Default Your favorite short tight twisty track?

Was wondering what is your favorite shorter technical track? I've been enjoying Laguna Seca and Lime Rock alot. Any suggestions?

I am about to query rights to publish it.
One of the finnish legends is about to make in GTL... motorfx has done a marvelous job to convert this classic and hopefully original author of GPL version gives rights to release this.

Mosport isn't 'short and twisty'... Monaco isn't particularly short either, and half of Macau are really long faaaast bits. Do like the tracks though.

Knutstorp would fit the bill better, and as for Nappe's hint... Ahvenisto? Also, there are dozens of small tracks littered all over Japan (many of them used for drifting) that would all match this category. Some of them modeled, many still up for trackmaker's grabs.

nope, Keni did nice conversion many years ago already. This is older, the mother of fininsh motor racing.

As another hint, anyone has Sergio Loro's contact information? I looked around in net but could not find anything...

Cadwell is one of the best tracks ever. But I also like the following tracks:

Le Mas du Clos (ok, AI drivers are very stupid there)
Oulton Park (the narrow version)
Infineon (Sears Point Short)
Knockhill
Toban
Zandvoort 1967

@Nappe1

Must be this one:

http://www.kolumbus.fi/leif.snellman/dj/dj.htm

It was created by Sergio Loro and some other guys for GPL a long time ago.

It is Eläintarha. Only one historically remarkable finnish track is missing after this; Imatra TT GP track. Unfortunately I don't think we see it ever, as it is beyond hard work and As it was Motorcycle WC race track, I doubt many here even knows it.

but I'll try to get the Loro and others contacted and we'll see if Eltsu gets released. GT Legends would be right game for it, after all it was used from 1933 to 1963.

EDIT: Eltsu is like scaled down Bremgartten; hugely fast and deadly dangerous. it calls some balls to drive one even in GTL, not to mention how the guys in 50's felt racing with those cars in roads which were technically only paved park paths...

Short, tight, twisty? Roskilde Ring.

"Opened in 1955, it was the first permanent race track for cars in Denmark. At only 670 metres, it was soon considered to be too short, and was in 1957 extended to a length of approx. 1400 metres. It became the only Danish track to host formula one races, in 1961 and 1962, featuring famous drivers as Stirling Moss, Jack Brabham, Jim Clark and John Surtees. It also became the cradle for the first Danish race drivers of international standard. In 1969 the track was closed due to being in a too densely populated area.

Roskilde is situated at the bottom of an abandoned gravel pit, the steep walls and hills inside the pit are preserved in the track layout. This means considerable elevation changes, with almost 14 metres between the extremes. All corners are banked, from 5 degrees in the slowest corners to 11 degrees in the Pirelli turn. The width of the track is 23 metres at the starting line and 13 metres along the back stretch.
The fastest lap recorded was 42.00 seconds in a 1968 Formula 3."

Eltsu was converted & released for rFactor at some point, I remember driving it so it should be portable to GTL ok... Wouldn't regard it as particularly twisty though, more really fast and really narrow (and actually pretty dangerous at speed in several places ).

Btw, Sergio gave permission to convert all of his GPL tracks (asked him a while ago).

And as for Mosport, wouldn't call a track where the hills on the main straigh had to be shaved off to prevent the cars flipping over at high speed 'the short & twisty kind'!

We did that online with 20 nutters, on the GC server, with add-on cars.
We used everything from 1310 Minis and TCR to big fat Yank Tanks.

Eventuelly about half the field finished. Back field was a bit of a mess.
The rest pissed their pants, ending up everywhere including in trees.

Thumbs up

Great thread! Hello to some of my Muscle Car friends (without Mario I'd still be trying to get GTL to work at all!), as well as that other gang of 'cyber-dudes' who've made GTL so much better - the NoGrip modding wizards!

Ahvenisto, Cadwell, Trois-Rivieres, Monaco, and lately Halle-Saale, Rockingham, and Miseluk have been my favorite twisties to throw the '69 Camaro around with a crowd of AI.

But for 'hill climb' or 'rally' type solo blasts, Red Rock and Joux Plane are tough to beat.

I have Eltsu for rFactor, but not GTL. Eltsu's an absolute gas to fly around on, and I bet it'd only get better with GTL!

I definitely agree with todd92371 about Lime Rock, one of my favourites from GPL.

Also the following non-exhaustive list,

Cadwell
Oran Park
St Jovite North
Amaroo
Pont L Eveque
Manfeild
Taupo
Sandown - I know it has long straights but tricky corners too !
Sardian Heights Street 100
Toban Short
Tsukuba
Vallelunga
Montjuich
Croft
Curitiba
Dijon Prenois
Falkenburg
....

I've gotta drive those killer TCs more often. I've started collecting a few to throw around some of these great twisties.

Would Lime Rock qualify as short, tight, and twisty? After that I'd have to say Brands Hatch.

The Touring Cars - I spend most of my time on track in the big V8s & V12s. But I love those little TCs, and they get me onto the smaller, twistier circuits a lot more often.

Reading Looseether's long list of roller coasters had me smackin' my forehead like Homer Simpson. It's been too long since I drove some of those beauties!

Would be great if "someone" could convert the ALMS version from GTR2... It's weird as it's been around for years now and it has never been converted

IMO, there's a lot to be said for Circuit Ricardo Tormo's (Barcelona) full course...yeah, it has a long'ish main straight, but after that (and the further you go) it's full of 2nd/3rd-gear sprints between a bunch of nasty corners.

I'm a fan of most short/tight tracks.

Adria is one that often doesn't get much talk. I've always liked it.
(2 long straights but very slow corners)
