First of all this isn't a tutorial on how to get your car into Power & Glory. There are alot of other threads that have GTR2 stand-alone creation covered already. Essentially creating cars for Power & Glory is the same, but with a few differences. I will explain some commonly asked questions here, and provide other resources.
Know nothing about car creation? Please visit the Car Skinning / Models / Physics Help forum and post your questions there. Also remember to use the search function, you might not be the first to ask a question and alot of stuff has been covered before. Painting skins First off you will need a template. Power & Glory uses the standard GT-Legends templates which can be found here: TC-65 templates GTC-65 templates GTC-TC-76 templates *MASK.GTR file and use In each Power & Glory car folder is a *MASK.GTR file that contains various files that a specific car uses in game. The contents vary depending on the car but can include textures, and custom parts. The MASK.GTR files for Power & Glory V1.02 are named: 60's Touring ABARTH_1000TC_MASK.GTR ALFA_GTA_MASK.GTR AUSTIN_MINI_MASK.GTR FORD_FSPRINT_MASK.GTR FORD_MUSTANG_MASK.GTR JAGUAR_MKII_MASK.GTR LOTUS_CORTINA_MASK.GTR 70's Touring PORSCHE_911RSR_MASK.GTR PORSCHE914_MASK.GTR GT Over 2 Litre AC_COBRA_MASK.GTR AUSTINHEALEY_3000_MASK.GTR CHEVROLET_CORVETTE65_MASK.GTR FERRARI_250SWB_MASK.GTR FERRARI_275GTB_MASK.GTR JAGUAR_E-TYPE_MASK.GTR SHELBY_DAYTONA_MASK.GTR SHELBY_GT350_MASK.GTR TRIUMPH_TR4_MASK.GTR GT Under 2 Litre LOTUS_ELAN26R_MASK.GTR LOTUS_ELITE_MASK.GTR RENAULT_ALPINEA110_MASK.GTR Prototype Over 2 Litre FORD_GT40_MASK.GTR Prototype Under 2 Litre PORSCHE_906_MASK.GTR IROC PORSCHE_911IROC_MASK.GTR Usage *MASK.GTR files are basically a "clean up" measure or a dumping ground for all those custom parts you have made, or for stand-alone chassis and masks. This cleans up the whole folder, and can make things easy to find, without having loose files everywhere as can be found in other mods, and the nightmare of files required for GTL Modding. Simply open the *MASK.GTR in Geditor, and place all of your extra files in this archive. Power & Glory always looks for parts in the MASK.GTR file first, this way you are assured that your custom parts are looked at first, rather than the default ones. PLEASE NOTE Every car needs a *MASK.GTR file in its car number folder. Power & Glory's .CAS files are looking for this archive, not having it in your cars folder will cause a CTD. Blank *MASK.GTR's Located on the bottom of this post is an archive with various blank *MASK.GTR files included. These archives contain a file called "DUMMY.GMT". As the name suggests this really isn't anything but a dummy file used to make sure there is an archive called *MASK.GTR in your car folder. If you decide to put something in your MASK.GTR archive this dummy file can be deleted. Just gone further with my Abarth, and added the blank mask. But now my windows aren't visible through.. Is this because of the blank mask?
Have saved my windows as DXT5. First to .tga than to .dds dxt5 <-- Solved, flatten image and save as dds works fine. Now I need to let the paint of the windows fit with body Last edited by Gaiajohan; 26 March 08 at 13:58. |

Okay, windows isn't ready 100%. But I wanted to test it in-game.
Things which aren't correct: Windows, Mask For the mask, I have inserted the standard mask the topicstarter is giving here. As a standard I was using the 68048 Abarth. I made the 68032 Abarth, same engine etc. So I made all the skins etc. Changed every filename to 68032, also inside the .gtr-files. Changed 'number' in the .car file. to 68032 Changed drivername. Changed helmetname. And inserted the standard mask file. Well it works great in the showroom, but when I want to go to the track I get the error from the trace file that the .hdc is missing. So I go into the .car file which says: HDVehicle=ABARTH_1000TC.HDC That file is in the Abarth folder.. Sop can anyone help me here? And maybe with the masks as well? I've uploaded everything. In the rar you'll find the .dds' I made and the .psd Further the folder with all the car stuff in it.. 11.8MB http://rapidshare.com/files/102648394/Abarth.rar |

Why did you change the mask and the windows? i wanted the car to look like it was carbon fiber but painted. It has its own color but if you look close it it has like those line that remind a bit carbon fiber. What i did was exactly what i do with the skins, take the template do what i want and save it as dds with the original name of the mask, what is usually done with the skins and works fine (for me :p). My experience
.Edit: Did you edit something about the cocpit? In my trace it says "Error loading global material ABARTH_1000TC_COCKPIT_BANNER" Edit AGAIN : I noticed that all the abarth's have a lot of dfile int the mask.gtr in the team folder (exaple 67282 folder) while in the mask.gtr of your abarth there is only one file te dummy . And in them they have about cocpit too, take a look at them maybe thats it. I lltry it too seeEdit again AGAIN : Hey i copied all the fiels from one other tema and added them to the maskgtr file of yours and works perfectly. Another thing is that you should have the 68032_body.dds and 68032_windows.dds in the 68032 folder. And a pic

Quitre strange then..
But as you can see some part of the mask of the other car you were using is now used on my car (Around the number on the bonnet). Didnt edit anything about the cockpit. Just export the 68048 ones, renamed them to 68032 and imported them again. That Cockpit_banner is something in the mask.. So in fact I should finish my model now (the windows.dds) After this I have to make the masks to fit well.. and than it should be done.. Quote:
The car looks quite well in the game, I hoped for that For a first skin after my league mini.. have to say GTL is easier, except those .bik files it needs

You would put the body and windows in the 68032_TEX.gtr
and a hi res copy of the body into 68032_ULTRA_TEX.gtr No need for them to be in the car folder. your body and windows mask, banner, and chassis files go into. ABARTH_1000TC_MASK.GTR

I said to put those 68032.dds files in their folder because there is where they should be. If you take a look at the rar you uploaded it is there outside the folder. Also, yes i saw what is wrong with the other car mask, what you can do is something similar to the other car's mask ,take the skin you had made or make again an instead of a lot of colors just put grey . Thats why it shows the other car's mask like that they are not car parts but the shape of the "draws" of the mask that has the the shapes/draws as the skin . So what you see is like your skin but the 68048 "background skin" and it shows those circles as like shadows.

Hi
I am looking for permission to use some PnG wheels (Mustang & Falcon). I'd use them on some Mustangs I'm doing for a Historic Transam mod I'm working on for GTL-GTR2 and GTL. Who do I need to ask about this? Thanks in advance. Kiwisteve |

Sorry, didn't mean the blank file but the templates. Are there any template mask-files of the new P&G 2.0 without the black areas of less reflection for numbers eg. but with the new details like dirt?

We're working on releasing all the templates at once.
I'm currently putting them all together. |

I'd appreciate more data on the genstrings. Currently have a Cortina almost finished, but it should be LHD. I have you in the right position in the car, but the dash is still RHD and you're holding an invisible steering wheel. Also, the car has white dish wheels where it should have gold mags; I have another car with wheels similar enough to use but don't know how to add them (will ask permission before uploading, naturally, but first must add them).
Also, this car should have a black surround to the windshield, which I've created in the windows file, but still displays as chrome in-game. |

Use genstrings 3 and 4 to change to the LHD cortina.
Try copying the genstring for 66011 (The only LHD car) Wheel style is position 6. Copy the number that 67039 has in this position for the gold Minilites. Black surrounds could be a number of things, I can't remember the Cortina exactly, but make sure your create a windows mask with black surrounds too or else the default mask will show through and look strange. Also check the main body doesn't have any chrome parts that show up near or around the windows. |

Well the genstring positions are listed in this post above. So no need to go through the .cas. I'll update with the new v2.0 cars soon.
The best way really is to spot something on a car you like, and then refer to this genstring guide for the number of the part. Then copy the number from the old .car file to your new one. Easy. |

Also, being a stickler for detail, I'd like to swap the tow hook(s) from left to right, but see no string entry for that (thought the graphics show mountings on both sides). Thanks for the help, I took a break from LOD screens to try painting a few cars. |

Thanks for the assistance, coming along nicely now. If I edit the wheels to give them a chrome rim, how do I add the new ones to the genstring?
