Thanks.

Here's a couple more

Numpad Enter : return the view to your own car
Left Shift : switch to bumper cam (note: Windows StickyKeys problem)

...and I offer them here with little bit of a rewrite for the section ..
------------------------------cut------------------------------------

Insert: change onboard view with motec still working
Home: view the car from 8 different angles. (motec doesn't work)
Page Up : change view to swing cam
then view the car from the back or any side you want
by pressing keys in the NumPad
8,2,4,6 for panning direction
7 and 9 for zoom distance
5 to reset the swing cam angle (exactly behind the car).

In a replay...
  • if you don't want to see the car moving, keep one of 7,9 or 2 pressed.
  • the panning keys (8,2,4,6 and 5) also work in cockpit view
  • motec and gauges never work.
Numpad - or + : to view other cars
Numpad Enter : return the view to your own car
Page Down : view the car from the track cameras
Left Shift : switch to bumper cam (note: Windows StickyKeys problem below)
Delete : remove the "Replay" and the seconds while watching an instant replay (in an offline race).
Arrow keys
Up : Play backwards at normal speed
Left : Play backwards at normal speed (Press and hold for fast rewind)
Down : Stop
Right : Forwards scan (Press and hold for fast scan)
Numpad 0 and Numpad . : play at normal speed. (Press and hold for slow, and very slow motion.)

------------------------------cut------------------------------------

Windows StickyKeys problem:
If you press the Left Shift key 5 times, Windows will demote your game
and put up the StickyKeys menu.

To disable it...
  1. press it 5 times, a menu will pop up,
  2. in the Keyboard tab click the StickyKeys Settings button,
  3. uncheck the Use shortcut checkbox

It's done with the /vote command in chat

Pressing space bar will skip the "Grid walk" that the camera makes before the start of an offline race.

Nearly all these keys are referenced in the 'Training' section of GTR2, so they aren't "hidden keys"

Does anyone know any other commands using the chat feature? I've been searching for debug options to assist with tweaking mods. It's very frustrating using the current procedure:

Edit file, Start game, Drive Laps, Exit Game, REPEAT.

If there is a command to reload resources, or something along those lines (which I'm sure SimBin used when making the game) then surely someone knows of them?

Regards,
Jamez.

When I first got the game I tried to use the 'num' pad during a replay because those are all the features that SBK2001 had for the replays...no problem finding those functions. And when I do a replay in any racing game I try those keys. All replay functions should be that good.
But thanks for the 'ctrl+G' function, I'll have to try that.

Is there any key or command to reset or recalibrate a G25 while in-game? I had a problem with my wheel while in Qualy, and had to leave game, unplug wheel, plug in, restart game. I lost my qually spot for a league race.

Thanks

I just turn the wheel fully left then fully right. I've begun doing this instead of calibrating before entering the game. Hope it works for you as well.

Someone in my league suggested ALT-F to reset Forced Feedback. I guess I'll try it next time the wheel goes wonky.

On my laptop there is a special "shift" key labeled Fn

I press and hold Fn, then I can use these keys to simulate the numberpad
7|8|9|0
u|i|o|p
j|k|l|;
m|,|.|?

Thanks a lot, JJC1. However, it doesn't work for mine. So, maybe it's only possible with an auxiliary keyboard or numpad. Thank you.

I had a race recently online when I experienced a complete loss of FFB. Then I remembered the ALT-F suggestion from my alien friend Ezza. I tried it and the FFB came back immediately!!!

Thanks, Ezza!!!

Hitting the M key while ingame causes the mouse to be the camera control.
Difficult to drive like that, but nice effect while viewing others practicing.

Great thread... Reminds me of the Easter Eggs on DVDs.

I noticed that the documentation for most of these sims is pretty mediocre.

I think the default view changes are the INSERT DELETE PAGE UP and PAGE DOWN and HOME keys.

I have a keyboard WITHOUT the numeric keypad, so I don't have any of those keys. It is an Apple Wireless Keyboard.

What exactly do you mean by controller settings? If you mean the Controls tab in GTR2, well it doesn't have the view change controls.

Ok one very nice and usefull from me - if in cockpit view press and hold control, press and hold one of the mouse buttons (left i think) and drag the mouse up and down - that will slowly change the Field of view (FOV)!

Well...I 'hear' it seems to randomly choose songs you drop into the music folder when navigating the in game menus...as I added an AC/DC track...Shine On, NeedToBreathe is a pre-race motivator. LOL

As long as it's in mp3 format you can put whatever you want in there. I added the orginal GTR songs to it as well as a few others.

Just found out by chance. If you right-click on a driver's name in the Timing screen display, it lists all that driver's laps. Right-click again to return to the full list.

Yes those keys are useful often. But a laptop without numpads is terrible lol, is there a solution to change all the numpads keys to other keys? Editing a file, or else... etc...

@GTracer123: I think an old GPL program 'might' be helpful. Joy2key or something like that. You theoretically should be able to tell your keyboard that pressing a key like V or B is the same as pressing Keypad 4.
Good luck

I can recommend JOY2KEY , still use it for all sims.
Still works 100% with Windows 7.
Tested Windows 8, found a few bugs ie: some programs dont respond, need parameters, etc.

Use BATCHRUN to make shortcuts for sims.

Batchrun shortcuts boot my Sims, RunAFF or the like, Joy2Key, RealTemp, AfterBurner, Riva OSD, Fraps, Bandicam, Teamspeak , Chrome, Fanatec and others, all seamlessly one click.

P.S. Joy2Key takes a bit of trial and error to find corresponding buttons for various controllers
so once you find your button layout make sure you save it.

If you change USB ports you may have to reset, depends on device.
Some layouts do not run logical patterns.

Easy way to map and test for me on these occasions was to put up a movie in small VLC and set my Fraps screenshot Key to each button in Joy2Key and test all wheel buttons till I found the one that the framerate counter flashed white in VLC. Repeat with as many keys as you need to use, save the controller profile in J2K ...............then delete all the screenshots. lopl

What about button combination, that shows only your class rivals?
For example-there are gt and ngt in the list, my driver is in ferrari 360 in 20 place, touching the button-and my driver is on 2 place, and there is only ngt cars on list.
Remember, that there was existed.
