuit, the wheel started trembling as I sat in the garage. FFB deadzone all but gone. Plenty of feel back and the wheel is just as I hoped it would be. Marvellous! Still need to trim back the FFB in the game as the wheel is rather too strong for my desk!

Pressing the pedals during power up didn't seem to improve calibration unfortunately. I may open the pedals and check the potentiometers are correctly aligned. I've been in there once already as the pedals arrived not working. So much for buying 'refurbished'!

Many, many thanks for your help!

If you really want to tweak your FFB, download this - it allows access to more FFB settings than most people need, and there's a simple FFB guide that explains what each setting does individually somewhere here in the downloads as well. I already have a copy, and it may just be easier if I mailed it to you (it's just a .txt doc, and I can't find it in the downloads right now)...PM me an email address and I'll get it on the way, if you want.

Give this a try, might work out for you.

On the Logitech Profiler on the bottom left you'll see:

Steering wheel
Accelerator
Brake
Clutch

Click on Accelerator and Brake, open Properties and turn down the sensitivity, default is 50%. I have mine set at 0 for my G25 because 50% was way too sensitive. Adjust it to what you feel is good to you.

Hello everyone!

Well, I've been fooling about with settings and getting nearer to getting the wheel how I'd like it to feel. I opened up the pedals and checked the potentiometers were properly meshed (they were). I even had another go with pressing the pressing the pedals during power-up and, hey presto, it worked! I have full pedal readings!

Unfortunately my DVD drive just expired so I can't go and try it out... boo!

Many thanks for everyone's help, you've saved me from getting very frustrated with my new wheel!
