I've just got myself a G27 after using DFGT for almost 2 years. One of the biggest reason is I want a quiet wheel so I can play without annoying anyone. That objective is done, now the problem:
- With DFGT in Race 07 and rFactor I can feel engine rumbling when press the gas in neutral but this doesn't happen with G27. When I press the gas, the car (on screen) shakes but no feedback to the wheel. Also brake vibration is significantly lower than DFGT. Last but not least now I feel like I'm just wafting through the track. All bumps and jumps I felt with DFGT aren't there anymore. - With DFGT in Dirt 2 I can feel brutal kick while in transitioning from gravel to tarmac (or change of surface) such as in Marina Air but almost nothing happens with G27, I feel some thing squishy and just waft through surfaces. - With DFGT in Dirt 3 when I go 2 wheel ant the other 2 in the air I can feel that the car is flying and weight shift to the other side but nothing happens with G27. Don't get me wrong the FFB in G27 is great for grip level and spinning speed but for minor effects it doesn't perform as I expect. Are these common behavior of G27? Can anyone confirm that I don't get a defective product. I took it apart, checked the motors and they seems to work fine. Are there any chance that effect controller chip got broken? |

Amazing! this wheel is the one that most of people recommend but when something happens no one seems to know the answer.
I already contact Logitech asking them if mine is broken or are there any problem with the logic board. |

Hi,
Are you sure that you have downloaded the latest "Logitech Gaming Software" from www.logitech.com ? If not you should go ahed and do that! Then you should (At least in rFactor) download a plugin called "RealFeel", I'll post a link for you. (A tutorial is also included) - http://isiforums.net/f/showthread.ph...r-FFB-Tutorial I'm using a G25 myself. I've heard that DFGT, G25 and G27 almost feels the same, only with some minor upgrades. (Like the G27 which is pretty quite) Last but not least you have to change the values in the "Logitech Gaming Software". Just leave a message if you want me to help you with the settings! I hope that this will work for you! Good luck! |

Thanks but I always have the latest driver installed. No matter what I buy, I never use the included CD, believe it or not.
Well... the Force Feedback feels are almost identical but minor effects aren't. I though it was suppose to be identical so I used the old settings. Now I tried different one and it feels a lot better. But still, minor things are still not quite the same level. Some of them is much stronger like brake vibration, some of them is weaker like engine vibration. Also the engine vibration I got from DFGT is only when the car sits still (when you're reving up and see the car is shaking), not always vibrate when I accelerate. Thanks for the realfeel suggestion, I tried it when I use DFGT but can't find optimal settings. Only realfeel that works was the one coming with Game Stock Car. With G27 which is a lot more popular I think I can find settings in no time. Do you play Race 07, mattis11? What ingame settings are you using? I tried one from download section called G25/27 feels great, well... it feels great but too much vibration for my liking though. Anyway, with G27 pedals combine with DFGT wheel I got much better lap time, then I tried the whole set and the wheel is a lot smoother hence I got even more consistency. Tonight I'm gonna try Test Drive Unlimited the 1st one since the 2nd one doesn't really has FFB. Hopefully it will perform brilliantly because the game doesn't have much effect anyway. |

Did the DFGT have "canned effects"? For example, when you go over a rumble strip a wheel with canned effects initiates a procedure that's identical for all rumble strips, whereas a wheel without canned effects would vibrate according to the interpreted geometry of the actual rumble strip.
Maybe not the best example but I guess you get the idea. It might explain some differences. It might not be the answer at all... |

Bought a G27 a month ago coming from a DFGT and I was surprised the G27 felt like there was some kind of dampening effecting the immediate ffb although 0% dampening from Logitech driver.
I for one prefer the clear feedback from DFGT and returned the G27. |

^ Thanks so much. Now I can rest assure that mine isn't broken. Honestly last night I couldn't sleep and kept thinking what should I do if it's broken since it's 2nd hand unit and doesn't really have warranty (as far as the previous owner says). I took it apart, clean it, grease it. It feels like new without power but in many games something wasn't right. Thanks to you I can sleep peacefully tonight... or maybe not sleeping at all and keep playing it until morning. ![]() Quote:
Alright... back to the settings page to see which one suite my driving style. Oh, how I wish to forgot the pain of finding the right settings according to my liking.

I'm using the G25 Feels Real settings in both GTL and GTR2 and, while this is my 1st FFB wheel, they work well for me...overall it does 'feel real' IMO but I do wish there were a bit more braking feedback. Somewhere in the downloads here is a FFB guide written for SimBin titles that explains what each setting is/does (can't find it easily or I'd link to it); I also stuck the Street Wars Advanced Garage and FFB Menus mod in to access those settings. I'm still messing with it all and may well be doing so for awhile yet, but I think I can get some more/better/stuff brake feel in the game at least.
- edit - I went looking for the FFB doc and did find this and this...haven't used them myself, but it may be some help to you. The FFB doc is just a page or two of plain text...PM me an e-mail address and I can send it to you, if you want. |

I played around with FFB settings in GTR2s .plr file before finding one that suited me, and still tweaked it further. It was quite a lengthy process but well worth it in the end.
Something like this (apparently works with G27 too). There are a few available for GTR2 - hopefully you'll find something for the games/sims you play. Good luck. |
