But what about bug checking , nothing ?

I get very worried I make GTR2 and GTL essentials and I get not a single bug report

I can't believe that it is all right.

Would you mind doing something for me please.

Read the GTR2 Essentials Tutorial.pdf and tell me if the process is clear.

I used the 2 packs from a partition with no GTR2 and wrote ( if you call it that ) the Tutorial beside it all in window mode as I did every single step.

Too long winded, unclear descriptions, fonts spacing anything !@!!

and most all be highly critical, like water off a ducks back to me mate.

I want to do a new tutorial or someone redo so it can be updated easily sort of.......

I have not even got down to first OvGME packages yet I hoped someone had.

Like zip packages would be handy in one way hey ? smaller and less chance of corruption for starters.

But I got to test it properly by the OvGME manual and it's just repacking Essentials to test sounds daunting

Then make a new Tutorial or even choice of JSGME or OvGME

I like to think is enough people use JSGME some will want to give OvGME a run I really need the feedback , pros and cons.

P.S. As I said OvGME works with Essentials perfect but using extracted MODS I am pretty certain we miss out on features.

http://www.nogripracing.com/forum/sh...d.php?t=367416

Just from the screenshot in Post #1 you can see...
That none of the Essentials mods have version numbers ! all say: 0.0.0.0 lool

See there is a reason already would be great to package properly for in GTL as well.

People would be able to update their own mods by version # and link it FTP in OvGME
Then for updates you would compare version numbers just as you do in rFactor2 ModManger

I hope you use 64Bit

Drop that into a Essentials same way you do JSGME and follow instructions in thread.

I pretty excited about what OvGME could do, just take a lot of work re-making first Essentials after that be great

6 months old software, we will show those Ship and Sub sims something ! lol

Can't explain that one

No need to quit JSGME
It will run in background and uses no memory to speak of

With OVGME you have all your sims and installs in one window so no need to even swap JSGME's

If you ever testing setup make a Windowed Mode Mod OR just copy your GTR one over. ( GTR2/GTL config.ini are compatible GTR2 does have extra lines ie: Time-Trial / Driving School but they are ignored by GTL )

Otherwise they identical.

That way you don't have to alt-tab , start JSGME or anything else.

After all tests 1 click puts you back to fullscreen and OBJ and TEX levels set correctly, no having to go and edit back =3 =3 every single time......oh my

Packing and Testing GTL Essentials for OvGME

Quote:
The Mod-Archive is, so to say, only a zipped version of a valid Directory-Mod. However, because OvGME needs to correctly align Mod file tree with destination root (root path) file tree and deduct where to seek for data, a valid Mod-Archive must follow some simple rules. If these rules are not respected, the zip file will not be seen as Mod-Archive.

The zip file MUST be compressed in ZIP format.
For now, OvGME only supports compressed file in standard ZIP format.

The zip file MUST contain the properly named Directory-Mod folder at its root.
The zip archive root must contain the Directory-Mod root folder (and not directly the Mod files). Also, this folder must have the same name as the archive itself but without the .zip extension. For example, if you have a mod archive named "My Super Mod.zip", it must contain the folder named "My Super Mod" where Mod files are stored. This is because OvGME can't guess which folder into the zip archive must be considered as the root folder and because Mod-Archives can include some other files than only the modified destination root (root path) files, it seek for a folder named exactly according the zip file name itself. This is a convention.

The zip file can optionally contain a description file.
OvGME automatically checks if a properly named .txt file exists at root of the zip file. If this .txt file is named "description.txt", "readme.txt" or has the same exact name as the Mod root folder or zip file itself (but with .txt extension instead of .zip extension), it will take it as the Mod description. This file must be a standard ASCII .txt file, OvGME does not currently support rich format.

The zip file can optionally contain a version file.
OvGME automatically checks if a properly named "version.txt" file exists at root of the zip file. If this file exists, it will be considered as the version string for this Mod. This file must be a standard ASCII .txt file and the version string should follow the format as described in the Mod versioning chapter.

Luckily OvGME does this for you, click on Make Mod-Archive point to existing MOD.

OvGME I like for the one copy all-in-one multi sim, multi mod features
Saves heaps of space and time updating multi copies of same mods.

JSGME I never have uninstall errors
I like the 2 windows
You can tell the order of everything installed
You can left click on greyed out mods to see overwrites
JSGME can't uninstall a overwritten mod

OvGME is weird this way .....
At least using Mod-Directory method you can even uninstall your Standalone GTL with mods still activated that overwrote it.....
So you can activate it again and overwrite the installed Mods ?
Makes no sense to me

Maybe I am still doing something wrong.
I stick with it for now, the thought of going back to big archives in every sim folder and having to update them all ( like you do with manual folders ) is depressing

Yes mate but after you do that copy the new player into your saved PLAYER mods

Then unlock will always work when you activate it

Remember any update you do like config. player settings, video settings etc etc you want to re-save the player file to any "player" mods

It is like using a new video driver you rerun config.exe for full-screen and window then overwrite the config.MODS

Thank you

Well after testing OvGME has serious drawbacks for what I want it to do.

I tried making proper zipped archives and it is worse, it lets mods install and overwrite with no warnings at all ?

At least using JSGME packages OvGME warns of overwrites but it still won't tell you what is overwriting which mods later or stop you from deactivating them like JSGME does.

I recommend to stick with JSGME apparently this OvGME is made with barely a consideration for mod overwrites.

JSGME in this regard is faultless.

Help please.

This is not working for me. "NEW GFX v1.2" looks identical to stock game. I took before and after photos to compare cockpit view, TV cam view, closeup of vehicle exterior, circuit tarmac, etc. and the before and after photos look 100% identical.

"HDR SKIES v3.0" looks the same to me too.

I put the "MODS" and "MODS INFO" folders as-well as the "GTL JSGME.exe" in the main GTL directory.

Help?...

Hi

That is not possible if you started with a fresh GTL Spin.

Quote:
cockpit view, TV cam view, closeup of vehicle exterior, circuit tarmac.............
In GTL Essentials the only thing changes any of that is HQ FOV DEFVIEWS v2.0 by GTR233 really.

HDR SKIES v3.0 by GTR233 and NEW GFX FOR GTL V1.2 by syhlif32 you should notice.

Neither GTL or GTR Essentials have TV Cam mods but if anyone wants to create one
I will add and put them in Credits

GTR2 Essentials has MODS for exterior, interiors, dashes, etc but not GTL Essentials, soz.

Well you have it pathed it right ie: Drive:\GTL\MODS .......mmmmmmmmmm

Whats happens when you activate HQ WINDOW DIRT v1.0 by GTR233 Spin ?

Thanks for feedback we get it working lol

Thanks for the reply Durge, I meant to say I was looking at graphics and took screenshots from different views and the graphics looked identical.

GTL install is fresh besides new sounds for some vehicles.

Only default circuits and vehicles are installed besides updated sounds and Toban circuit.

I am using Win 8.1 64 bit.

Just a thought but not likely.............

Do you have DX9 selected in GTLconfig.exe

Do you have maximum graphics and video settings

Yup. Max graphics and DX9 selected. When I enable/disable the mods in the JSGME tool, I can sometimes hear my HDD move files for a split second so JSGME seems to be working but everything looks the same in-game.

I can confirm that JSGME moves the correct files when I enable the "HQ AI" mod so I'm guessing that works but all the graphics mods don't seem to be making any difference in-game.

I forgot to mention, I also installed another mod called "GTL KMH Patch v1_0 by BenMK1". Is this somehow interfering with JSGME mods like HDR Skies and New GFX?
