Heck, I don't even know what box my gpl disc is buried in. Any chance they will add the extended flying wing to the nose of the Lola T260?

A one off addition at Laguna Seca.

Not true. It was also used at Riverside in 1971 and Atlanta in 1972 and possibly other places. See this page : http://www.racingsportscars.com/type...Lola/T260.html

Got the Can Am mod installed a couple, three days ago, running at 60fps. Love it to death...

Gonna forgo the F1 cars ('66, '67, '69 mods) for quite a while, looks like. These Can Am cars are works of art.

Can you believe Grand Prix Legends is 15 years young this year?

I installed GPL into my new W7 machine a week or so ago. I had forgotten just how good the original GPL was in its day, and how much the enthusiasts who have updated the game over the years have added to it with new graphics, mods, tracks etc.

Have just had a blast with this CanAm mod - superb!!

Ah, didn't remember the Riverside race. However, the Road Atlanta car (and a couple of other pics) is not Stewart's car from '71, as the GPL Mod recreates, but a privateer from '72.

Yes indeed it is an awesome mod !!
I've almost forgotten about GTL since installing the Can-Ams !!

To me they feel like a cross between the SC67 and Thundercar mods.

I've recently gone windows 7 and GPL has never worked so well - all the previous audio glitches I had (and put up with) automagically disappeared.
I'll admit it, I was a huge bagger of win 7 but now with GPL running so well, I love it and with this mod I love GPL even more !!

What are the chances of this great, long awaited mod to get converted to GTL? I can't wait to race em, just don't have GPL. Thank you.

That's cool. I think that wing was/is ugly as hell.

Hi rainmaker62,

Go here to get a demo of GPL ------> GPL2004Demo
This will allow you to drive GPL and install the mods. You will just lack most of the Papyrus default tracks that originally comes with GPL. Not sure if any of the original cars are missing though.

This page has an abundance of links concerning GPL.

Dont forget to checkout the section headed :
"To Do's if You're New to GPL" on the same page.

Also you just have to go to the defacto home of GPL'ers here -----> SRMZ

Good luck and I hope you get onboard with GPL and the Can-Am 71 mod !!

We loves it we does

Terry

Thanks very much for posting the Demo link looseether.

It's well worth having GPL setting up shop on my HDD, even if just for the '71 Can-Am mod alone...

Do not worry m8. I'm sure once GPL gets it's hooks into me it won't let go. I will be trying all the other goodies GPL has to offer.

It was the '71 Can-Am mod that jumped out in front of me first and now there is no way out or around it...

If you have any other controllers in use (joystick, gamepad, etc.) unplug them. GPL is 14 years old and easily confused by multiple controllers.

No can do. I am using the demo and the installer asks for the original disk.

One of the old tricks for controller assignments was to make sure the axis needed for the brake was not accidentally assigned to something else. Then, clear that axis. A-lot of the older programs would not over-write one assignment with another. If the brake axis had throttle or clutch assigned, then you might not be able to choose another option for that axis UNTIL you clear that assignment.

And on another note. It took me several YEARS just to get ranked near the bottom of all the GPL rankings. I just tried the demo and realized it will be several MORE years before I finish a lap even in a dog slow trainer. Whomever posted those links...I don't know weather to thank or scold... lol!!!

Ok, added the GPLshift and got the brake pedal. Now with the CanAm71 mod installed, it put all the can am cars in original GPL car name folders (inside the can am folder) and I can't see them in the game. ???

You need to start GPL using the GEM+ utility.

You Serious !
You will not find any of the 11 circuits at GPL track DataBase.
Wonder why ......

GPL2004 demo is unoffical and was meant to revive interest in GPL online.

You won't find a thread at SMRZ tells you how to use or edit the demo.

Besides you miss out on some of the best updated circuits in GPL , Monaco, Kyalami, Rouen, Zandvoort and others.

With GPL CD or image of your GPL CD you can use GPLPS Installer to do a "Proper" install which adds many updates and tools.

There is long *.pdf on specific install methods should be adhered to you want everything to work between classes and physics.

also read *.pdf on rasterisers and pribluda

If you are going to talk about Demos and down loading official content
to get a working GPL for mods.................why not just be done with it !

Download GPL Iso and use GPLinstaller !
(..........that is sarcasm) lopl

Sorry for being a wet blanket but I fail to see why GPL should be the only sim on this site tossed around like Warez.

Definitely don't want to slight GPL and all those that have worked to make it better. Started with GTR EVo and worked back to GTR2 and GTL. I love GTL and have a good database of tracks and cars, but I've always wanted the Can-Ams. I was fortunate enough to attend Road America back in '72 and have been enamored ever since. When I saw GPL now has a Can-Am mod, I just had to try it. I'm sure I will get the legit GPL and start the mod madness there as well, just haven't yet. Thanks to all you modders for making PC racing so much better.
