How do you guys do your fast lap times? I'd like to be able to just pick a car and pick a track and see how fast of lap times I can get. Tunning is the only place I can tell to do it. But cars like a stock Gumpert Apollo can't be tunned and therefore i can't take it to the tunning track.
Also, how do you store the lap times? I see that it will save the fastest lap times for individual races on the autolog, but I don't a list of fastest times on a track and with what car. Hope this makes sense, THX! |

An option is to use the World Record site. You have to register at the site and download the WRClient. Note that an unmodded installation of Shift 2 is required. The client will recognize if any mods are installed. It's all spelled out in the rules.
http://www.wrecord.com/ As I prefered to play Shift with a few mods from this site, my solution was to have my modded Shift installed on my WinXP partition, and the unmodded install on my WinVista partition (dual boot). Hope this helps. |

On a separate note, I still can't find where to test 1/4 mile. Help anyone?

Cheapshades, you can leave your stock install and location, just copy the install and paste it to another folder (or even the same but change name to Shift 2 UCP MOD or whatever) as the game doesn't care about reg entries. Create a shortcut from the copied install (after sticking the mods on right
) on your desktop or wherever and you are good to go.

Thanks, Kaerar
My experience with using WRClient is based on Shift, not Shift2. With Shift, the reason I installed to my second OS, is that when the game is only copied into a new folder in the same OS, the savegame files are directed to the same location. I imagine that the same is true with Shift2. Meaning that if one wanted to segregate the savegame files, it would require that those files be backed up/restored each time one switched from the unmodded to the modded install (if one is in fact using the WRClient to record lap at http://wrecord.com/ . I could have created a batch file to automate the backup/restore process, but since I use both OSs (WinXP & Vista), it's no problem for me to simply reboot the PC into the approprite OS. Otherwise, it probably doesn't matter to most users which savegame files are most current, and your solution is probably the easiest for them.

Correct savegames are in the same place, however it's not hard to make 2 folders and switch them over
