Default Electric Race Car

What's it like to drive an electric race car? Well , it's not slow, Soheil Ayari hits a top speed of 180 km/h which, on a tight track like Pau is not that bad but man, is it loud!

Pretty neat video, sorta weird seeing a racecar driver not changing gears at all.

I just wish car companies would realise that there is no law requiring electric/hybrid cars to be ugly as sin. The Tesla roadster and Porsche 911 Hybrid show this.

Same driver, older car, more work, different music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_seXmp8DbA (from 6:30 or so).
It seems progress has a price.

Damn, that sound is... ghastly.
Sounds really alien!

Still can't replace combustion engines, but I must say this is better than expected, in some very weird way.

I'd love to have a go with it though!

I'm curious to see Monster Tajima at this years Pikes Peak, when it finally gets to run! Hard to know what to expect but with his record there just has to be something interesting in his attempt.

Get a Tesla Roadster
Install high quality sound system
Connect it to the accelerator pedal
Play loud samples from a Ferrari

Also good for pedestrian safety, they can't really hear a Prius coming around a corner, they sure can hear a V8!

Edit: Isn't Audi developing something like this?

I herd it was called off this year due to bushfires.

It sounds very similar to a gas turbine engine.

And this means... it sounds great!

When internal combustion engines go away and electric cars take over racing , I'll switch to watching cage fighting.
