Default Need CTD Help pls

I just installed the GTL-GTR2 mod and everything was fine until I tried to start the GTC-65 Championship. The game crashed and now when I try to restart it crashes without loading. Suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Yup. Always provide a trace log file when posting for CTD help or assistance mate.

That way some member will have an advantage in sorting out what the cause of the CTD might be...

Generally the last dozen lines or so of the file will suffice in most cases. No need to post the contents of the entire file as this could be up to a thousand lines or more...

I must disagree, the entire trace as an attachment is always preferred.

If one edits their GTR2 shortcuts Target Line to read as follows:

C:\GTR2\GTR2.exe -trace=1000

This will create a trace log file in the following directory, GTR2/USERDATA/LOG. This file can be opened using notepad and if one scrolls to the bottom it will say exactly what caused the CTD. Even if one doesn't understand or can't see the cause themselves, posting this trace log will assist others trying to help.

So is that the bottom lines in the trace m8? If so no clue there as that line is very commonplace in trace files. In most cases the clue would be there. It looks like you should upload the entire trace file as an attachment then if you could. Maybe something will show itself there...

Also make sure that your OFFICIAL_GTC65_Trophy.GDB has these lines in it:

// Game/Season Info: SIMULATION
Game Name = Legends GTC 65 Trophy
Game Filter = AND: 65-GTC
Description = Saison de Legends GTC 1965

SpecialClasses
{
65-GTC = GTC 1965
}

I was making a simple explanation of what a trace file is, not how to actually read the file. Did you miss the posting the file part? Its only the next sentence from the one you quoted.

The game keeps a "pre-load" of the last car and track used, and when starting, if it can't find one or the other, it will CTD. This info is found in your .PLR file...

here is a copy of that area in the PLR file in my game:

[ TRACK ]
Track File="GAMEDATA\LOCATIONS\MidOhio_VLM_ALMS\NoChicane_ALMS \VLM_MidOhio_ALMS.TRK"
Track Description="VLM_MidOhio_ALMS"
AI Database File="GAMEDATA\LOCATIONS\MidOhio_VLM_ALMS\NoChicane_ALMS \VLM_MidOhio_ALMS.AIW"
[ DRIVER ]
Profile Vehicle File=""
Vehicle File="GAMEDATA\TEAMS\24H\Gillet Vertigo Teams\Belgian Racing\04100_G2_VERTIGO.CAR"
Reserved Vehicle File="GAMEDATA\TEAMS\24H\Gillet Vertigo Teams\Belgian Racing\04100_G2_VERTIGO.CAR"
Driver Name="Scott Sharp"

make sure to keep all the quotes " ", just delete what's between them underlined and bold in my example.

Then restart the game.

Phil

Do you have the "correct" tracks required for the championship?

Have a look at the championship GDB in the CHAMPIONSHIP folder in GameData.

The above errors suggest you have the file structure wrong. I suggest looking at your GTR2 folder and be sure there isn't a 2nd GameData folder. GTL-GTR2 should have the following path:

GTR2\GameData\Teams\GTL-GTR2

I found duplicate car sets in GTC-65 and GTC-76 and deleted those, still no luck. Thanks very much for your time with my problem.

So you get a CTD everytime you try to fire up the GTC-65 Championship and there is np with any other game mode?

If that is the case, then the focus should be on the GTC-65 Championship.GDB file and other files that are dependent on that mode then. Would'nt you think?

Frank (sunalp2), has suggested maybe a missing track...never heard a response for that m8. Do you have the required tracks for that championship mode that the .GDB is calling for?

No, the game doesn't even load. It crashes as it's loading, so I don't even get to the start screen. I edited the .plr file per Phil H's suggestion, so it won't look for that file when I start it, but still nothing.

That trace file was a mess. Not only were you missing the cars noted above by Goresh, but you were missing key GTR2 files like the headphysics file. So, you best bet is to do a complete wipe. Install GTR2 fresh, patch, then TEST the default cars. ONLY after you are sure the original sim is working correctly should you attempt to add any modded cars.
Good luck

I agree with Dave. I'd also like to suggest to extract all mods to a temp location and move them into GTR2 manually. This method guarantees you never end up with duplicate folders and makes you aware of what files your actual adding.

And I agree with you too Goresh !
Most problems start with a bad install.

I'm using your method since the beginning and never had a single problem. ( GTR2 or GTR Evo Race07 )
Extracting directly in the game asks much attention as the .rar files haven't always the same structure. Easy to make a mistake if you don't even look at the structure in the .rar file before extracting.
