Are you experiencing the infamous "DirectX [insert early version number here] not installed" error after installing the game on your Windows 10 machine?
Note that the error window looks like this:
"Sorry. [insert game name here] requires at least directx version 8.1."
For starters, it appears that DirectPlay (A "deprecated" API that was formerly packaged into DirectX which served as a server communication library for game development, among other uses.) has been just disabled on later versions of Windows and even on Mac OS X.
Here's a brief tutorial video on how to reinstate it on Windows Vista and later. (The title indicates that it -only- works on win 7/8.1/10 though.):
(It worked MIRACLES on my install of the aforementioned game!)
......this Wikipedia entry about DirectPlay:
(A good one despite being dependent on them primary reference sources.)
.....and this Steam Community thread on the subject. (It depicts the same error on a different game and includes a full list of the affected versions of Windows in both 32- and 64-bit builds.)
I hope that this bundle of joy makes it easier to get such a great racing game up and running in your particular version of Windows.
