Default Gravel trap woes!

I am 2 hrs into a 3 hr race and get punted off into the gravel by an over eager tailender... and spend the next one and a half minutes getting back to the tarmac (even then having to autopilot to point in the right direction)
I could never understand why my revs keep dropping when I'm trying to claw my way out and the AI skips through like it's not there... (at sim level) I suppose it's to do with the auto clutch... I only have two pedals... Anyway is there a way for me to adjust how 'bogged down' I get in the track files, I don't want an easy no effect way out, just 'possible' to get out under my own steam within the same calender year.

Offers of help (without buying a 3 pedal controller) would be appreciated

The AI run simplified physics. When ISI designed the AI there wasn't enough processing power to run 36 plus AI with player level physics. One of the simplifications is they are not affected by gravel traps.

Look for the specialfx.tec file in your locations folder. Edit the resistance of gravel and bumpy gravel to suit your needs.

David you're a sanity saver... Thanks mate, I lowered the resistance from 50000 to 30000 and though I can get out there is still some pain... about 15 seconds to get out of the same place that took a min and a half before.
Top man!

You are welcome. This change will cause problems if you race on-line.

Yeah, I understand that... I have a special folder on my desktop with the original file back-up of everything I ever change... but the only on-line I have done recently is with 07 against my nephew! and that's standard... thanks again

Well I don't feel like a cheat now I looked at the settings on P&G v3... they are set to 20000 dry but 50000 wet as standard, so are easier to escape than mine on GTR2...

That was a change done early on in PnG's life

I'm just the opposite. Every gravel trap I've witnessed (and been in), once you're in you're basically done until someone external come and pulls you out, whether it was under a full course caution or they left you there to wait until the end of the session). I adjusted my gravel trap numbers accordingly, and it's an extra, extra incentive not to throw away your race by going into them....

When captured somewhere out of the track, press "E" key it brings you back on track (can be called cheating, can sometimes save from bugs : use it wisely)
