My post of the day:
Apologies as no doubt this has been asked 1 000 000 times by newbies (somewhere)... Ive installed motec ip 2 AGAIN. However, for such an amazing piece of software, sadly there seems no simplistic guide that i can find. it's such a complex tool that i think having simple instructions would be great - unless i've missed them? So i have some questions and would be eternally grateful MORE help:thumbsup: 1. Should i install motec in an rfactor subfolder or not? if so, which folder? 2. does it require a data acquisition plug in? if so, where can this be found? 3. Where is the plr file in which i have to change the values? motec? rfactor? 4. How do I begin data logging/acquisition? is there a button i press with ctrl? some commands somewhere which i have missed? 5. how do i access my logged data? 6. Is there a way to obtain telemetry from more succesful drivers e.g through videos/onboard? 7. alternatively, is there a simple guide somewhere which tells me how to install and use motec ip2 pro WITH RFACTOR? Apologies. Sometimes genius is simplicity.lol thanks for any help AGAIN |

Hopefully somebody will correct me if I am wrong but I use to have a lot of trouble trying to get MoTeC ip2 pro working. I think you might need the Motec ip2 standard edition for Rfactor. I know that works because I use to use it. You will need the RfactorDAQ plugin and motec fix. which I am pretty sure you can find here in the downloads. There is an entry you need to add I think to the Rfactor Config file, but I am unsure of what it is. Hopefully somebody else will be able to elaborate.

I have i2Pro working but I must admit to a lot of head scratching in doing so.
When you've installed i2Pro you should have a motec dll file in your plugins folder. You should also have an ini file in your main rf folder. I had to edit the ini file to read as follows... Log dir = "C:\MoTeC\Logged Data\" As a check to see if you have it installed correctly, when you leave the garage hit Ctrl/m and you should hear a little ping signalling that data is being logged. When you hit esc there should be another ping which means that data is now being written to the log. Hope this helps, but yes we certainly need someone to write a definitive guide to this. |

I recently went through the Motec installation, I don't remember of specific problems.
I downloaded and installed the latest version of Motec from here I installed in C:\Motec, but I guess it could go in a different place. Then I downloaded & installed the Motec plugin (as far as I remember it doesn't come with i2Pro). You have all info about it here Following the instructions on this last page I don't think that I had any issue. You can then edit the MotecPlugin.ini file to configure it the exact way you want. One point though: if you want to put the Motec log files in a given folder , make sure that when you specify the folder name it ends with \ (backslash) (just like in the example provided by 57goldtop ) Hope this helps
